With the world's gears just getting turning again, Crankworx has done something special. Brought together a collection of 25 racers from all over British Columbia for a no holds barred race series. Our first event will be the Enduro at Silver Star Mountain Resort. The course, a mix of flow, tech, and jumps, will give our athletes a level playing field to do battle. Arriving at Silver Star Mountain Resort we were greeted with tacky trails and friendly faces as friends old and new met for the first time in months. Things would soon change (for the trails anyway) as temperatures climbed in to the mid 30's and the moisture evaporated. For the women,, Casey Brown proved she can still hang with the racers just fine today. And top spot for the men, Finn Iles, a World Cup downhill racer, is enjoying getting his feet wet in this new discipline. Giddy up lets go racing!

maybe he didn't read the comments

I wonder if it is still with the original 150/140mm or if he did change the stroke of the suspensions.
  • 8 0
And in the video it was clear he didn't really know how to set it up either... I guess it's all about the rider. Who knew?
  • 3 4
He had a coaching session with Lance before the race. It's Not About the Bike

@mammal: yeah..he even confuse which is calliper and which is lever..lol

Finn not knowing how to Enduro then beating them all one day later. 5 stars.
  • 1 0
He’s also actually looking like an adult these days. I think that a grown up Finn will beat a lot of competitors in the future

Seriously? Hekel Trocken, a 3,99€ sparkling wine as champagne substitute? Man, I am lucky that my riding sucks enough to not become MTB pro!
  • 3 0
Those 375ml bottles are $8.99 in Canada - technically not champagne of course.

To be fair its an on the fly low budget race series so the good stuff cant be expected. No money was made in the making of this race.

It's not like anyone was drinking it. It sprays as good as the expensive stuff.

@paulskibum: I know, drinking has been expensive on our BC journeys but I guess Germans are a bit spoiled when it comes to beer and liquor pricing.

A Local brewery could have been a better sponsor, or some Party in the woods ale :-P

Cheers

I usually keep to myself when I find a typo, but Ms. Brown deserves a correction: "For the women an underdog to the racing world took the top spot, Casey Brown proved he can hang with the big dogs just fine today."
  • 6 0
Yeah and she used to race world cups and does all the crankworx races. Definitely not an underdog lol
  • 3 0
@makripper: Also a former EWS racer. Yes, she's no stranger to high performance racing, and a weird person to put an underdog label on.

I thought i saw Blenki wearing gloves for a second, and started to become emotional! Thankfully it was Henry Fitzgerald

So stoked to see my home Mountain hosting this innovative series! Great shots!

Crankworx should consider replacing the missing crowds with robots along the track. Joking aside try a very very large screen with all the faces of everyone tuned in to watch the finish gate of the event. Not sure what it would cost, but to riders, it might mean a lot to see all the excited faces as they enter the finish gate. If only it was live-streamed...

Wasn’t this race series supposed to be covered live?
  • 1 0
They are doing this in baseball actually, behind home plate they have a bunch of cutouts of people, kind of like the ones they would use to fill in a crowd of extras while filming a movie. It's a bit silly but I think it makes sense especially behind home plate where the camera is trained, you're focused on the player and don't immediately notice how empty the stadium is. I don't think they should do it for mtb though.

Rheeder , where you at ?
  • 1 0
 Isnt he recovering this year?
  • 4 0
@gearhead231: they announced him as one of the 25 racers, so...
  • 2 0
@tbmaddux: Yeah I saw that after I commented.
  • 5 1
I don't think Rheeder should be able to pick and choose events. All or nothing in this series IMO.

For all the hype about the Slayer, it's kind of strange to see the Rocky Mountain squad back on the Instinct. Is it the course?
  • 3 0
 Is it the Instinct?
  • 3 0
@TerrapinBen: might be an updated instinct for 2021, would've loved to see them rip on the big slayer though Smile
  • 1 0
yeah wondering that myself.. I see a new downtube protector, no more cables coming out under the bottom bracket, bottle cage has been moved a bit lower (which means likely removed access ports, etc for the Fox Live Valve System). I cant see the rocker well enough but that looks slightly different also.

If I had to guess they probably steepened up the seat tube a hair, slackened the front end & maybe lengthened it to bring it more in line with current standards. The team was riding these all last year with angle sets to get an extra degree of slack and upforking to 170, so they probably brought them more inline with what they were riding
  • 2 0
@striveCF15: I would guess it is a brand new INSTINCT the linkage is different and Vaea was blocking the bike in the bike check video
  • 3 0
They should never have changed the Slayer!
  • 1 0
I guess melamed rode the slayer according to his yt channel Smile
  • 4 0
what are the brand behind these plate holders?
  • 3 0
 odi mate
  • 4 0
I love peoples faces. Thank God for smiles (-:

They went up snake pit? Last week that was my final run down. Also silver star has to the most messed up bike park I've ridden for getting around especially back to the main lodges.

Looks like Casey Brown is on the Remedy?

Also, glad to see that Finn isn't sporting the blond hair anymore, but surprised how much he looks like Steve-O now.

Those pictures exacerbated my "I wish I was independently wealthy and could go outside and play today instead of being stuck at work" condition.
  • 1 0
All im saying is wearing a mask on a podium is pointless, especially when you're 6 ft away from anyone. common sense statement you guys got all butt hurt over haha.
  • 2 0
So wassap with Vaea's secret Rocky Mountain? New Altitude or something?
  • 3 0
New 29" Altitude and revised Instinct coming for 2021. She's likely on the new Altitude.
