NO LOVE for Cecile???? Chic won every Enduro race she entered and even a few DH podiums. She damn near won every Enduro stage of the season. Fastest woman on the planet and likely faster than all but a handful of the guys. Give her some props people!!
  • + 45
Well no, fastest woman in Enduro, she's still WAY behind Rachel in DH. Martin is one of the fastest in Enduro AND DH, which makes him easily one of the fastest on a bike, not just the fastest in a discipline
  • + 4
No doubt she is fast. A league above the competition. Which is why I don't think she got the love. It did not make the womens EWS all that fun. Maybe the rest of the field is slow, or she is that much faster. But predictability is boring. Please not I mean no disrespect to her or the rest of the womens field. All shredders.
  • + 6
Cecile is undoubtedly amazing and deserves a shed load of credit but Martin Maes won events in two disciplines against super stacked fields in both. Everyone on the list is an incredible athlete but Maes had a real blinder this year.
  • + 9
Tracey Moseley could walk into a race and beat her tomorrow.
  • + 2
Tough call, they were all incredible this season.
  • - 2
Personality counts too. That's why Isabeau gets more screen time despite usually finishing second.
  • - 1
i don't know of any athlete who would trade a perfect season for anything less. but apparently that doesn't mean anything for the majority of the pinkbike crowd. hmmmmmm?? ravanel and holl!
  • + 2
on average she would come 90-100th in the mens comp ... please.
  • + 1
 She got my vote.
  • + 48
I guess Redbull Rampage doesn't register as a top event worthy of being voted on.
  • + 6
It only does when semenuk wins.

 that's cause its shit lol
  • + 3
By the way what is this joyride thing they put instead of proper mtb event like, don't know, rampage?
  • + 42
Emil for comeback of the year. Come off of a 10 month hiatus and gets 4th at Joyride. Very impressive
  • - 2
I concur. Det stämmer! Fyyyy fan!
  • + 1
Yeah, it was a comeback that make other people cry (I got emotional too), he takes it for me.
  • + 41
I guess not many must have seen Jolanda Neff’s win despite getting two flats in a race? Superhuman effort.
  • + 6
Ultrahuman. She was 100% spent at the finish line. Although I might have some time related bias because, today after reading the article I had to go back and watch the race again.
  • + 8
Yep to Neff, pretty much needed a top three to win the overall and had two flats and still won.. XC doesnt get the love that EWS or DH gets.

@slickwilly1: because it´s boring, just like F1 lol. Ok that was too hard.
  • + 2
If you haven’t watched that La Bresse race you’re missing out. It was a nail biter all they way through and Jolanda KILLED it. Jolanda FTW!
  • + 35
Wish each section had the option: None of the above.
  • + 5
Yeah, best mountain bike of the year was a big pile of meh for me, or more in line with the user name: I have no strong feeling one way or the other.
  • + 3
Which one of these super expensive bikes you're highly unlikely to be able to afford is the best? Umm, I still ride a hardtail.
  • + 21
XTR leading the vote for component of the year but not yet available in the U.S...
  • + 2
 Will it ever be??
  • + 2
 Exactly
  • + 19
Don't get why the one up dropper is hailed as being so much more affordable than other droppers. It's $200, but doesn't come with a remote, which when you factor in a remote makes it comparable with a lot of other options.
  • + 8
Short stack height. I can fit a 150mm where previously the best I could do was 125mm. OneUp all the way for me.
  • - 7
flag Dent (Dec 14, 2018 at 12:53) (Below Threshold)
when you factor in needing to replace the dropper after every ride, it's actually more expensive! haha
  • + 7
@Dent: Had mine for 7 months and it’s been fine.
  • + 2
 @Dent: is this from experience?
  • + 5
That brings up a real gripe I have. Why are remotes so expensive? Wolf tooth, oneup, bike yoke etc etc all come in comparable to shifters in price. IT JUST PULLS A F*#*#ING CABLE!!!

......giant new shifter style remote is PROPER PRICING!!
  • + 3
@Rimrider26: because people are willing to pay that amount of money for such a simple part? I´m more surprised that there are reasonably priced products in this day and age.
  • + 17
Interbike for event of the year
  • + 13
Missing option: None of the Above
  • + 5
So little people voted for Nicholi Rogatkin Triple Crown... It's an outstanding achievement in any sport to win the three most important, difficult and prestigious events for the year... there are a handful of people that have done it in a given field.
  • + 8
CAN you win Component of the Year, if it's not available during this year?
  • + 1
its a bunch of hub bub
  • + 5
I was looking for Radon, YT, Canyon, Propain (maybe Commencal and Intense?) at best value MTB and got disappointed. Clearly better VFM than any of the top ones.
  • + 6
There will be many opinions in these comments

 and comments in these opinions.

Jolanda Neff at LaBresse must have been overlooked by the pinkbike crowd. That race was the highlight of the mountain bike season. If you are reading this now and haven't watched. It was AWESOME! I wasn't even rooting for her specifically but watching the absolute commitment to the sport shown by the XC womens field was humbling. The whole family was camped out it the kitchen yelling and screaming at the monitor as we watched on RedBullTV. It is an hour and a half well spent.
  • + 3
How about DH comeback of Bruni and the Bulldog? Both injured in the first round but still ending season with amazing results.
  • + 0
Bother better than gee. And loic didn't get any points the 1st round
  • + 2
I have never ridden any of the bikes or components so I don't think I can vote on those. World champs was a pretty amazing set of races but I wasn't there. I was actually at Joyride and had freakin blast so it gets my vote.
  • + 4
Should be an option for "other" or "none of the above" into polls... Thats impositive thinking.
  • + 4
Cecile Ravenel should win athlete of the year... Just sayin
  • + 1
cecile should win athlete of this half-decade bro she is absolutely dominant
  • + 3
No what town is "sad af" poll, come on let's kick Reno in the nuts some more. ha!
  • + 4
@mikekazimer : Thanks PB polls are fun!
  • + 2
I said Joyride was the event of the year because it was fucking nuts to watch this time around. So much suspense and excitement with each run
  • + 1
 it's played out....
  • + 1
The switch back to Saturday was crucial
  • + 3
 Intense Primer, best bike IMHO
  • + 1
Surprised Rampage didn’t make the cut for the event or any of the athletes who risked it all.
  • + 1
It’s a hard pick between the Supreme and the Aurum. They are both so sick in the same ways.
  • + 1
The bike of the year category just goes to show how good we have it right now, all of those bikes kick ass.
  • + 1
The polygon pictured there is the t8, not the longer travel n8! Great value bikes
  • + 1
Seems like people will vote what they buy as far as bikes go, that's why we should take some ratio of #votes:bikes sold.
  • + 2
No Sam Hill for athlete of year???
  • + 0
The commencal has to be bike of the year. Every person who rode one went faster. That's all the proof you need of to be bike of the year
  • + 1
You're right. Winning is 100% to do with the bike
  • + 1
Nope. But it's clear this helped @cycleco:
