Nike 6.0 + ID = Awesome shoes!

Nov 24, 2008
by Jordan Holmes
Nike released their 6.0 series of shoes a short while ago, and has had a very strong following. The 6.0 series was designed around kids who shred it, and want to look steezy while doing it. With such riders as Brandon Semenuk, and Mike Spinner rocking the 6.0 shoes, Nike has created a large following of rippers.

Recently Nike released their 6.0 ID program. Read on to find out more information on this unique, custom shoe designing system.Nike has had a firm grip on the sports industry when it comes to athletic wear for a long time. More people day to day wear Nike shoes than any other brand, so it's no wonder they have such a massive following. With the release of the 6.0 series of shoes, Nike created a line of "skate style" shoes that were all designed around one purpose, to make your ugly feet look sweet, and that's exactly what they achieved.

Now Nike has released the ID program. What is ID? Well, ID usually stands for Identification. What's identification? A way of proving who you are. When you go to buy booze, get into the bar, get over the border, basically anywhere you have to prove your age, you will require ID.

Way to complicated

Way to complicated

So what does Nike ID have to do with getting into the bar? or to buy booze? Umm ya nothing, it doesn't. You will not be able to hand the bouncer your shoes and expect for him to know your age, however, you can show him how cool you are by having your own custom shoes.

Nike ID is a way to express who you are, without having to prove to Nike that you can rip it hard enough to have your own line of shoes. Nike ID is a website where you're able to customize your own shoes, everything from materials, to colors, to fit. You'll be able to select from a list of sport and casual shoes to start your designs on, and after that you can break it down to your style.

Customization

Customization

Not only that, but Nike is also allowing you to customize what it says on your shoes. So not only will you look fresher than ever in your color coordinated bar-star outfit, but your shoes will even say your own awesome slogan on it. There are a few limitations to what you can write on the heel, but that added touch really makes them extra unique!

After you have designed your own custom kicks, you can order them from Nike. For around the same price as a normal pair of shoes, you can have your own, completely custom, blinged out Nike shoes. Sweet! So cruize on over to Nike ID and customize your own fancy shoes. No one will have the same pair as you!

JUST DON'T DO IT! Nike could give a crap about action sports, suppoert rider owned companies!

tbh, there're many more ethical reasons not to buy Nike...I'd love to say I'm a tree-hugging-perfect-karma-anti-globalist-tofu-welder but I'm not. I'm a consumer and will buy from whoever makes the best product I can afford (just not in those colours...stay away from the fairy-food before ordering next time PB) Wink

Nike's are for sellouts. They already own basketball, do you really want them in biking?

indeed.....that much cash coming in, and competing with adidas too, there'd be some awesome new products, comps, sponsorship deals, publicity etc...hell, even the I.O.C wouldn't be able to ignore biking then Smile

Umm Vans has been doing this since the 70's. Wear what you want but id rather support brands that have a long term interest in mtb and bmx. Addias, rebok, even converse all
tried to do skate/bmx shoes in the 90s as soon as sales slowed down it stopped. Vans, etnies have been supporting
for a long time and make good stuff and there is a newer bmx specific shoe company called lo-tek who is making some
great shoes that i rode all 2008 that have held up excellent.

 FUCK YEA lotek !!

Thats what I'm talkn about. We're all consumers and we dictate the market so lets buy from companies who give back and share our passion. You can't very well buy from small companies all the time but Nike is not one I would choose to support. I come from a skateboard background and they have been trying to buy their way into small niche sports for two decades without giving back. And when they give a little money it's purely tax write off situations. As far as I'm concerned Nike can take their motified dunks and blow.

Yeah scotch ive been rockin the lotek aitken nightwolf synthetic mids. They along with the old vans rowley xlt's are my favorite ridin shoes.
  • 8 1
I've got to agree. I've tried Nike for everything from hiking boots to cross trainers. They wear out too quickly for me (and I'm not a fan of that f**king color rainbow look).

 Thank you, oh thank you...lol

 sweatshop approved!

Shimano DX rule your face. Shimano is a Bikes Belong & IMBA member.

Support companies who give back to the industry.

The sole in the pedal area of my forward foot was gone in under a week on my 6.0's -- same story with my friend's... I'm sticking to my 5.10s. Strangely only the forward foot... guess I use it more in spins.
  • 1 2
same here the soles dont last very long so cant use them when i ride Frown

bar that they're sick
  • 4 1
they just ripped the make your own idea off of vans. nike tried getting into the skate shoe scene and failed so now there trying to get into the bike scene.

Those look like Clown Shoes. This is another attempt at a lame company jumping on the train waaaayyy after it left. Buy from brands that helped forge these sports. 5-ten for DH, etnies, DC, Vans for skate, etc.
  • 7 3
Wow, those are some FUGLY shoes. People really will buy anything....
  • 6 0
Yeah, certainly wouldn't be my colour choice

I dont think that nike has failed on the skate shoe scene... some SB's sell for upward of a thousand dollars. Personally, i enjoy nikes shoes, and have ridden 6.0s for 2 yrs now. Im on my 2nd pair, and I like them alot.
  • 1 0
Ugly as hell. Who wants hot pink on their shoes? Nike needs to stick to making basketball shoes. I'll stick with my fiveten shoes for riding.
  • 3 0
Buy Orchid or Lotek and leave those abominations on the court.
  • 1 1
my nice makes her own nikes like this.. with paint and markers.. and she is 16 ! ! ! so that would say enough.. dont support child laybour ! ! buy 5-10s.. in bomber edition and paint them yourself.. Pimp
