This past weekend the POC Eastern States Cup hosted the first POC ESC Enduro Cup race of 2014 at Plattekill Bike Park, Roxbury NY. Great weather, a great vibe and 5 great tracks were in attendance along with 100+ racers. After the long winter the enduro racers were anxiously waiting for the first enduro race of the season.

Seamus Powell, the 2013 Single Speed XC and Super D National Champion was back to defend his 2013 POC ESC Enduro Cup Championship. Seamus has been getting ready for the enduro season with a very successful 2014 DH campaign.

Michael Maldonado and his dad, Nelson proving the POC ESC Enduro Cup is a family event as they both took home podium spots. Congrats to Michael for completing the entire race on a course that the pros were calling “rowdy”.

Nelson Maldonado hitting the steeps on his way to a third place finish in the largest class of the day: men’s 40-49. Nelson is recovering from a serious injury earlier this season that may have him sitting out the DH series. This result might change his mind.

Melissa Martin came all the way from Ontario to compete and plans on doing all the races in the POC ESC Enduro Cup this season. That’s a lot of dedication. Melissa is timing in with her chip. The ESC supplies wristbands so racers won’t lose the chips. Once again the POC ESC Enduro Cup timing was spot on and quick.

Reeves Hankins flying over the section 2 drop, there’s plenty of those at Plattekill. But fortunately there is always a go around for those without wings.

Masson Racing’s pro woman Kelly Dolan took the class, won every section and clinched the win by over a minute overall.

I took the last photo. The first rider was doing the go around to avoid the drop and didn't hear the second guy shouting "rider". Just a crazy fluke of timing. They both picked themselves up and apologized for the mishap. Great show of sportsmanship.

Thanks for the explanation! I'm very glad nobody got hurt and good to hear that both men were sporting about the incident.

ESC thanks for putting on a great race at plattekill!!! One of the best enduros I have ever competed in. I only wish that some other enduro series in the northeast are as gravity focused. I plan on making the next one and encourage others to come out as well nice job well done!!

Thanks, we listen and do our best to offer what the racers want. We also all race and "get it".

This is awesome, well done Plattekill. I remember going to the Last Chance for Glory enduro 2 years ago and there was nothing like this kind of showing (only 1 woman in the Pro class then), it's nice to see you guys finally getting some love for being such a great place.

Two pro Racers film the videos. It's really hard to race the event then immediately head up the hill to video 5 courses all over the hill. We're really happy they could catch that much action !!

This event was my first time riding anything dh related since I blew out my Achilles in 2012. I held up better than my bike did but overall I must say it was a killer event with awesome people and I'm hooked on enduro now.

Nice one Ernie and Felicia!, Enduro at Plattekill should get more popular given the amount of awesomeness in those woods.

That last picture is why one does not stand in the landing of drops. Take note. I nearly killed someone at Mountain Creek this past Sunday who was running across the landing of blind step down.

If that's me, I am (if I can) getting up and pummeling that jack-ass...
What would possess someone to stop there?

I believe that was an area on stage 2 where you could take 2 different lines one jumping out over rock and other going around and crossing in front of it. Great photo though!!!

Pills is right. He was not standing in the landing, he was taking the go-around. Jeb explained in his comment.
