Probably a great story, but it's road cycling.

@CaSentLeTabarnakMonHomme: This may come as a shock, but it is possible to appreciate mountain biking and road biking at the same time.

It’s amazing how many times you here ‘the doctors told me I wouldn’t ever do this or that again’ you’d think doctors would be more motivational!

Doctors are on a very very delicate and exposed situation when it comes to optimism, prognosis, expectations... But I get your point.. Specially when the mindset of the injured/ill person makes up for a significant and possible decisive factor towards overcoming the adversity..

Honestly, it's because you obviously never hear from the 9 out of 10 people that the doctors said the same thing to, but were right.

Would you rather be told you can never walk again, and eventually learn how to walk. Or be told you have a decent chance at walking, and never being able to walk again.
  • 2 0
Doctors must be realistic and provide honest assessments based upon their experience and the best knowledge available. If a person has a 10% chance of walking again, they must be honest about that. People can be absolutely devastated when they are given unrealistic expectations. Doctors can be equally devastated. They take the burden of their work home with them every day and suffer sleepless nights wondering if they did the right thing. Truth is the only option. You don't play games with people's health.

What can be more motivational, than beating (conservative) expectations/odds given by docs? Wink

Just discovered Andrew Neethling's podcast a couple of weeks ago. I've been really enjoying the insight provided from himself and his guests. It's well worth the listen!

Minor point, but the music doesn't fit the story. And the story looks amazing, and something we can all learn from. Thanks for sharing.

When watching this it feels like two youtube videos playing over the top of each other. Great story, terrible sound editing.

Someone should set him up with an MTB and see what kind of time he can do on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Race (GDMBR)

No jokes about his last name and bad luck? I'll come back later.
