Podcast: Wyn Masters Speaks to Kirt Voreis on his 27 Year Pro Career

by Wyn Masters

For Episode 6 of the Wyn or Lose Podcast I was lucky enough to have Kirt Voreis on, who is one of my personal favourite riders and in my mind one of the most creative riders in the sport, we discuss his 27 year and still running career as a pro rider and how he got his first pro deal after just one year of racing, what it was like to be on a team with Shaun Palmer and how Kirt sees where the sport is at these days.

Kirt Voreis what a F*G legend he is, he lived and survived those wild days in the end of the 90's, good ol' years and has adapted to the new way of doing things, keeping it fresh and professional. Thanks @wynmasters for another awesome podcast mate, keep it coming \m/

I would say rather that the new way of doing things have adapted to Kirt, not the other way around ????Agree with everything else you said tho.

He had the most incredible blog ever the year he and Lindsey ran the crap out of his AllRide Tour across the country. He worked morning, noon and night being the only guy running an entire demo bike fleet, hitting up something like 5 towns a week with no sleep, no rest, rode every kind of ride on earth with every single group of locals, showed up and tooled the Urban Sprawl in Asheville, filmed his New World Disorder segment at Windrock, did street sessions in Atlanta, big burly trail rides and every night tune up the rental fleet, pack it all up all on his own and hit the road for the next town. I don't know of a rider who could out WORK him. Add that to nobody outriding him. He seriously belongs on a pedestal!!!

I think this is footage from learning to backflip that Kirt talks about:

He's a real life Cru Jones!

That was a fun conversation. Kirt is a legend, I remember seeing all the stuff he did in the 90s! Now I'm 43, he's 46 and I've been enjoying his content as long as ive been riding MTB. Its fun to hear the stories of the NORBA days and also to hear about legends like Rennie and Peaty. I remember reading about those races and seeing ride reports in magazines, but to hear about now stokes all those old memories up.
