KENDA TIRES: Throughout the past seasons the team has acquired great experience in tire development. For a few months now, team riders have started to ride their new Kenda prototypes and they have shown huge potential. So the team is really excited to work with Kenda especially because they are working on new technologies and also helping developing some new gravity racing tires. For us their is no doubt the team will soon hit podiums on Kenda tires.

BOX COMPONENTS PROMAX: We always like it when there is a challenge, something new, innovative. BOX components is definitely on the same page as us and that’s why we teamed up with them to develop and race their new shifting and derailleur system. We really appreciate working with such passionate people.

Looks like an order for Schwalbes and Sharpies just came through for Polygon.

Basically. How hard can it be for kenda to use a softer compound? Their tread patterns aren't all terrible...

Am I the only one more interested in the BOX drivetrain than the Kenda tires?

Hell ya their very unique shifter that they showed at sea otter looked cool

It says they've teamed up to "develop and race", I wonder in what disciplines and which races as I can't imagine sick mick running it in his race runs until it's been fully developed

Their engineers were testing the derailleurs by riding themselves on UR team's bikes in order to tune it perfectly.
They also have more components on the way (cranks, rims,...)

The currently have cranks, bars, forks ,etc. in the BMX world so MTB cranks wouldn't be a far stretch. As far as getting good shifting and derr working without stepping on SRAM or Shimano patent toes is the tricky part

Just wish sick mick would win a race

I though this was gonna be mik's year....dammit kenda

While Kenda might not have the most awesome tires on the market now.... Knowing Mick, the process that gets used testing potential sponsors product, and the influence he has on the teams decisions...I assure you that there is NO WAY they would sign with Kenda if there was less confidence or performance in what they tested vs other options....and what they tested is probably not what you can buy right now.

 2014- shimano drivetrain, formula brakes
2015- box drivetrain, shimano brakes?

why no all shimano???
  • 7 0
Because E*Thirteen cranks. But Shimano brakes and BOX drivetrain is an interesting one to have pulled off Big Grin

Kenda? tires are the most important part of performance, geo, suspension aint no good without the best tires, just have my doubts Kenda can match Maxxis or Schwalbe for top end, some brands work well in some places conditions, few work well eveywhere, Maxxis Schwalbe do that easp at DH end.
Good luck, good to see Skyline invest lkke this too, now do same for Rotorua team, build it up like ya did in Qwey and they will come!

The syndicate guys have been sponsored by Kenda for some time some year ago. Peaty always rode High Rollers.

Toby Henderson (THE) is the man behind Box and Promax. Already making quality stuff on the BMX scene!

Kenda have a new product development centre in Germany and this is the start of a new marketing campaign. Trust me there is good stuff to com from Kenda. Box have been developing the MTB drivetrain for a few years now and it looks like it's nearly ready.

 Prototype BOS forks?
  • 5 0
Am I the only one who hasn't heard of box before? What do they manufacture?
  • 4 0
Bars, stems, cranks, lots of stuff. They're more popular in bmx racing so its weird that they're trying to get into MTB drivetrains.
  • 5 0
You must have been using container and Tupperware all your life.

I feel like a novice- Kenda don't seem to have the best rep and I've always liked mine!
  • 4 0
They're good if you like drifting around every corner at about half the speed of everyone else.
  • 2 0
yeeeaayy... lets see what box components has for the rest of the team. Maybe a third player in the drivetrain system might bring the price down.
  • 5 2
Not when Kenda is one of your sponsors!
  • 2 0
 Spot on

Good lord Tracey is a fox.

No more Guillaume them? And CousCous switched to Enduro only?
  • 4 0
Guillaume moved, if I remember correctly, to Giant.

 Needles!

I know this sounds cliche, but where is Holly? and where is Ray George?
  • 4 0
Holly has not been on the UR Team for a couple of years, she had a bad crash and I do not think she is racing anymore. Ray George is sponsored by Polygon, he is not a rider on the UR Team. The UR Team is owned by Fabien, Polygon is a sponsor of his team and he finds his own sponsors and hires his own riders.
  • 1 0
aahhh I see, now everyone know the truth about Holly. Poor her.
  • 4 2
l am a know nothing noob, but l always liked my kenda nevegals.

I miss when this team rode MOREWOODs and Hutchinson tires!
  • 1 0
 there is no hutchinson anymore
  • 5 3
 Hahaha.... Kenda....
  • 1 1
I'd like to see a new kit along with the new parts instead of what appear to be iron-on patches. They definitely deserve it.
