Video: Jesse Melamed Puts Together A Full Run For His Trail Breakdown

May 6, 2020
by Jesse Melamed

A lot of people asked for the full run to see how it all pieced together. I am stoked so many people were interested in the video and wanted to see more so I immediately got out and filmed this top to bottom! One go, one take.

Let me know what you think!
Anything specific you want to see next?

 @JesseMelamed Nice ride, thanks !
I would like to see your Slayer and would like to know how is performs with the X2 and why some of you pros seem to prefer it over a coil.
Thanks.

Same lets see your slayer bike check

I second that, and maybe some cool bike hacks that you have picked up over the years.

Awesome! Would be great to know what kind of seat collar and shifter housing you use too.

Because they are pro for a reason and, for the majority of the time, they need a snappier bike as to not waste energy in races. Big bikes suck down your energy big time. When you're racing 4-5 stages in a day, two days in a row, it adds up.

 This.

@eugenux: True to a point, coil can also be pretty efficient because it soaks up all the little bumps better. A coil spring also doesn't degrade in performance during 10 minute plus stage which is a huge bonus for not wasting energy!

I like that he misses some lines because he pops bunny ups to the moon every so often.

I'm getting a bit of a Claudio vibe! Good work man, please do more full trail riding videos, it's all I look for when I check pinkbike every morning.

Except he was riding a World Cup DH track and following some of the worlds fastest! He was way more impressive. I miss his runs.

@JesseMelamed: Damn Canadians being too humble (you are one of the worlds fastest).. We loved the video--kuddos

@JesseMelemed love these videos man! On my ride yesterday I thought a lot about what you said regarding getting loose and finding your next "safe" spot, and thinking about what's underneath you and ahead of you at the same time. Absolutely great advice, super helpful.

That's sweet! I'm glad you were able to put it into practice right away. It takes some practice like all things but it should help you become a better rider.

If you do a Slayer bike check can you discuss altitude vs slayer? And are there certain mellower EWS rounds that you would ride the Altitude on? Specific I know but it’s interesting to us bike nerds
  • 2 0
It's been a while since I rode the Altitude but I could make a quick comparison for you!

Great to see the whole trail ridden in real time. So you have all the features and lines memorized after one walk through?
  • 5 0
Yes! I did spend a lot of time talking through the lines in my previous video but that was more than I needed.

@JesseMelamed: well it confirms that you and other pro bikers function at a god-like level.

Awesome videos. Love to see you ride. When "wizard burial ground" is open this season, it would be amazing to see a video tutorial for that trail.
