Earlier this Summer we decided to take a road trip to Whistler and shoot some local rippers. We didn't have any plan on how or what types of riders we were going to find but we just went with the flow. After arriving in Whistler we made our way over to the bottom of Fitz like every mountain biker when they first arrive in Whistler.

After five minutes of watching fellow riders hit the GLC jump, we found our guy! Dominic a 19-year-old rider from Nelson, NZ. He landed one of the sickest jump to manuals we've ever seen. Realizing later he was part of the Loose Riders Whistler alliance we found his Instagram and hit him up. Later that week we met up to shoot and after realizing we were able to shoot some of his friends as well, we knew we were in for an awesome video. Over two days of shooting we came up with this. Stay tuned for our first full length dropping late summer with more rad content.

Best,
STV

Vaughan Collins throwing down a nice whip on the freshly rebuilt Crab Apple Hits. Vaughan is on the trail crew and rips! Also 19 years old and from Nelson as well.

Dom and Vaughan scoping out a Freeride line the Garbo zone of the bike park.

Dropping... Tandem style.

The views from Garbo during Junuary are awesome!

Dom boosting the famous No Joke gap.

More Freeride lines in the park.

Vaughan showing everyone how to properly hit the Dirt Merchant Hip.

You get the shot?

Kyam 19, from the Gold Coast throwing down a steezy toboggan on the Freight Train rock drop. Kyam is best friends with speed and shows some sick boss moves in the edit.

Vaughan getting steezy as well on the rock drop.

Dom going crazy down this line.

Always be hiking.

Unfortunately I believe Sam Pilgrim ruined the Wow factor of most future Whistler videos yesterday: youtu.be/jyq5ndvo1CY

I’ve said it many times here: At this point of History of MtB cinematography sending and shredding flow lines on DH bikes takes something exceptional in order to impress people. Jumping those big lines is not a proof of riding prowess either, park is overrated. Woooow, you can scrub Crabapple bits brah!

Well BMXers, 4Xers send bigger sht on their little bikes. And Sams run is only a proof for the less literate.

@WAKIdesigns: nah man there were some impressive lines and riding in there, that chute at the end is super gnarly. Doubt you could do any of these lines.
Btw the whip on crabapple was decent much better than many others at whip off last year cough cough Jordi lunn, Casey Brown and everyone will circle jerk over them later and claim they should be in rampage.

Good edit lads, if your getting critised on the pb comments you know your doing something right

@fphayton: I was speaking of “flow” trails. I didn’t say that whole Whistler with tens of miles of trails is easy and rideable on a DJ. Crabapple in Whistler is equal to 6ft table on Rampage due to possibility of falling off a cliff in case of a fail. But BMX SX tracks have this size stuff on them. Just watch a few vids on youtube. Some 4X tracks have giant gaps too. And some racers were complaining that stuff should be even bigger. Slope Style comps? Where you fly very high and consequences of falling are rather easy to realize once you think about it?

@fphayton: I just meant that at the current state of things it is extremely hard to make an impressive edit from Aline and Dirt Merchant. Didn’t mean to criticize them. But if you instead show up with a DJ...

@WAKIdesigns: I get it...loads of contents and videos to choose from, specially from Whistler, nowadays it takes something either very special or very ridiculous to stand out from the crowd.

I liked it. No slow-mo or hipster-inspired-fresh-out-of-a-cinematography-course shots. Just a bunch of dudes having a gay old time in the woods. Reminds me of some of the Earthed vids back in the day.
