PYGA Industries launch PYGA Mountainbikes Limited the new sales, marketing and distribution company for their handcrafted frames.

Set for global expansion, PYGA Industries have announced their UK based sales, marketing and distribution business with the launch of a brand new website and increased product range. PYGA Mountainbikes Limited will take the business to a new level by distributing to a wider range of markets including Europe, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America.

Founded in 2012 by Patrick Morewood, PYGA Industries is famed for its quality design and handmade production which is the result of a lifetime dedicated to riding, racing, designing and manufacturing frames at the highest level. Over the past 8 years, the PYGA team has evolved into a close-knit family of like-minded people, determined to fulfil the dream of bringing high-end quality bikes to the everyday rider in a friendly and affordable style. Continuing its evolution and taking distribution of the frames even wider, the new PYGA Mountainbikes Ltd will uphold the core values of the business, reaching riders in a personal and relaxed way, just a little further around the globe. Design and manufacture will continue in South Africa for onward distribution by PYGA Mountainbikes to the rest of the world, with many of the European frames being assembled and powder coated in Nottingham, England.

The brand new will showcase the handcrafted frames better than ever before. Introducing a new feature allowing you to create your dream frame, customers will be able to choose between 15 frame colours and 11 decal options, and the website will automatically show the chosen colour combination giving the customer confidence they have just created their perfect ride.

Partnering with leading brands including Rockshox suspension, Bike Yoke seat posts, Pembree pedals and All Mountain Style frame protection kits, the new website offers the platform to start a bespoke bike build with a much-increased product range.

The new website will also bring the names and faces of the PYGA family closer to customers with the contact details of a network of official world-wide distributors and ambassadors. PYGA USA, already established in North America by Howie Zink, will be joined by an increased international family who will be able to speak to and assist local customers by region with the purchase of their PYGA frame.

 Would be great to see a Pinkbike review of the Slakline... I ride one of the first Aluminium ones built in SA. Killer bike... WAY better than my previous dual suspension bike... an old Giant Reign.

 Been on a Slakline for the last three weeks, thanks to the guys at Day Zero in New Zealand. Bike is awesome, really well balanced a beautifully made.

 I have a oneten 29 which I still ride 3 times a week.. Its a great machine. As soon as they have more of a presence in the UK i'll look into upgrading to something more modern. PS when the suspension rocker cracked they sent me another from SA foc withing 5 days. Gives you confidence...

 Proud happy owner of a Pyga Stage Max .Great trailbike and cross country bike .Suspension works really well .Surprizingly good climber also .I also ride a SC tallboy and RM element .I ride all these bikes in the same week and same trails .The Pyga is a really sturdy and stiff frame .Excellent bike for a heavy rider like myself at 100kg and at 194cm i ride the XL Pyga and XXL SC and RM

 These guys are really nice here in the US. Almost bought a stage but the bike is non-boost frame... may look in the future if they update their technology

 Really? Because it makes a difference from non boost that you can feel? Just because something is new doesn't mean it's better

 @GlassGuy: I'd guess it's more of a compatibility issue with current parts. If you have several boost wheel sets, or if you plan on a future wheel upgrade, you're not going to want a non boost frame. You'd be limiting your choices.

 @GlassGuy: I wish boost wasn’t a thing, I have a no boost bike now and it is not easy to find wheels for it, but the good thing is I was able to get a set of king hubbed wheels barely used for about half of retail...too bad I won’t be able to find a fork to fit the front if I ever get a new bike.

 I don't think the prices are where they need to be in order to be competitive against the likes of Commencal or Polygon

 We do appreciate that our bikes are a little higher priced than the mentioned Commencal and Polygons which are fantastic bikes, however we are providing another great option for those looking for something a little different and a bit more bespoke at a great price. We don’t make our alloy bikes in Asia. PYGA are handcrafted in small quantities in Pietermaritzburg South Africa with love. ????????

 Personally I would rather a horst bike than those single pivot bikes. The commy and poly are nice but don't work for me as a rider. Now I've learnt they're made in RSA, i might put them on my list.

 Don't get me wrong, I'm sure these bikes are great, but I have a hard time getting excited about another horst link bike. Must be all those years at specialized dealerships.

 Who cares as long as the bikes work, and they propably do. I am happy for one more small independend company still around and still grabbing a foothold in the market.

 I previously went out of my way to buy bikes without Horst link (Spec mainly!) for no real actual reason other than a buddy who worked at a bike shop had a hate on for Specialized and indoctrinated me.

Then the patent expired, and a bunch of companies immediately switched to it, which made me think twice about it. Bought a Transition and now wouldn’t think twice about a Horst link.

I think the patent opening up has opened the doors for a lot of companies to get it dialled in the way they like and make some really awesome bikes. Hell... I’d even give a Spec a whirl if the opportunity came up!

I do still get a nerd boner over new, weird and out of the box suspension designs. I try to never buy two of the same brand or suspension type (yet) just to keep checking trying something new.

 I'm looking for a new budget-ish full sus bike. In my pricepoint the market is full of "generic horst link frames". But so many times something small or big is off with the bikes like spec, geo, price, so my actual choices are pretty slim.
While this isn't a budget bike, I say bring it on, flood the market even more with horst link frames. Big Grin

 @tkrug: I have owned many any still own 2 horst link bikes, they are great. I you nailed it when you said something to the effect of getting a new bike is more fun when you get something new.

 if i remember correctly, I believe it was a miss pronunciation of the founders name, by a manufacturer, LONG ago. (as told to me by the man himself).

 Thanks for asking. The name Pyga came from when I started out with our first bikes that were made in Asia, I spen 3 months over ther and acquired the nickname PYGA! I found out that it meant Pat my brother, for obvious reasons there was now western spelling for it so that’s how I spelled it.
I was looking for a brand name that was unlike anything else and needed to be shorter than Morewood. So it stuck.

 Can they work on the website some? I can’t tell if any of the bikes are 27.5 or how much travel they have. This information is typically easy to find.

 Are they still making the Carbon models? Or just in house alloy frames?

 We do still have our short travel carbon Stage and Stage Max. They are still being made in Taiwan. We in the final throws of a new carbon frame made in South Africa by Blackstone Tek. This will be available in very small quantities from next year. We are however in the process of prototyping some new and exciting Alloy models one of which is an alloy version of the new carbon. 118mm or 132mm rear travel options.
