Brook MacDonald! The Chuck Norris of DH!

Brook MacDonald doesn't abide by the laws of physics. The laws of physics abide by Brook MacDonald.

Until the finals run where he meets the dirt as always.
  • + 28
@Xc2dh1: you should present a more positive attitude. help brook out

@krazieghost: hes just salty cause he’d meet the dirt long before brook

You would know I’m salty wouldn’t you. @sosburn:

When Brook MacDonald falls the Earth is hurt.
  • + 14
@Xc2dh1: Suppose no one has ever told you you're coming across a bit of a bellend no?
  • + 9
Brook does no push ups - he pushes the world down
  • + 2
@freerideglory: I think xc2dh1 is truly invested in his sentiments. He may know Brook and have stuggled alongside him, seemingly always to no avail. But it's over now. Disappointment can hurt. I'm with you xc2dh1 (i think you mean xc0dh6), keep the faith buddy.

@freerideglory: Bellend is the troll community's mascot

 MAES!
  • + 8
 What a beast
  • + 12
We need tissot timing for every world cup
  • + 24
 A-Maes-ing 4th
  • + 0
@NickTerry: How is better than the normal live timing? Or have you missed it?
  • + 4
@NickTerry: uhh....no we don't. Read the most recent story on Worlds facts. It will be clear after reading.
  • + 15
...and VERY VERY threatening... look at the split times! He clearly lost the time into the last section... if he is capable to arrange this we may have world DH champ stripes running on the EWS next season... So Enduro Bro!
  • + 6
 @PauRexs: B E L G I A N P O W E R ... Goddamn he's faster than Gwin... imagine
  • + 2
@PauRexs: sorry to rain on your party, but you can’t wear the rainbow jersey outside the discipline you won it in.
  • + 5
@mi-bike: However you are allowed to wear the stripes on any jersey you have afterwards for the duration of your career.
  • + 3
@LoganKM1982: I think the stripes can only be displayed on the jersey in the same discipline. So even though say you win road or XC stripes, you can't put those on the sleeve of a DH race jersey later in your career. Just like you can't put them on the sleeve of a road race jersey if you with TT world champs. Subsequently he wouldnt be able to put them on an endure jersey....granted enduro isn't UCI so he can probably do whatever he wants...
  • + 1
Should have kept him on the roster...
  • + 1
@LoganKM1982: Yes that would be fun if he would decide to run them on the EWS no one could stop him... but maybe later the EWS had some strikes with it´s agreements with the UCI is turning in.. Anyway just a fun image to imagine.. let´s co-create... Big Grin
  • + 5
4th and chain broken half way down .. Definitely the next world'champ
  • + 2
@Travel66: and broken chain in last split ..
  • + 1
@ianswilson815: The rainbow stripes are the copyrighted property of the UCI and they would not allow them to be worn in an unaffiliated race series either. They take that protocol shit very seriously!

Otherwise you are correct that both the rainbow jersey itself and the rainbow collar/cuff bands of an ex-world champ can only be worn in the exact discipline they were won in.
  • + 0
@ianswilson815: Next year EWS will have a race caled Trophy of nations where the winning team will get UCI's rainbow stripes.

 Pulled from dirt
"The Brit pair were significantly ahead of the rest of the field but separated by just 0.6 in the battle to be fastest. Tahnee took sections 1 and 2 but crashed allowing Rach to fight back at the bottom and end up on top."

so Tahnee crashed and still kept a 0.6 gap? Well done
  • + 9
Holy shit Tahnee is on fire!
  • + 2
So that's what happened. I was wondering how the last section changed so drastically. At the end, Tahnee was behind by about .6 seconds. The first split was pretty even, then TS put 4 seconds (!) into RA, then RA gained one second on each of the last two splits. I was confused for a bit lol. This girl is on fire!
  • + 1
What happened with Miriam ? Says dsq.
  • + 1
@won-sean-animal-chin: ran outside of the tape, but she'll still race the final.
  • + 1
@ajayflex: oh ok thanks. She scares me when she really wants something. Like to see finish with a good one so it’s tight at the top
  • + 26
 "You might F*cking win Martin!"
  • + 4
 Theo Erlangsen 18th!!! YEEEEW
  • + 1
@Protato: I couldnt do any work all afternoon watching the live timing as some big names came down slower than him!
  • + 2
@Protato: haha, Protato is the best name yet. Sadly I’m more of an amatato...
  • + 21
So does quali mean they'll start in the order they qualified, or do they still start in the order of the start list that was realeased before quali? If so what's the point in doing quali runs? Confused, stupid, i dunno ????
  • + 7
Because only top 80 riders will ride the finals
  • + 6
@tstaudte: Are you sure?? Historically, all riders raced in World Champs
  • + 2
 @tstaudte: cheers dude
  • + 7
 @dhpig: 80 pases, new rule
  • + 25
@patricioescobar: Thx, just read the new rules and only top 80 riders. Too, bad, someone gets selected by their Nation, incurs the cost, and doesn't get to race. I thought having a national rider quota took care of having too many participants.
  • + 16
@dhpig: Yeah, it seems a little arbitrary as well. There are only 116 riders total or something so you are cutting 36 people's chance to represent their country for what reason? Timing? erosion? It doesn't seem like it would be insurmountable no matter what it is.
  • + 1
@dhpig: yup top 80 men for this year
  • + 5
@Patrick9-32: especially when top 40 women qualify and there’s on 32 racing!
  • + 1
@Patrick9-32: They have represented their country in qualification at the World Champs, they were too slow to progress to finals. No different to me to people incurring cost to go to Olympics and not getting past the heats in their events.

They should probably change the name from 'Qualifications' though, as I can see how it would be confusing.

I don't see a problem, have to cap it somewhere to keep it manageable for spectators/broadcast.
  • + 19
As much as I love Atwill and Jones, it just seems messed up that Gee didn't get one of there spots. There almost always outside the top 10-20 riders. Meanwhile Gee is always able to get shit done when it's all on the line. Go figure. My money is on the Bulldog! Go get'm Brook!
  • + 12
 Martin Maes 3:05!!!
Looks like the bar is going very high today.
  • + 8
I want nothing more than to see Brook take it home, he is everything that makes DH awesome and he deserves the crown 10 times over for the number of crazy runs we have seen over the years
  • + 11
 Fuck yeah Brook!!
  • + 10
 Connor mate yeah boi

RA and TS just over half a second apart!
  • + 1
Now sitting waiting for Greg Minnaar to get on course Smile
  • + 1
@mtbikeaddict: Yeah, but Tahnee was well ahead of Rachel at the second split. Appears (just from looking at these numbers) that she might have made a mistake in the subsequent section. And she closed in on the sections after that. So basically, anything could happen in the finals. If it were due to a mistake/stall, Tahnee rode faster here. But we all know Rachel always seems to be able to give that extra bit.
  • + 4
@vinay: Tahnee and Rachel are on a different league... but the real monster there is Cecile...
  • + 3
@Lagr1980: according to her instagram, Tahnee crashed mid way.
  • + 1
So that's what happened. I was wondering how the last section changed so drastically. At the end, Tahnee was behind by about .6 seconds.  How sad is it that the US can't even produce 1 Elite Women competitor.
  • + 6
What happend to Monika Hrastnik (DNF)?
  • + 6
 Also to Myriam Nicole dsq?
  • + 3
@vid1998: yep, wondering how does it affect her spot on the final startlist?
  • + 3
dont worry, every1 got her on the team^^
  • + 5
@Jarl666: No worries, they're both protected riders. HOPE Monika didn't get injured, that would be a real bummer...
  • + 2
@vid1998: Myriam Nicole hit the wrong side of a pole... Saw it on her insta? but will still ride the finals
  • + 2
Monika crashed, she was taken to the hospital, no news yet if she is injured.
  • + 1
@Sn4kes: Bummer, thanks for the info!
  • + 3
 @Sn4kes: damn, healing vibes
  • + 2
@atomlab31: If she's DSQ on qualies, she can still race finals ?
  • + 4
@Whipperman: Yes, you can see the "Q" on the right column
  • + 2
She is injured, fell on a rock with her hip. Cracked pelvis Frown
  • + 2
 @romuel: holy shiat Frown
  • + 1
@romuel: And boom goes most people's fantasy teams. Seriously though, that sucks. Frown
  • + 1
The Bulldog is hungry for some stripes but he might have to wait. I think that Gwinn wants those stripes more than anything else in his career and since he was out of the overall he has been focused on Worlds. He is holding his cards close to his chest and playing it cool during qualifications. I think if he doesn't get dealt a mechanical he will win worlds. He really doesn't have much time left. These new young guns are fast, and thirsty for wins. Gwinn's sun is setting. He will always be a top rider but everyone has their time to shine.
  • + 4
Fearon has been posting solid results this year. I hope he puts that down in the finals !
  • + 3
This year? The guys been top 10 overall for quite a few years now. It would be sick to see him finally win
  • + 1
@mollow: well, I more or less meant hes put in a full consistant year without injury.
  • + 1
@mollow: can't agree more, hope to see him get some podiums next year!
  • + 5
Paddy B killing it this season! hell yeah
  • + 1
Greg Minnaar had a slow one, but one of our other riders qualified 17th. Team SA for a medal.
Maes showing up soo fast, proves the new boys can fly. At least this one is totally unpredictable.
Maes for the Win?
  • + 4
Finally, Rachel and Thanee could be bffs. Vali Holl coming.
  • + 2
 Still 20 secs off
  • + 4
Fearon. Your time has come. Get some Bro.
  • + 1
It’s anybody’s guess on who will come out on top in the Elite Men’s race, it’s that close. Reckon Tahnee is going to pip Rachel in the Elite Women’s and it’d be great to see Katy make it an all British top 3.
  • + 3
 Dá-lhe Francisco Pardal!!!
  • + 2
 Muito bom!!!
  • + 3
It would be nice to see Tahnee and Kade on top spots tomorrow!
  • + 4
 Paddy for the strips
  • + 4
 MAES!
  • + 2
Maes fastest rider up until the third section. Really think he can be seen as one of the favourites to win the title.
  • + 1
And that's because he broke his chain half way down!
  • + 1

I can't see Gee Atherton in the results, did he have an issue?

 Move to Germany

@mollow: The race isn't in Germany. As you like to say... smarten up. Wink
  • - 2
@mtbikeaddict: oh, I know. But the live stream is available over there, it is geo-restricted FYI. So I will need to use a VPN to make redbull believe I am indeed in Germany.

But yeah, whatever you say, smart guy.

He had a rerun for some reason.

 Ending up on 8.
  • + 1
It's not over, Jack on track!
  • + 2
Did he get a re-run? He posted a time, then it disappeared, and his name went to the bottom again.

 OOoooooft what a men’s quali!!!

 Ooooeeee yeah...
  • + 2

  • + 2
@ORTOGONAL555: Sector 3 is special indeed. Vali didn't place first there. Rosy Monaghan did, somehow crossing that before she even finished sector 2.

  • + 1
@CantClimb: checked his Insta and his painted bike had FOX40 then see hes just posted a race shot with FOX49. Must have more than 1 painted bike!
  • + 3
@Travel66: Agreed! The promo photos definitly show a Fox40 (27.5) and his practice photo show him on a painted bike with a Fox49 (29)

Also a redbullbike post on instagram shows John Hall looking over a Worlds Painted with Fox49 on front!

EDIT: Upon further inspection, it appears the promo photos had 29" wheels with a Fox40 on it.
  • + 2
@jeffakalucas: I think it was just the decals for color matching. I guess Fox brought along some proper 49 decals and handed them off?
