It was only a matter of time before things started falling into place for Reece Wilson. Believe me when I say his performance last week was no flash in the pan he s hungry and capable of much more.

Oh look, Reece smoked everyone and Camille is right in the mix. Looking forward to thoughts from those commenters who said World Champs was a "lottery" and we would "see if they deserved their wins" on a drier track.
  • 97 0
It's because they now have go faster stripes
  • 15 3
I agree with you, but I don't think the track is dry today.
  • 16 0
They said rain was coming in. I'm assuming it's becoming a slopfest. Even Gee's course preview was faster than half the field's qualifying times including his own.
  • 18 1
Came here to say this...and so what if its wet. The man is fast!
  • 4 0
lots of rain today in maribor, race tomorrow‘s gonna be a wet one too. sunday‘s race should be dry.
  • 3 1
It wasn't dry lol, good luck!
  • 2 0
Looks like those stripes are giving wings Smile possibly new sponsors coming around the corner?
  • 13 0
OK, I admit I wasn't sure about the rain in Maribor, thus I wrote "drier" instead of "dry" - not expecting a slopfest of last week's magnitude, but who knows. I'll stand by my point that those two are fast and it wasn't a fluke Smile
  • 2 0
@striveCF15: Tomorrow will be considerably less rain than today. Saturday isolated showers, Sunday looking perfect.
  • 2 0
@chriskneeland: Gee should just commentate in his race run it might go faster
  • 1 0
@TheLoamDeranger: better than last weekends outlook around this time and we have two races!
  • 2 0
Amen. Wild concept, all of the WC guys and gals are fast af.
  • 4 0
 It’s 90% mental.

- Steve Peat.
  • 3 0
@jclnv: yep looks like some confidence has been built in Leogang for many in top 20.
  • 1 0
 Was that 45th in qualifying?
  • 72 1
That dan slack guy, wonder what sorta head angle he's runnin.
  • 53 7
10th guy is called Cumming Crhistopher. If you wanna wonder about other things as well.
  • 107 1
No.6 Seth Sherlock can find out surely.
  • 1 0
This whole thing is going to be entertaining
  • 5 0
@ThrillPhil46: 27th should have stuck to desert endurance races.
  • 3 0
 Reis nuno what's going on
  • 2 0
@tb927: He was not last place to be fair...beat zee Germans...
  • 5 0
 Luke is Mr Mumford’s son
  • 4 1
@dizIzib: some boy on a bike, mad skills and super humble too
  • 7 0
I think Dante Silva might get on the podium this weekend, but I'm not sure he's fast enough for first place
  • 46 1
 Blimey Reece - that's a big gap!
  • 9 1
Cathro would have placed second? Can't quite remember what could have been!
  • 38 1
Oisin up top again. The guy seemed to embody the happy go lucky Irish stereotype. “It was my first race on the World Cup as a Junior and I won the World Championship.” What a star, love it! Hope we continue to see more of Oisin.
  • 23 0
Certainly affirming that last weekend wasn't a fluke.
  • 6 0
@stretchza: mental game kicks in.. unlocks the beast after winning.
  • 4 0
Faster than Gwin & Minnaar. Impressive 18th time in the elite field.
  • 34 0
Hope in the future it becomes economically viable for broadcasters to air the live qualifying as is done in other sports, it would be great to watch it shape up.
  • 3 0
Riders starting every 30 seconds, that makes it not very interesting for live streaming
  • 20 1
Oisin went faster than Gwin, Minnarr, Wallace, Luca etc and he is a 1st year junior (16 years old)...
... early days but could we be seeing the emergence of a new name to worry the big boys already

Must be some changes in the track due to the weather. Smile

You do not realize that it is a very difficult year for certain athletes, they have not been able to prepare and not everyone is good at rolling around in the mud like Pigs. According to you, then, is Pau Menoyo a better Rider than Luca Shaw? Let's be consistent please.
  • 21 0
Reece put down an absolute heater. That guy is kinda fast, I guess.
  • 5 1
He has some future in the sport !! may be the moto background will help him become something in the coming years ; )
  • 20 1
Damn Thibaut pulling out those French lines
  • 2 0
Haha - it showed 3:10 for a couple of seconds then lopped off 25 seconds. No idea what's happened to Danny and Loic! Edit: Corrected now
  • 2 0
he still laid down a heater though!
  • 1 0
timing stuffed up. Loic and Dannys time still going after they crossed the line.
  • 1 0
@brownies: for sure. 2nd now that they've fixed it
  • 18 0
 Go on Oisín!!!!
  • 18 0
 Tracey! wow girl.
  • 16 4
Weird that someone who smoked them in the slop last week looks to have done the same again, what's the excuses this time, is it just that he's maybe a worthy champ and a top rider?
  • 1 0
 Success breeds success Smile
  • 14 1
 Reece! Yes!
  • 8 0
Reis and Bandeira... think this time we gonna have more Portuguese on the top 10 WC elite too soon...
  • 9 0
Reece put down a lap wow!
  • 4 0
No way Reece is losing that if you look at who's still to come - all of the fast names are down already. Not quite sure on the start list order, seems to be a list of two halves for some reason. Maybe because many riders haven't raced in the last year so are missing UCI points?
  • 7 0
Tracy Hannah!! She knows she can beat the field. This weekend might prove she’s stronger than ever! Smile
  • 6 0
Reece Wilson on a killa roll right now, these west conditions really suiting the British riders
  • 6 1
So the new world champ will be the last rider to take the start tomorrow... let's see how he will manage his new status of favorite.
  • 9 3
Thibaut finally making his mark in Elites. This kid is going places.
  • 15 0
“Finally” is a strange way to phrase it considering it’s his first elite Word Cup. Haha

He’s going to be a force for a long time though for sure.
  • 3 2
@wilbersk: Season started really late and the wait was too long. B-)
  • 5 0
Great run from Reece again. Matt Walker also having another good run in 3rd.
  • 6 0
So sad that Vali's whole first Elite season is effectively over.
  • 5 0
Jack is on fire !! yeahhhh
  • 5 0
 Reece And Moir - consistency
  • 7 0
There really is something different about Jack Moir this season, very aggressive and loose on the bike. Quite impressed
  • 1 0
@Arierep: he's not injured this year
  • 1 0
@spaceofades: well, can't argue with that one
  • 5 0
We'll have to rebrand as 'Reece Only Springs' if he keeps this up..
  • 3 1
it looks like very wet right now Frown
  • 2 0
There's no overall DH world cup champion this year right? So for the protected guys this is more like an extra timed training run?
  • 1 0
Is that correct? I hadn’t read that.
  • 2 0
I haven't heard this? There's no overall EWS champion but as far as I know DH series is proceeding as normal in that respect?
  • 8 0
Apparently there will be an overall if Lousa is going ahead...
  • 1 0
@nathanhughes: Ah cool. Just saw there was no xc world cup champ and figured the same would be true for DH.
  • 2 2
@Trailsoup: Seems weird - 4 races at two tracks, back to back can justify a WC overall winner - but hey - it's 2020!
  • 7 1
@neimbc: if world champion can be decided by 1 race then surely world cup can be decided by 4
  • 2 0
@humoroususername: Good point - I'll give you that!
  • 1 1
@GrandMasterOrge: 2020 EWS Champion. Moir. Jack Moir.
  • 3 0
That Irish Lad seems to have the goods so far and is he only a first year ? Hate to be a jnr if he is
  • 5 0
 C'mon Reece!!!!
  • 2 0
Is again pretty much done? I know he typically doesn’t push hard in qualifying, and he’s had injuries, but has he had any decent (for him) results since leaving YT?
  • 2 0
last season a 5th and 6th coming off injury for first year with Intense. Not on a good trend but let's see after a couple races. He can be very good in the wet (MSA 2017 being one of the best DH race runs ever in my opinion).
  • 4 0
 GO TRACEY!!! 3
  • 3 1
I'd like pinkbike to give me my fantasy points based on qualifying please!!

  • 1 0
 Yes Dak! Knoxville shredder
  • 1 4
@betsie You really think that the conditions were the same this morning, the same for everyone, the Juniors had a better track and the elite worse, we are in a very complicated year where not all runners and other athletes have been able to prepare equally. Stop making absurd comparisons.
  • 1 0
Good to see Jack flying. Maybe the old bike wasn't much chop.
  • 1 0
 Where's the Denim Destroyer?
