 Seeing so many riders born after 1990 is so sad. They never had the infinite joy of seeing Jurassic Park in theaters.

 They do travel in herds!

 @slayersxc17: We have a T-Rex!
  • 1 0
 I thought that too!
  • 2 0
 @Murph0103: Clever girl
  • 1 0
 @raditude: he's going to eat Minnaar? Excellent!
  • 1 0
 They'll get a chance. Life, uh, finds a way.
  • 2 0
 @Drover: For dinnaar... Razz
  • 17 0
 Hope the hotseat is comfortable as Greg Minnaar is going to be sat in it for a while.
  • 4 1
 Is Kim Jong-un going to watch? Wink
  • 13 0
 @martin737: no, he's outraged that the West has cruelly neglected to invite riders from the DPRK and denounces the European hegemony of first class mountain bike racing. He's yet to decide whether to turn Switzerland into "the mouth of hell" by raining down nuclear missiles "of tasty, tasty vergence."
  • 3 5
 @egb81: NK can barely hit the water between them and Japan. Make it all the way to Switzerland with nukes??? I doubt their nukes can leave the launch pad before exploding. So I hope he trys it.

 @Boardlife69: the fearless and immortal leader says his network of nefarious evil doers have successfully sabotaged every one of Gwin's world champ runs in order to smite the imperialist pig dogs from claiming the fabled rainbow jersey. I wouldn't test him if I were you, else Nino Schurter might mysteriously snap his chain!

 @egb81: Thought that POTUS has secured the win for Gwin during the NK-US Summit in Singapore.
Seem like GOAT is still Kim's favorite though... Wink
  • 8 1
 @martin737: POTUS doesn't know what a bike is. The glorious leader refers to POTUS as a 'tangerine shit gibbon'. He's much more polite about Gwin, though I hear he favours Phil Atwill because of his effortless style and ability to keep it real on a hardtail.
  • 2 0
 @egb81: Kim is that you? I was your mate at Liebefeld-Steinhölzli school in Switzerland. Please make sure that Gwin wins this time, thank you Wink
  • 4 0
 @martin737: Your petty begging is symptomatic of the West's weakness and deserves nothing but scorn. Atwill is the chosen one.
  • 1 0
 @egb81: Changing my roster, thx for the intel Wink
  • 3 0
 "Tangerine shit gibbon". Wonderful.

 So there are 106 rider in the quali list.
Top 80 + protected riders going through.
Come on UCI, just give everyone the possibility to represent their country.
It's World Champs man!
  • 4 0
 Great idea for 2019: I suggest that the winning order of the qualifying round is the same order that the riders race.

Lets make it happen UCI!

 Countdown to a post about Gee not being on the list....3....2....1....
  • 3 3
 Gee was robbed
  • 1 2
 Wheres Gee? ???? Sorry, couldnt help it...! Even Rachel had a poor qualifier!
  • 1 1
 Gee is doing hardline. World champs is the boys qualifier to go race with the men Smile

 No elite women from USA? There are entries from Thailand, Chile, and Korea, WTF has happened to the pro US program?
  • 1 0
 on a good note, there are 3 US women in the juniors. I hope they stick with it!
  • 3 2
 maybe they are too busy going to "races" with kegs and adults dressed with a diaper?
  • 2 0
 Being selected by USA Cycling just gets your name on the start list really. You still gotta get yourself and bike to Switzerland, and contrary to popular belief, women are still not as well supported in this industry (especially outside the Top 5 World Cup ranked).
  • 2 0
 They all become lauren daney
  • 4 1
 Shouldnt USA Cycling front the bill? Thats how it works in first world countries.
  • 1 0
 @Boardlife69: there is a whole system who they pay for and what each level get. I think Luca and Gwin get paid for (like the team wouldn’t) after there it’s all partial. I remember the jrs in previous years had go fund me setup to get donations to help pay.
  • 1 0
 @mfoga: Thanks for the imput. It seems its a shame that the U.S cant afford to send a whole team considering how many bike companies are based in the U.S.

 If start driving now could get there by Sunday to watch live? but you see a lot more on big screen, so happy to watch on a smaller screen
  • 1 0
 It takes 8-9 hours drive from Calais.
  • 2 1
 Why is Martin Maes a protected rider? I thought you had to have a high enough ranking and I would be surprised if taking part, and winning, 1 race was enough
  • 1 0
 New rule this year......top 20 elite men and top 10 elite women in the last World Cup overall rankings are protected and can ride the finals regardless of their result in the qualifying round. Maes ended up 20th in the World Cup overall.
  • 4 1
 He is ranked 34th in UCI points currently... www.uci.org/mountain-bike/rankings
  • 1 0
 Ranking is UCI
  • 4 0
 UCI is Rank.
  • 1 0
 He also races one other, Ft William, and was 10th, so he picked up points there as well
  • 1 0
 @tbell1979: UCI ranking is different from WC ranking as it includes points earned in national and other cat 1 races.
  • 7 3
 Scribd still SUCKS
  • 3 0
 We need a Puerto Rico team too
  • 3 2
 The USA can't even get the power turned back on there. World Cup team seems a bit unrealistic.
  • 2 0
 @HsawAknow: ask Pastrana why
  • 1 0
 With windham, not ronnie
  • 1 0
 Pastrana 199!!
  • 1 0
 @fracasnoxteam: i like windham better
  • 1 0
 Can someone explain why there is qualifying in the first place? As a Canadian I'm not allowed to watch the broadcast so I won't be there to hear Rob explain it.
  • 1 0
 Not one female Canadian junior rider? Too bad so many young female shredders out there on our BC trails. Ladies remember Holly Feniak took in 2012. That could be you!
  • 2 0
 Thailand สู้โว๊ย

 Worlds needs a Wild Card...where they could "invite" a handful of riders they deem worthy to "F" up the soup!
  • 4 0
 @bizutch: alphabet soup?
  • 9 3
 #GeeToo
  • 1 0
 Are you semi-retired also??
  • 2 0
 Did they add a real qualifying this year or did I miss it before?
  • 1 0
 At least there are some Junior Women representing the US
  • 1 0
 Go Elliot Jamieson Go! Go Canada Go!
  • 1 0
 Elliott for the win!!!
  • 1 0
 Scribd crashed my device so hard that it restarted on its own.
  • 2 1
 Minnaar is gonna have a long wait in the hot seat.....
