Call me old or maybe I just don't get it, but that shot of Greg, little whip, coming in hot, perfect posture on bike makes me soo happy:

It's the little things that count, sometimes it's more about style than substance....

didn't intend to spend 15 min of a workday reading Cam McRae's entire rant about the commentators in 2014, but here we are. For the record, I remember them and they were truly awful
  • 12 0
Oh god, so bad. Credit where credit's due—Cam's take was on the money.

Regarding Norbs vs Norby, to be fair to the commentators, he does call himself Norby in the following clip:

www.pinkbike.com/video/134138

I can't help but wonder if some intern saw that clip when putting together a factoid sheet for all the riders.

@charmingbob: yeah I never got the hate for that, he literally calls himself Norby and everyone disagreed with him LOL

The canyon gap flip is one of the biggest moments in rampage history. What a legend! Zink's Oakley drop flip and 360 are up there too
  • 35 1
Brendog was the most robbed rampage rider of all time
  • 1 1
 Pocket-checked yearly.
  • 4 4
More liked the most overhyped, everything he did was way smaller than what the other riders were doing, maybe next time if he goes he should take some real trailbuilders instead of his dry guy mates...

 21. How many times did Kyle Strait Win using the same "safe" run (the suicide off a drop) #popularitycontest
  • 13 4
As many as he could - not his fault. What's your win tally?
  • 6 3
How many riders pull correct sui’s (not kissing bars) on even a small dbl much less a huge ass natural drop in the wind. A committed sui is just as gnarly as a 3 or whatever. Go give it a shot and get back to me.
  • 2 1
 After healing, try a shouldabuzza
  • 4 1
have you not noticed that he does the sui off the biggest drop on course every time, sprinkles in other tricks (backflips, supermans, others) oh yeah and starts his run with THE gnarliest line off the top of the mountain? Sounds like a perfect recipe to win Rampage to me... I'm surprised he hasn't won more honestly.

Bizet is such an underrated rider and the only guy I know who can fall a sleep on a couch sober at a raging party.
  • 33 0
Damn ! Thanks for the support man
  • 5 0
@BizetAntoine: For sure. UtahFox’s house 2019. Hope to see you at another Rampage. Double flip is no joke.

@BizetAntoine: Do I remember right that you broke both wrists trying this the year before? Such a good comeback!

All I can say is the difference from Wades first winning run to what they do now is enormous,

What changed in 21 years? Bikes? What people think is possible? Training?

What a change!
  • 12 1
Bikes, people progressing proving what is possible and more knowledge of the terrain, time spent building lines, number of people helping in building and carrying bikes, use of sandbags, water lines, better tools, etc. Everything has changed.

  • 10 0
Wade Simmons and Cedric Gracia are still alive and kicking. Pinkbike should ask them that exact question.
  • 6 0
From memory... people like Berrencloth coming to the sport from a BMX background, helped change the perspective and progression of what was possible
  • 1 0
@bocomtb: Its already been asked, a lot.
  • 12 0
I don't mean this as a bad thing, but I think Norbs getting robbed was probably one of the best things to happen to him. His popularity is absolutely deserved but, a LOT more people know about him because of it. Can you imagine what a Pinkbike comment section would have been without it?!
  • 16 0
I will always remember him most from that early coastal crew edit that we all watched on repeat like 15 years ago.

  • 2 0
On Chrome, if you CTRL + Click, the link opens in a new tab.
  • 3 1
Or the answer could just appear.... but gotta get those clicks
  • 2 0
@barp: or if you click with the scroll wheel... game changer
  • 1 0
@n-lagasse: Yeah, I used to do that when I was using a mouse instead of a laptop touchpad.

Cool quiz and thanks for the automatic links to relive some of the epic moments.

 20. What %-age of riders from first year to present have had health insurance coverage for that event by their sponsors or through the event itself?
  • 4 0
 22. Who was the only person to enter every single rampage event -Kyle Strait
  • 5 0

  • 2 0
Was the Zeb the first single crown fork used in Rampage? Or was it a Totem, 66 or Travis?
  • 9 0
 Totem in 08 I believe.
  • 1 1
Does inverted count as single crown?
  • 2 0
@the-lorax: did someone take their Shiver SC to rampage?
  • 1 0
@the-lorax: not if it has an upper crown (Greg's Dorado in 2003).
  • 1 0
@onetrykid: Yep. Scroll to the first picture under "suspension": www.redbull.com/us-en/historical-bikes-of-red-bull-rampage

There's also been plenty of Dorados used, as well as the old Avalanche inverted fork on the Canfield bikes (several of them pictured in that link). Given the rawness of the original courses, I don't think anyone even bothered to consider using a true single crown until more recently, so you may be right about the Zeb

It's interesting that the version of the Canadian anthem chosen by the editor is performed by the choir of the very same army which has been and still is committing war atrocities in Ukraine as we speak.
