Quiz: Can You Guess The Year Based On The Rampage Results?

Nov 23, 2019
by Sarah Moore
Drop cliffs not bombs. Reed Boggs leading by example.

How well do you know the history of the biggest freeride event of the year? Sure, you probably know that Semenuk and Sorge are the undisputed kings of the event with three wins apiece, but what if you were to dig a bit deeper? Off the top of your head could you tell me who came tenth in Rampage in 2015? How about fourth? Or even second? When we get down to it, it's generally only the very fastest racers whose results we remember and the years start to blend together as time passes.

It's time to put your Rampage knowledge to the test in this quiz to see how well you remember the event's results. We didn't want to make it too easy, so we've included every year between 2001 and 2019 in the multiple-choice options, even though the event has only run 14 times in its history. Keep count of how many you got right and what years were the trickiest for you to remember in the comments below.

That's the most clunky online quiz ever
  • 72 1
Literally gave up after clicking on more Xs than I do to access porn
  • 13 7
@sewer-rat: I think the quiz did its job then. It made it clear you cannot determine the year by the podium.
  • 8 3
I could code one better in an hour and I haven't coded a webpage in years. Smh
  • 5 1
@sewer-rat: just hover over the links and keep an eye on the target address. Only one is different.

The one that ends in 18 is the correct one. Still the quiz does suck hard.

Pinkbike seriously needs to update this entire website. If that's how they resort to doing quizzes, then this place is drastically out of date. The forum could do with narrowing down too, so there isn't 17000 subcategories
  • 15 0
Also, the separate 29er category in the buy/sell
  • 1 1
Just don’t update it like @Microsoft did with Windows 8 platform.....where everybody universally hated it
  • 7 1
@SirWonky: Windows 8 ? Maybe you werent around for windows Millennium.

Forums in general area dying breed. Pb should take a leaf from Newschoolers (a ski forum), where there's basically 2 categories, ski talk and non-ski talk. That means every thread created gets lots of exposure and therefore lots of replies etc.
  • 5 5
The website is fine its just whoever decided to make this quiz is a little slow. Even smaller time websites do better quizzes.
  • 3 3
@JamesGTi: none of this is forum. Head on over to the forum section.
In 5 years when everyone is finally done with social media, forums will make a comeback
  • 3 1
@owlie: social media isn't going anywhere it's been alive and well for 20 years.
  • 1 1
@makripper: forums have been for longer than that. BBS and dumps?
  • 1 1
@owlie: you were talking about social media. But yes. I started in forums around 1994 or 1995.
  • 1 1
@JamesGTi: You're using NS as an example for PB to follow?

Let me know when NS starts a fantasy league that gives out tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes, hires professional industry people and legendary athletes to provide original quality content for the site, sponsors the biggest events of the year, provides a platform for charities to raise money for charities (F*ck Cancer charity raised over $300k one year), holds a raffle giving away prizes once a day throughout the month of December, etc. etc.

Yeah, PB should really emulate NS.... good lord.

@scott-townes: well, you're an idiot. I'm talking about the Pinkbike FORUM. Not the website/company in general.
  • 1 1
@JamesGTi: Well you're an idiot because aside from the two main NS forums, its completely dead. Its even rare in the two main forums to get as many posts as most things on PB.
  • 1 1
@scott-townes: yeah it's dead as a dodo. But it makes the best of a bad situation by condensing everything into pretty much two categories. Try posting anything on the Pinkbike forum and you're lucky to get a reply cause there's a billion subcategories that nobody can be arsed to check. That's why the Pinkbike forum is also dead, despite the website as a whole probably getting more hits on some days that NS gets in a year combined.

I think this is the post Pole hangover. Boring. Change the channel. That was some great click bait.

Are we waiting for one more cracked frame review?

@PocoBoho: Yeah, the Rocky Mountain that snapped while Taj was riding in Whistler. When's that getting published..

Red Bull is getting their money's worth out of Pinkbike this year.

 No, I can‘t.

Doesn't your browser show the url the link goes to when you hover over the potential answers (the years). Pick the one that links to www.pinkbike.com/photo/17489518. Or basically pick the one that links to another url than all other potential answers to that same question.

The real quiz question, is it really Rampage if Norbs doesn’t get robbed?
  • 2 1
I think Brendog might have got robbed twice after you forgot to mention him in your comment!?!
