Last night’s Phat Wednesdays presented by Kokanee ventured into new territory for the first time ever with the race starting in Garbo Zone and finishing in Fitz Zone. The brand new track for the series had 163 racers testing their lung capacity on a track that was over 5 minutes long for all but one racer. The track required both technical skills as well as endurance with riders starting on Duffman and then a pedal fest on Golden Traingle before finishing up on World Cup Single Track and Ho Chi Min.
Shane Gayton gapping the wood work on Duffman to take the win in Master Male
Chris Kovarik was once again the fastest man of the night with a 4:54.14 and the only racer to crack the 5 minute mark. Denis Courchesne and Jack Iles rounded out the open men podium. Claire Buchar was back to claim her spot at the top of the podium with a time of 5:31.22. In master male it was the little bike that took Shane Gayton to his 3rd win of the season, with Craig Wilson and Steve Storey taking 2nd and 3rd. Georgia Astle put in a strong race in Junior female with a time that would have put her in 3rd spot in open female and Finn Iles once again took out the Junior Male category.
The evenings heat was beaten with some ice cold Kokanees on our favourite patio, the GLC. And some awesome draw prizes were handed out thanks to our sponsors, including a Roc Shox Pike Fork, A Go Pro camera, Maxxis Tires, clothing from Dakine and other sweet gear.
We will be taking a week off from Phat Wednesdays to let the kids show their stuff at the 2nd Phat Kidz race of the summer, July 23rd. This week the kids will be hitting up B-line to Ho Chi Min. More details can be found

Whip It event will be moving closer to all the action - originally scheduled for Saturday, July 19, this event will now take place during the Crankworx Whistler festivities on August 11th. The change will allow more whip-thirsty athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills.
