Race Report: Bright Futures at Round 2 of the North West Cup in Silver Mountain

Jul 22, 2020
by Casey & Scott

The middle of July found the NW Cup entering Phase 2 at Silver Mountain Bike Park in Kellogg, ID. The mountain hosted many riders excited to get back between the tape and challenge each other over the incredibly rough and loose courses provided at the top of Silver Mtn. With Silver boasting the longest Gondola in North America at 3.1 miles, a lodge at the top and great views and weather for the whole weekend, many racers and their families took a ride to the top to hang out for the day, and head back down either with a long bike ride, or equally enjoyable download in the gondola.

Racing was incredible, with tight times, and some upsets. With 4 of the 5 fastest times on the day being from the JR. X Men we have a healthy future ahead of us. That on top of the younger categories many times boasting over 30 riders per category we will have tight racing for a while to come. Nik Nestoroff took the win in Pro men, Ella Erickson taking the women in Pro Women, Matthew Sterling winning JR. X Men, and Julia Lofqvist Traum taking the win in JR. X Women.
