More riders than ever joined the Reverse Components Austrian Gravity Series in 2019

Austria's national downhill series is on a high. At four races more than 200 riders - from the under 13 category to the well aged men class - took part.

The Reverse Components Austrian Gravity series was called to life in 2017, to make for an easy start into the downhill sport. One day events, tracks without let's-get-it-over-with sections and a very relaxed atmosphere are the ingredients.

The recipe seems to work. Especially with the youngsters. Starting from age 11, riders can take part. And the young racers not only took part, but really left their mark this year. The fastest in the U15, U17 and junior category hammered times down the mountains that would have put them within the top 10 of the elite men class.

2019 saw some well-known tracks for riders of the Austrian Gravity Series. Königsberg, Windischgarsten and Mariazell have proven worthy with their natural old-school downhill tracks. The legendary Semmering joined in as the final venue. Surely the most challenging one of this season with slippery grass turns, bike park berms and tricky rock and root sections.

"The Reverse Components Austrian Gravity Series is a cup, where you can dip into downhill racing without any hassle. This is where an absolut newbie on an enduro bike feels just as welcome as the world cup pro on a free weekend", Christoph Berger-Schauer from the organizing LINES magazine explains the philosophy behind the series.

191 riders made it into the overall ranking. In some classes the fight for the crown boiled down to the time of the very last race run - like in the U13 category. These are the overall winners of 2019: U13 female: Johanna Groschupfer (Bikepark Königsberg) U13 male: Julian Maier (Tulln) U15 weiblich: Lea Barsa (Sportunion Hinterbrühl) U15 male: Nikolas Kolle (GIANT Stattegg) U17 female: Sophie Gutöhrle (GRAVITY-ROOKIES) U17 male: Felix Sumann (Gebirgsradverein Windischgarsten) Juniors male: Florian Grilnberger (Granit Gravity) Women & Juniors female: Helene Fruhwirth (Ciclopia/Haibike/Troylee) Men: Boris Tetzlaff (Sportsnut, Sick Series) Masters 1: Camilo Sanchez (suspensionlab) Masters 2: Johannes Hwang (Team Dorrong Enduro)

Signs are pointing towards an expansion for 2020. As a national racing series, the Reverse Components Austrian Gravity Series is looking to spread races geographically better over the country. Especially racers from the west will be profiting more from this move. Dates for 2020 are in the working and will be published on the facebook page: www.facebook.com/AustrianGravitySeries
