All good things must come to an end and with the 4th round of the Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup in Ravesndale we wrap up the Irish 2022 enduro season. The day couldn't be better with spectacular weather, even warm for Irish standards, with the right amount of mud, moisture and temperature.
More than a hundred riders showed up for the last race of the enduro season to enjoy a great day doing what they love the most, riding bikes and having a good craic. With some of the important Irish riders out for the Trophy of Nations there were some points for the grab to improve the overall standings. Maeve Baxter continues to be one of the main contenders to the podiums in any race she shows up and today was not an exception, with a clean sweep of all 5 stages. Melissa Anderson followed 2:10.29 behind, Simone Okelly third and closed the podium Colleen Mc Cann. On the overall standings, the promising young rider Hannah Mullin, kept her first place overall, she was out in Finale Ligure for the Riders Trophy U21 in Finale Ligure. Niamh McKiverigan was also racing abroad but had enough points to keep her second place overall. Melissa Anderson slotted third after her second place today. Maeve Baxter and Eilis Davey closed the fourth and fifth positions.
In the men's category, things were not so clear as the first three riders on the overall today won two or one stage. It was Callum Moorris winning the overall with Chris Brown just 0:05.2 behind. By winning the race today in his category, young Callum Morris took the opportunity to get himself all the way up to second place season overall just behind Gary Donaldson, out to Finale Ligure. Joel Hamilton was third of the day winning one of the stages. Master James "JMac" Mac Ferran was 4th and Daniel Lappin closed the podium for the men. Matheus Neitzke was second on the Senior category with a few costly mistakes here and there. Nathan Fitzsimmons closed the Senior men's podium.
So the overall season result for men has Gary Donaldson first, Callum Morris second, Kelan Grant, also part of the Irish team couldn't be present but had enough points to preserve his 3rd position overall. Chris Brown, winner of Senior men on the last race today in Ravesndale secured his 4th place. And Gavin Carroll, currently recovering from a nasty crash (get well soon Gav!) closed the overall podium with just 2 races in his pocket.
See you all next year!
