Red Bull Rampage Evolution - More Digging

Sep 30, 2010
by Fraser Britton
Another blistering hot day of digging is what was in store for most riders today at Rampage. Temperatures once again soared north of 100 degrees F, so hot in fact that most riders didn't ride until very late in the day (5:30PM+) if at all.

Read on,Many riders got their lines dialed and put the finishing touches on them, while others got most of their grunt work done and are hoping to ride tomorrow. There are some massive lines about to go down, check out where Canada's Kenny Smith is going below...

Kenny Smith is about to go huge into this bowl on the far right. Check out the landing strip they built.

Yup, that's the line right down the middle, it is absolutely gigantic and even Kenny doesn't want to push his luck, saying only "It's one of those lines you only want to do once."

photo
It is so hot and dusty here, even the staging areas are being watered down to keep the choking dust to a minimum. There's a very limited supply of water on site, and it has to be trucked in, so this will give you an idea of how bad the dust can actually get.

photo
Water up here does more than keep the dust down, it's pretty crucial to make sure your line stays put for the next couple of days. No water and it'll be crumbling. The buggy with the water tank on the back is the most popular vehicle in town.

photo
Gee Atherton, Stevie Bell, Justin Frey and Clay Porter start to get Gee's lines dialed, way way up high off of ridge one.

Tools are everywhere this week. Keep an eye on the ground, or you may turn into a cartoon and get a shovel handle in the face.

Its going to be about 7 or 8 hours behind the UK... As far as I can tell.
So maybe start checking online at around 7-ish pm.
Any other opinions guys?

I live in Colorado which is 7hrs behind blighty. Utah is the next State east but in the same time zone. So whatever time Rampage is on live in Utah add 7hrs. The four time zones in the US are, from east to west and separated by 1hr, as follows- Pacific-Mountain-Central-Eastern. Utah is mountain time. New York is -5hrs for reference. Hope this helps.

We're 8 hrs ahead of Pacific Daylight Time. But the time given is Pacific Standard Time, we're 9 hrs ahead of that. Maybe they mean PDT though, so I'd try at 8pm and prob 7 to be safe!

using the internet are the hard way...asking other people are the easy! I Norge kan man se Rampage klokka 7 på kvelden^^

In america we have Pacific standard time so Im guessing its PST not PDT
  • 1 0
PST is -7 hours behind GMT, however the UK is currently GMT +1 due to daylight saving, so we are currently 8 hours ahead of PST. So itll be at 8pm.

Snickker, please read the link I attached above. The event is taking place
"PDT", regardless of what the pinkbike says, because that area is on "daylight" time, just like most, but not all, of North America. Daylight time is always + 1 hour. The Pacific time zone is normally 8 hours ahead of UST/GMT. During DST, pacific is -7 GMT, and London is +1 GMT, equaling an 8 hour difference. In standard time, pacific is +8 GMT, and London is GMT, so again, the difference is 8 hours. The only time the difference is not 8 hours is when one county switches between DST and Standard Time on different dates. For example, this year, the UK switches to standard time on October 31, whereas most North America switches on November 7, so, basically for a whole week, the time difference between pacific and London will only be 7 hours, after which it will be back to the normal 8 hour difference.

I worked it out as 7pm here in Spain, which would mean 6pm in the UK, but I may be wrong....

Anyone know what time it will be on exactly(date/time)? Or even what time it will be on here in Asia???
  • 1 0
It starts Sunday, 3rd October, 12 am.
How much time difference there is depends on where you live exactly in Asia.
Anyone know if it's for free to watch it here?
  • 1 0
 It is free to watch.

In Asia... you do realize that Asia stretches over 10 times zones from the Bosphorus to the Bering Straight? But based on the flag, I'm guessing you are referring to S. Korea. It starts at 12PM PST, which is GMT - 7. South Korea is GMT + 9.

Remember the time change that may be taking place in your country tonight!!
