2013 RETROSPECTIVE

RAMPAGE

As our Pinkbike Media Team starts to assemble in Virgin, Utah, we are taking a moment to look back at some amazing shots and highlights from last year. And in doing so we are also paying homage to the 'old' Rampage site as we all move on and break ground with exciting new potential. Stay tuned as we are just days away from unveiling the new location through the eyes of these four photographers; Sterling Lorence, Margus Riga, Colin Meagher, and Paris Gore.

Still some work to be done before training.

The rain finally broke late Thursday afternoon sending in some glory as the day came to a close.
The rain broke late in the week last year and drove everyone off the site for a day.

Near day s end thunderstorms rolled in and riders bailed the hill as quickly as possible. The rain-forecast to continue off and on overnight and into the morning-may scrub tomorrow s practice day which could push quali to Saturday--and eliminating Saturday as a build day. Should that happen be prepared to see a LOT of poaching going on during the finals as the riders who have to qualify will have zero time to dig their own finals lines. On a plus note if the weather does come in hard enough to eliminate Thursday as a practice day look to see some really well built features when the dirt s wet out here the ability to build amazing lines goes up exponentiallly.
There was a mass exodus as thunder and lightening threatened to break out.

  • + 12
yea they made the retrospective this year (2014) but by nature a retrospective is looking back hence why its about last year (2013).... i can see how it would be confusing though ...

Is it? It looks small, but hard to tell...either way, please be good shooters out there/anywhere(shoot no glass, pick up ur brass, use backstops)

Pretty sure that's a Red Ryder BB gun...
  • + 1
Kinda hard to tell on my phone but looks like a Marlin lever action.
  • + 1
I'd bet its a .22. Stock looks too thin to be a shotty...unless its really old. I have a red ryder, looks a lil different and doubt hed waste his time with a bb gun.
looking forward to doing some shooting out there(away from mtb). I can actually use my standard capacity magazines once out of kalifornia Smile

I'd carry a shotgun too if I got robbed
  • + 2

  • + 1
oh no i got it ...it just didnt require a response for your own validation :p lol
ps the best part of the movie wasnt the bb gun .. it was the leg lamp ! lol ... kinda making me wanna watch that now
  • + 1
Haha that and the bunny costume on christmas morning was pretty great. I dont think the younger peeps on here got it so i figured i would throw in a little clarification, but fair enough.

I friggin hate redbull rampage. SO MUCH. Why you may ask? Makes my riding/skill level feel so insignificant.
  • + 1
I can't beleeeeeive what's happening on bikes these days. I get stoked when I ride away clean from a six foot drop.
  • + 1
Sorry to say that, but for once, VitalMTB got a way better coverage of the first week... They got news twice a day !

I would love one of them shirts

Anybody know that time of the live broadcast on Sunday?
  • + 1
Go on redbull.com and go to the Rampage section under "bike". They will show the start time in your Local timezone. For me its 9pm, but that doesnt help you much!

Kind of disgusting how you can see all those amazing tricks and runs, but the no hander won first place...
  • + 4
It's not a best trick contest. The entire line Strait and Zink had was crazy, and Strait rode it smoother and faster overall, that's why he got first and Zink got third. Zink still won the best trick contest, but Strait handled the entire line way better than Zink. That being said, Aggy Lacondeguy and T-Mac should have scored higher for the line and riding in my opinion. *rant over*

 totally agree on that nick
