The Red Bull Rampage crew is on site and we've got photos of some of the wicked course features that will greet the competitors this morning. The riders who don't slip into shock will hoist their shovels, fine-tuning the course and carefully picking their lines over the next two days. The battle starts with Saturday's qualifying round; who will be the first to man up and fire out the biggest gaps?

But what this platforms are doing out there!?!? It won't be real freeride, now it will be neew-school slopestyle... I'm very dissapointed with that fact. Although it's good that Rampage is back, goin' to be hard competition!
  • 17 1
Redbull's entire philosophy is to do new things. That's why Rampage was discontinued, they needed to up the ante. Yes it won't be the same old rampage and that's exactly what Redbull wants, a badass new event. But yes I hear ya, I won't be all about the riders ability to pick and make their own line like before. Nonetheless it will still be badass, so just sit back and drool....
  • 16 2
yeah, I agree. I was expecting the same old rampage, with all natural terrain.
  • 10 0
Everybody was expecting that I think. I, too, was a bit surprised and disappointed up unitl I got to that gigantic ramp picture. Holy crap that's gonna be sick. Also, don't forget that the riders will probably still be allowed to choose their lines and go off the modules and that the landings are still natural. I think it adds a new twist after all!
  • 5 1
its not really gonna push the limits as much as the last rampage did though.
okay, so theres big ramps and drops, but its made by professionals for the riders and they will choose between the several lines built for them and not the ones they built themselves which, i think, was what rampage is about? the big sketchy drops and unrealistic lines have all but dissappeared from this event and im very disappointed
  • 4 3
yeah, rampage became one more sloop contest...
  • 7 1
I still don't understand the problem with having one or two man made obstacles. As long as they're huge and built into the mountain and the landings aren't perfectly groomed then who cares? This is most definitely not a slopestyle contest. This is Big Mountain shit. You guys don't get all pissy with north shore, so why care about two huge booters placed into the mix?

yeah maybe i'm being too traditional...haha....after I saw the video I realized it will be awesome....better than last years i think...

These gonna be some big stuff gettin' thrown down!
  • 9 0
 absolute crazynes!
  • 8 4
i think boyko is a major threat to all competitors, its going to be close i thnik but he can do his stuff off anyhting.
  • 20 1
fuck it better not turn out teh be another slopestyle comp
  • 7 1
and it always was a "slopestyle" the winner had to do tricks over the stuff so its the same terrain couple changes the winner is going to have to do tricks to win,i just think this is gong to be be the narliest red bull rampage theres been its basicly a natural terrain slopestyle your going to see huge tricks of stuff that used to be straight aired, its 100% big air gnarly big mountain NOT another slopestyle dont get all worked up.
  • 4 0
theres a g on Gnarly its silent though konad
  • 2 2
ur right konad, but i bet Cam McCaul will also heat up the competition as well as Ben Boyko
  • 5 1
im stoked for andrew talor and steve Romaniuk competing really like to see them throw down
  • 5 8
semenuks going to win it hands down.........
  • 3 1
 im sooooo stoked for rampage!
  • 6 0
it sure has changes since it first came out it looks more like a slopestyle event now i likeed it when the guys went out and founf there big hits and they where jugde on the line
  • 6 0
hopefully there are still some natural big hits that they didnt photograph... Cause to me it looks like theres only a few options in lines
  • 2 0
I wasn't expecting "man-made" features, but it seems like a nice twist, possibly creating a nice meld between Freeride, and Slopestyle?... Maybe we can call it... Freeslope? haha.
  • 5 0
 yah or maybe freestyle......hmmmmmmm
  • 1 0
 haha, come on Vanderham!
  • 3 1
The course looks really good BUT it takes out the fun of the rampage. If they are going to fill the course with dirt jumps and wooden stunts then they should just build it in a grassy field.
  • 3 2
this has just messed up the rampage. they shouldnt have build the wooden structures and the dirt jumps. it will turn out into a slopestyle competetion. the most known and best big mountain event are gettin messed up by the slopestyle strucktures!!!
  • 2 2
Rampage is about to push the limits of what can be made on a bike. By building this type of things, the riders will still be able to go big but it will also help the more tech riders. The most allround rider will win this event, simple as that. Awsome!

// Fischer
  • 1 0
but why should it always be about being the best "allround"? rampage has always been about going big so why should they change that? because its part of the trend..the cool thing to do?
  • 0 0
That's gonna be way off the hook!! Course looks great imo, but Like cruelty and the beast said, I wasn't expecting anything man made.

Does anyone know somewhere we can watch this? Like the live webcast they had for crankworx?
  • 0 0
HMMMMM THIS SUCKS. i am all for rampage but not gunna lie i am getting sick of all these slope style contest. i dont wanna see dirt jumps i dont wanna see man made launches i wanna see natural terain conquerd by the most daring rider. i mean the old point ur nose down the hill and let go of the brakes and hold on kinda deal
  • 0 0
This is gonna be insane, Rampage Gone Slopestyle! There is gonna be some crazy competition, therefore some crazy stunts and crazy gaps are gonna have to be thrown down to even get a chance on the podium! The crashes are going to be the craziest part tho.. Its gonna get ugly!
  • 0 0
And why is Lacondeguy not riding? I figured he would be all over this!
  • 1 1
i dont like the wood i love riding shore and all but this isnt like the old redbull rampage id rather see them make somthing from nothing then jumping off of wooden ramps and pre made dirt jumps id would much rather see them making there own lines with the land thats theere and nothing else but then again im glad to see it back and it still looks like its going to be sick
  • 1 1
yea man i agree, i dont know if i like this hole slope style spin on it, im really not a fan of hucking big drops but thats what rampage WAS all about
  • 4 1
 can't even immagine what Bourdon's gonna try.....4 example.....Big Grin
the jumps are absolutely huge....
  • 6 1
 This is freeride
  • 1 0
 couldnt be more to point.
  • 4 2
well, this is more slopstyle than freeride...
  • 0 0
It will be held live on freecaster. And i think you guys are over doing it when you say this is just another slopestyle comp. I highly doubt you will see any of the slopestylers doing this contest on a 4x4" travel bike or even a hardtail. They will be bringing out the bigger bikes for this one, so this is definitly not just another slopestyle contest.
  • 0 0
all these people saying it's slopestyle are f*cking retarded, slope style will never be this gnarly, and some of those gaps have to be made because how else are you going to get over a huge gully or something? think about it people......
  • 0 0
Everyone will love it as soon as the event starts and someone flip whips something that used to just be an x up drop at best. Redbull isn't stupid, they know what draws a crowd. The old redbull rampage was a stepping stone, it helped shape the sport into what it is now.....as will this new rampage event.

i think the structures are sick, they make huge cliffs even huger! and they enables riders to throw down gnarlier things off drops. This is the perfect test, Its giving sustained big Mtn riders a chance to compete again and slopesyle junkies a chance to ride a real big mtn comp. Where other riders are good at hucking, others are good at more technical tricks, i think this will be an awsome proving ground for some many. Even though there are structures, i dont think that takes away from the true freeride experience, the true huckers will make their own lines.

Gonna suck with all the storms moving in. Anyone who has been to virgin after it rains knows how bad the dirt gets when it rains. They might as well try riding in thick chunky peanut butter.
  • 5 1
 I can't Wait fot iT!!!
  • 2 0
Some one better get lots of pictures of Thomas Vanderham's bike if he shows up on an Evil proto.
  • 0 1
It still says that the riders can go out, pick ther lines and dig stuff in. and its not really 'just slopestyle', have you seen the size of the feckin stuff!!!! goin to be INSANE!
  • 0 0
yeah man wtf no Rachael Atherton, or Josh Bender!!!! oh well good to see Romaniuk out and about, but man what a sasuage fest!!!!
  • 0 0
i've ridden here several times, i think this will be a good way to really highlight some of the more technical areas of this course. its looks really intense already.
  • 4 2
gonna be the best mtb event yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  • 3 1
thats some sick man made features. its gunna be a sick rampage!
  • 1 0
Holy hell, that last picture is nuts, if i ever tried that thing i'd bring a parachute
  • 3 2
big mountain is ruined for live, can't beleave it that this is turned out to be the so much slopestyle contest.
  • 0 1
good point man, but the rampage was all about sending it off a cliff, this is just crankworx slopestyle in utah with bigger stuff, there aint meant to be any wooden kickers in a rampage!
  • 0 0
mike kinrade might be the darkhorse here ... i don't know if the slopestyle guys will stomp this big mountain style. can't wait to see it. btw, where's andreu in the list?
  • 0 0
I think he might be content with winning Crankworks this year.
  • 0 0
Thinks: If it were just like the old Rampage...I'd say people would be saying, 'It's just like the old Rampage.'

It's going to be mad, that's fore sure.
  • 1 0
hahaha lol you guys gave dylans neg props and it turns out semenuk "won it hands down". hahahahahahahahahaaaaaa
  • 0 1
I'm not sure I like all the man made stuff. It was way better when it was more big mountain, pick lines and hope for the best.
  • 1 0
People need to remember slopestyle started because of the rampage
