pair with Paris shot.

After 10 editions of historic competition, Red Bull Rampage has become the truest test of skill and mental toughness on a mountain bike. Touted as one of the most intense events in the world, featuring the world’s best athletes and set in one of the most demanding locations on the planet, the event has become the most coveted title in Freeride Mountain Biking.

The list of 21 world-class athletes competing in this year’s Red Bull Rampage has been set. The roster of riders slated to compete is comprised of both 12 pre-qualified and 9 invited “Wild-Card” athletes. There will also be 5 alternates who will be called upon to compete if a rider is unable to attend the event.

The pre-qualified riders earned their right to compete in 2016 by finishing in the top 12 in last year’s event. The remaining 9 riders who make up the “Wild-Card” athletes were chosen and invited based on the following criteria:

• Past Red Bull Rampage results
• Results from similar big bike events
• Proven skill on a mountain bike
• Current video segments

Brendawg s double gap required the precision of a DH racer to make. Good thing...

Past athletes and community leaders Cameron McCaul, Aaron Chase, Randy Spangler, Nico Vink, and Todd Barber comprised of the Rampage selection committee who selected the “Wild-Card” athletes.

The 11th Edition of Red Bull Rampage will take place at a new location near Virgin, UT on October 14th. The new venue and updated event format offer up a blank canvas for the elite group of 21 athletes to create their own personal line down the mountain in one of the biggest tests of skill and nerve in the world.

  • 1 4
The truth hurts way too easily.

Almost half the field from Canada, 10 riders in total, I'd say thats a pretty strong showing for Canada and it shows the world how much talent we have riding bikes. #longlivechainsaw
  • 49 2
Hats because you canadians have the most and most amazing trails on the world I guess.
  • 12 3
@nicolenotavailable: along with NZ SSSHHHHHHhhhhhhh don't tell anyone though Wink

  • 60 3
Hope they do some sort of fund raising for Paul B, is te least they could do.
  • 3 0
 Absolutely!!
  • 66 10
 Rogatkin?
  • 16 3
Ya, that's a tough one...I fully expected to see him on that list. With "only" 21 spots tho...there's bound to be drama about who is/isn't on it as there is a solid 35-40 names that we'd all love to see in this event...that wouldn't be practical of course Frown
  • 19 2
I could understand if they feel he does not have the big mountain skills it takes, as he doesn't do a lot of freeride-ish events. Maybe a conscious decisioin against his risky style, not wanting more bad press from serious injuries. Or maybe he told them in advance he doesn't want to do it, which I could understand, too, after his horrendous crash.
  • 17 4
They cant risk him hucking himself off a cliff again
  • 22 4
He for sure was gonna bring some next level tricks this year. Rampage's loss
  • 28 2
He got Rampage on TV more than they got themselves on TV after last year's event. Disrespectful not to invite him!
  • 3 0
@loopie: Yeah I'd rather see Rogue on 'ere than half the invites, but he had a rough show last go.
  • 59 5
 wheres Jaws..
  • 14 3
 and Benderoni
  • 1 0
 I CANNOT UPVOTE THIS ENOUGH
  • 32 3

  • 8 0
Jaws might be alternate level. Maybe. Not a chance he's a wildcard.
  • 51 1
 Tupin?
  • 3 1
Too right. Especially going off latest online segments and presence! The guy's a weapon.
  • 1 0
Seriously I'm not that ever that guy but he should be on the list
  • 44 1
 Vink??
  • 14 0
Vink is on the committee that decided who should be entered as a wild card and alternate.
  • 8 0
@tornateo: being on the committee doesn't give you a riding place though does it? And as fine as his selection skills may be I want to see what would happen if he could complete a run!
Bring In The VINK!
  • 4 1
+1 on Vink: if you make "performance at events like Rampage" one of the core selection criteria, it's hard to understand that they pass over the freakish riding & building skill behind LooseFest, which arguably boasts the biggest amplitude in the comp world right behind Rampage. He should have at least been on the list of alternates.
  • 3 0
 @Kustomango:
I have no way of knowing this other than gut feel, but I don't believe being on the committee gives you a riding place, other than some sick POV shots like Claudio, (Claudio and Vink course preview!!) But it is a shame his name isn't on the list, maybe he was asked to ride and declined? I can only guess.
  • 1 0
 @tornateo: VIIINNKK!!!!! No!!

 YEAH CONOR!
  • 1 0

  • 22 3

  • 14 6

  • 11 4
Vinny-T lost on the liste ? The guys will have to wake up take Red Bull maybe ...

R-Dog, Louis Reboul & Ethan Nell "ALTERNATES" hahahaha bullshit organizers.
  • 7 0

  • 5 5
I don't they are in the right spot. I want free tickets like it used to be.
  • 1 0
@airon: you're not into gals that shred?
  • 5 1
it's a bit disappointed to see a lot of slopestyler on the list and sooo many real freeride guys are not in :-/
  • 3 0
That would be nice to have another smaller event early in the year to give a chance to some of the young guns to qualify for the main event !
  • 7 2
 T-Mac!!!
  • 4 3
shocking his brother picked him as a wildcard...love the sport but its too much of a circle jerk....the European guys are not on the 'in crowd' so they dont get in. Jaws, Godzik, Vinny, etc...Logan Peat...c'mon man.
  • 2 0
 @MikeyMT: There's 7 Europeans in the line up...I wouldn't call that a small amount.
Regardless of whether Cam is on the judging panel or not, T-Mac deserves to be picked. He's exactly what the competition is. Huge natural features, no wood. It's a shame he knocked himself out last year because his line was fantastic.
Go have a look at his runs from the last 4 years. He's earned his place.
  • 5 0
 Hummm vink!!
  • 4 0
Stoked on Bizet , but bummed on Garret Buehler
  • 1 0
it would be nice if red bull didn't limit the tickets and had them for sale for a longer period of time...id rather not sit on my computer waisting my life away waiting to buy rampage tickets
  • 3 0
 No qualification this year?
  • 2 0
In an earlier post from Redbull they said that it is a one day thing. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 3-4 days of building, a couple practice days, a rest day and then one day of Finals.
  • 2 0
@tornateo: one day of finals.. work an a off to get tickets that are not easy to get then give the people one day! ill go a couple weeks before put in a good days work and get a builder pass done and done.
  • 2 1
@airon: ...then go back a few weeks later and send the canyon gap? Just need a bigger radius ramp, eh?
  • 1 0
@airon: Is it possible to get there before race and to do something like digger and help riders build their lines?
  • 1 0
@dyka: uh. a few years ago you could. not sure about now. but if you showed up 2-3 weeks prior usualy you can kick it with the hard core riders.
  • 3 0
Take Binggeli off the list and give his spot to Ethan Nell
  • 3 0
When are tickets going on sale?
  • 5 1
 Claudio, where are you?
  • 5 0
 Sidewaaays!
  • 4 1
We wanna Claudio Caluori course preview ! Smile
  • 1 0
So excited for Rampage this year. It's my favourite action sport because riders basically go all out, and design their own destiny in any fashion they desire.
