Reed Boggs has been announced as the latest athlete added to Yeti's roster. Boggs, 23, has competed in two Rampage events and won the inaugural Proving Grounds qualifier last year. He announced he was leaving his
sponsor of the past 3 years, Trek, in December and it's now confirmed he's inked with the Colorado brand for the new season.
Yeti launched its longest travel platform, the SB165, in July last year and it looks like that's what Boggs will be using for his long-travel ventures. The bike is normally specced with a 180mm single crown fork but these pictures show Boggs using it with a Bomber 58, which comes with 203mm of travel as standard. It isn't be the first converted enduro bike we've seen in the hills of Utah as Graham Agassiz turned up on an equally wild
Evil Wreckoning LB at Rampage this year.
Boggs, who lives in Hurricane, Utah, will be heading to the McGazza Fest in New Zealand, attending Crankworx events and some stops of the Fest series. His ultimate goal will be another spot on the starting list for Rampage though.
| Reed is a strong rider and will bring a dynamic riding style to the Yeti program. Personable and down to earth, we were impressed with his focus on progression and how much fun he has on the bike. His love for riding has inspired some incredible content. We’re looking forward to working with Reed to develop new products and support his creativity on the bike.—Kristi Jackson, Yeti’s director of marketing |
| I’m thrilled to be signing with Yeti Cycles. I had the chance to visit Yeti HQ last week to see what happens behind the scenes and was overwhelmed by everything. Once I rode the SB165, I knew it would be a great bike for me - just enough suspension for big drops and nimble enough to flick around corners and throw whips. I’m looking forward to getting Yeti into their first Red Bull Rampage. Thanks for the opportunity.—Reed Boggs |
Most freeride bikes on the shore were 6.5” - 8” RM Slayer / Rm 7 /9 , Kona Stinky, Cove STD, Intense Uzzi ,Norco VPS - im pretty sure no Enduro racer wants a 40 lb plus bike
Every time I asked them about any DJs around they told me that even their employees were buying bikes off Craigslist/Pinkbike when they showed up because they didn't have any more.. So either they were lieing to me, or they made him a new one or one of the employees gave up theirs for him.
I would think that if they made him a one off, they wouldn't have just painted it the same as the old one, so my guess is that this was in the back of the warehouse or it came from an employee.
happy kwanza
@poleczechy Yup it's the 2010 and onward frame with the tapered headtube and the adjustable dropouts.
@BEERandSPOKES and @man-wolf They don't need to reinvent anything. The Yeti DJ geo like the P.3's were WAY ahead of their time and pretty much dialed in years ago.
Weld up a few Aluminum frames, paint ‘em turq/yellow, but Boggs in the hill in Utah and let Ritchie hit the WC downhill scene.
Let’s do this, Yeti!
Don’t get me wrong, I think all mtb companies should have the full range. YETI, EVIL, MARIN, etc. I don’t think companies realize there is a huge difference between hitting rock garden gnar and massive dirt jumps.
I mean f*ck, Hyper bikes makes one off DH frames exclusive for their free riders. And they are a BMX focused company.
It’s wishful thinking if they bring out a SB200.
Reed: what’s that!?
Yeti: that’s the pallet of extra chainstays
Reed: oof...
True. Nate Hills has had a triple clamp on his SB165 for a little while too.
They are going from a brand that only does high end dentist bikes and seems pretentious to becoming a brand that looks like they’re down to drink a ton of beers after a day of riding and still makes bad ass bikes.

Maybe it is a freeride bike after all. Maybe freeride ain’t about the bike. Maybe clouds ARE made of unicorn farts.

Mine was 20.8lbs and size long.
I never weighed it to be honest. It felt really light until I put on a set of Fox 36’s.
Size is a large. I bought it early last year from someone on Pinkbike. It was well used, plenty of chips and scuff marks. I had it resprayed, replaces the badges and got it invisiframed.
I shall do the exact same with the Yeti Super X frame I got.
Glad to see someone is taking the time to restore these bikes! Good on you!
Thanks! These frames are so rare, I’ve been looking for years!
Previously I’ve seen two others for sale. One as a complete bike, the other as a frame only but it was sold within a day.
I'd wager this is a move by fox to continue supporting all their riders but unless they need all the bells and whistles they just have em on the marzo "budget" platforms. Help boost sales and what not
A lot of pros are waaaay less fussy than all us keyboard warriors.... Lol

Man, we are in 2020 and that’s so from the 2000s

re: axle to crown heights - i looked it up, the difference is 17mm. now, i'm no geometry expert, but i don't think that would raise the bb very much. i would be riding an XL which is going to make the effect even less. i'm willing to bet it would be no more than a half degree slacker and 6-7mm higher bb.
