PRESS RELEASE: BetterRide Camps

bigquotesAfter 30 years of Mountain Biking, this guy (Gene Hamilton), finally taught me how to ride.Bryson Martin, Owner, DVO Suspension

Are you ready to truly upgrade your riding? You’ve spent time and energy scouring these forums to learn and probably spent a lot of money on better tires, better suspension, lighter wheels, smoother hubs with more engagement, etc. Now it’s time to invest in you!

Our BetterRide campers include 85-year-old ripper, Fred Schmidt and many Top Enduro/Downhill racers and Cross Country racers including Cody Kelly, Shawn Neer, Sue Haywood, and Mitch Ropelato.
However, most students are simply passionate riders wanting to gain confidence and have more fun.

If you want to really step up your confidence on the trail and have more fun on every ride, join me for one of my Ride Changing camps. Sign up now at www.betterride.net. Spaces are limited.

Gene working with Greg Minnaar at Northstar, CA in 2012.

Gene has worked with Greg Minnaar 8 times as his guest coach over the last 15 years. He has learned a lot from Greg and would love to share that knowledge with you!

You will learn how to practice and eventually master the riding and mental skills that top riders depend on. Gene has spent the last 20 years coaching, learning and perfecting his proven curriculum to get you riding at your best.

bigquotesBest bike upgrade I ever made, I learned more in those 3 days at bootleg canyon than in 18 years of riding before. Thanks, Gene.Daniel Echeverria

You can become a much more skilled and confident rider! You may feel that certain trails are reserved for World-Class riders with more nerve or “natural talent” than you. This simply isn't true. What those World-Class riders have is more confidence in their skill set than you. You will learn the same skills Cody Kelly, Mitch Ropelato and Kalani Hines learned in their camps with me. You will also learn the drills you will use after the camp to master these skills.

This will be the most valuable investment you ever make in your riding. You will gain skills and confidence that last a lifetime.

ABOUT Gene Hamilton
Gene’s passion is coaching, and he wants to help you. Before starting BetterRide in 1999 he had ten years of experience coaching snowboarding, giving him over 30 years of coaching experience.
Over those years, Gene has mastered his coaching technique by keeping a beginner's mind and constantly improving both his coaching and his curriculum. His critical eye can quickly spot what you are doing right and wrong and he knows how to get you to master the correct techniques. Gene is a pretty good rider too, he has earned a silver (2002) and two bronze medals (1999, 2006) at the UCI World Masters Championships. In 2019 he became the US National Champion.

Bummed no California dates available. Stoked to see Gene living the dream.

I'm bummed too! So hard to fit California into my schedule these days. I loved doing camps at Northstar, San Diego, LA and the South Bay area as I have friends and family in those areas. Keep reminding me and I will be back in 2021 (possibly fall 2020),

Gene, I'd love to join you for a Moab or Park City camp. I decided I needed to invest in my riding after seeing the Northstar EWS racers. I noticed they ride differently than I do (obviously). Among other things, when descending they are in an athletic/aggressive body position. When I descend into something tricky I get very defensive, weight back and just hope I roll out of it. Can you help me break this habit?
  • 1 0
Hi Jerome, I can greatly help you break that habit. As a matter of fact I taught the correct habit to Cody Kelly, Mitch Ropelato, McKay Vezina and Shawn Neer in older versions of my enduro/downhill camp (I teach it in all my camps).

Once you why the skill is useful, how to do the skill, what it should feel like and the drills to master that skill the more you practice it the quicker it will become your dominant habit!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. admin at betterride dot net

You have three months before I return to Moab to take your KOM back Sasha! Then it's game on again. Smile

I took a 3-day clinic from Gene in Moab a few years ago. Highly recommended.

Need to make it to OR also... Would definitely use some sick days (cough cough)!!

I am coming to Oregon this summer! I will be coaching a three day camp in Hood River (or Mt. Hood if it is too hot in Hood River) on Aug. 7-9. I hope you are feeling sick around then as I would love to coach you.

Hmmmm, looking at possibly heading down to Durango for one of the camps, what's the big difference between the MTB and the DH/Enduro?
  • 1 0
The main difference is in the enduro camp I don't teach climbing skills (climbing body position, the pedal wheelie, uphill switchbacks) and add a few more descending skills (Pumping, pumping corners, and the bump jump). Please email me if you have any question admin at betterride dot net .

@BetterRide: Thanks Gene, I'll be in touch for sure.
