As the bike park closes and the leaves start to fall we're stoked to remember an epic summer in and around Whistler. Matt Staggs teamed up with local riders Jaime Hill and Sterling Christensen to put together this edit; and Aussie Jake Newell who makes his annual pilgrimage to Whistler.
Enjoy and get psyched for next season! #noordinarylife
This summer was my first time visiting Whistler. I went during the last week of crankworx and the place is just paradise. There is something for everyone. At first I was hanging around on the basic bike park jump trails(a-line, dirt merchant, etc) because I wasn't really comfortable with the super gnarly garbo zone stuff, but by my third day there I was only doing garbo laps. It was my first time being exposed to big mountain terrain like that and I was hooked, I think turned more laps on original sin than any other trail there. When you make a trip to Whistler: BUY THE TOP OF THE WORLD TICKET IT IS WORTH IT, RIDE DON'T SLIDE IS GODS GIFT TO MOUNTAIN BIKERS.
Ride Don't Slide is legit.
TOW to Ride is such an amazing experience. Coming from New England you just don't get trails that long and gnarly.
And Garbanzo was our rip for 5 days straight. Until you've spent 45 minutes riding the Garbanzo line you can't comprehend how insane it is for the pros to rip it in under 15 minutes.
My first time was a few weeks before whistler, and right before the wild fires. Whistler and BC made a huge impact on me, it was truly epic and I'm so blessed to have experienced Whistler. Hope to return 2018!
It was my first year up there also. We lucked out with perfect weather right before the BC wildfires started and I just got back from my 3rd day up there last week. We made a day-trip leaving Seattle at 5 am, got to the village at 9:30 and hit the park at opening. we got home at midnight and I was blasted tired, but it was worth every minute. Whistler has captured a place in my heart and i cant wait to rekindle my love for it again next summer. so stoked to be part of an awesome community and experience some of the best trails around. Bravo to the edit, it definitely hit some nostalgic notes for me. Cheers to Autumn trail riding!
I had the chance to ride in Whistler (2 days in the bike park + Lord of Squirrels) -- Thanks Max ! -- and all what you hear about it is true -- and even more! Everybody lives and breathes mountain biking, vibe is very laid back, people are super nice and shops are full of the best gear and apparel... This is the true Mecca of MTB and you quickly feel like a fish in water! All in all, Whistler was beyond my expectations and as mtbforlife4 said, there's something for everyone. I, for one, am not a DHer, but had great fun and learned a lot on the blue and some black trails, but we crossed path with Danny Hart riding there. So, whatever your level, you can enjoy the place and nobody's gonna make fun of you. And yes, I did Top of the World, and it is REALLY worth it -- as Lord of Squirrels, if you're ready to spend 3 hours climbing...
First time visiting a couple weeks ago, and first run down I overshot a jump and lawndarted. The rest of my riding was in a hospital bed. Always next year!
First time in Whistler this year, I luckily managed to ride having broken my wrist 5 weeks before going.. Just about nursed it through. Got twins on the way now.. So no whistler for a whiiiiile
