Revolution Enduro's first round brought us to Buffalo Creek, Colorado. With over 27 miles and 5 stages, on one day, this sold out race was one of the most physically challenging on RE's four round calendar. Buffalo Creek is a well known zone for Denver residents and this would mark the first enduro race ever for the area. The terrain includes dense pine forest, impressive towers of granite rock, burn areas, and is surrounded by snowy peaks of the Rocky Mountains and the Pike National Forest.

Conditions couldn't have been better come race weekend. Rain on and off Friday through race day made the trails near perfect for racing. This was a stark contrast from the usual dry and loose conditions that had racers calling this event "Buffalo Drift" or as Nate Hills said "kitty litter surfing". Racers were surprised and singing a different tune on race day. Stoke was high for the 200 racers that descended on Buffalo Creek.

Nate Hills looking smooth all day but especially through this turn on stage 1 that tripped many racers up.

Race day brought all the weather. Starting off foggy/misty in the morning, breaking to sunshine early afternoon, turning to rain and thunderstorms later that afternoon.

Chris Heath hucking off the A line in style on Stage 3. Taking the A line over the B line was at least a ten second advantage.

Buff Creek is flat AF so I understand why Nate chose the SB100, but its weird seeing a 100mm travel bike winning an Enduro race.

Nate Hill could win a race on any bike.

I believe he raced the same bike in Moab a couple weeks ago, and Moab is def not flat AF.

Off all the 100mm travel bikes to win an "enduro" the SB100 would be it.

I was looking forward to racing my hardtail, since I don't have a short travel fs bike, but alas I missed the race due to injury. @gfowkes I don't think the course at Klondike is any steeper than Buff Creek, although it is rockier. Both courses would not be out-of-place in an XC race. Bummed I missed out, I'm sure it was fun with all the hero dirt.

My dude Andrew got 3rd on a hardtail

@christianlund: Awesome! I don't think I'd hit the drop on Sandy Wash on a hardtail, but I'm assuming your buddy did if he finished in 3rd. I was looking forward to racing a hardtail, but I'm not sure what other course around here I could be competitive on with no squish.

 $200 for first?
  • 1 0
@monsterville Are you complaining about a $200 dollar pay out?
  • 1 0
 That's why it's hard to be a full-time racer.
  • 2 0
RE would love to pay out more! Trust me! Have to start somewhere though.
