Results: Anton Cooper & Sammie Maxwell Win the New Zealand National XC Championships 2022
The results are in from the New Zealand XC National Championships, with Anton Cooper and Sammie Maxwell taking the Elite titles for 2022. Sammie Maxwell secured the Elite Women's title after finishing almost four minutes ahead of second-placed Mary Gray after five laps. Anton Cooper defended his national title with another victory in 2022.

I wonder why Sam Gaze didn’t race? Maybe doing the road thing more this year? He ended last year with some strong xco results, was looking forward to seeing him in the mix at world cups.

He's over in Europe racing on the road. In fact he's racing Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne right now.

From what I understand it was due to travel/quarantine restrictions. He was entered to race both NZ National Road and MTB Championships, as well as another major Road event (all through February). But decision was made that it was better for the european season to stay where he was.

He announced on his Instagram that he'll be that Brazil World Cup. Not sure if that means he'll do the whole series, but he definitely has MTB goals this year.
