"Well, we always say she rides with his sister, so that certainly helps.”

Is he also riding the DH proto?

@bok-CZ: This I want to see

@bok-CZ: I belive Tracey said he was riding the 160 with a Fox 40 on the front

@bigbadcrad: ha, i'd expected sb165 if not the proto, thanks

@bigbadcrad: Those are the new Downduro bikes - All the cool kids will soon get them.

@bok-CZ: Tracey was incorrect. Mick was riding his SB165 with a Fox 40 Mullet set up.

I love that we have these guys who raced in the 90s like Sean and Rob still hanging around the scene. And only 20 seconds off the pace isn't shabby either, though it's mindblowing that the bloke who won also started racing in the 90s!

Remind me, Why did Mick retire again.

I think the pace at world cups is totally different. I’m not saying that he doesn’t have the fitness needed for a world cup but maybe he doesn’t want to put all his energy in training. Anyway he is one of the greatest athletes of this sport.

@vbsorin: Yeah he's 39, racing WC comes with big risks and a lot of time and effort. All good things come to an end.
  • 6 1
@vbsorin: He also knows that track like the back of his hand. Not to take anything away from his win, but he knows that track REALLY well
  • 3 1
@stretchza: He leveled the playing field by riding blindfolded and he still won.

Because he'd been racing pro since like 1999! He only had one world cup DH win in his career, but, some never even get one.

Gotta get this off my chest. Why did Rob and Elliott kept saying that downhill bikes are better in corners than enduro bikes? I personally think tire tread differences is the major factor behind being able to be efficient in corners (besides the rider skill etcs etc). The two other things I can think that can play some role in cornering is the weight of downhill bikes and burlier suspension. For the suspension part, that only plays any significant role if the corners comes with a huge compression and bigger suspension can avoid bottom out. The cairns downhill track is not the one that would do that. For the weight category, enduro bikes are also getting as heavy s DH bikes and if weight was such a factor cornering then why would companies go in the direction of making carbon bikes. I don't think the weight difference between the two bike types plays that significant of a role. And, for slack and long wheel base proponents, enduro bikes are also as slack a d long as DH bikes.
I am trying to figure out where is their logic coming from if the se factors I discused is not what they have in mind. I would like to think they know downhill far better than i do but I am not getting their logic. Any nerds here who an solve this?

My 2cents is the DH bikes with more travel can afford to run more sag and hence squat and track better "in corners"....???
  • 2 0
@AntN: Hmmm....I see your point. That could be one of the factors. Wonder how much sag pro's run on their DH bikes.

I don't think you really understand what suspension is doing. Vorsprung's Tuesday Tune videos on Youtube are great.
