Hate to complain about and extra race to watch but it really makes you appreciate how good the coverage of Leogang was this year. 30 seconds of the track filmed, massive gaps between riders, and idk but I reckon Rob and Claudio actually make a better team.

There seemed to be a lot of confusion by the commentators about where/how some of the riders were losing speed. Another camera or two might have made a big difference.
  • 8 4
agree. I actually turned it off because the coverage was so bad.
  • 4 4
no footy of Hannah that I could see they just rambled into Nina's run... odd And as usual I am bitching about the bumper car motor sound overtaking the rider

Mtb is one of those sports that is still very early in its developmental coverage on media, people are still figuring out the best way to cover it, stream it, the best format etc. so I kinda expect this stuff to happen every now and then.

@c0linmetz: this kind of stuff has been happening for 16 years

Yeah the growth is pretty slow lmao @browner:

@shralping-the-cube: Me too! I watched for about 20 mins saw 3 riders and turned off.

Dang, people turning off a free DH race with the top doggies running. I'm guessing these people would have never bothered to watch DH racing in the freecaster days. It sounds like they're bigger fans of production than DH.

Needles is good! Very knowledgeable and enjoyed his input.

I enjoyed the footage. Made me appreciate how great the jumps section footage was at Leogang and this covered some less bike park racing. It didn't have the budget of Redbull and the UCI for cameras. But that is to be expected.

@scott-townes: i wanna see the whole runs and not just the top doggies tho...

Drone shots at Leogang were great. Not as smooth as a cable run shot, but they can cover more of the course.

I actually think Needles does a stellar job and would love to see him do some WC commentary. I think it was an impossible task to try to describe what was happening based on being able to see like 5% of the course.

Nice to see so many women racing, our sport needs this.
  • 31 0
Also massive congrats to Vanesa PETROVSKA winning the U17 female category, with the time that would have been 5th in the ELITE!!
  • 33 2
Needles saying Dean Lucas going deep pumping every backside he can find .. Pmsl
  • 16 2
That was interesting as I guess with the limited coverage time per rider they had to do a lot of time compression which led to odd issues like when Tracey crashed. But that is a good commentary team. It was great to see Finn on the podium, and not only did Jackson Goldstone win U19 but Teegan Cruz won U17 so go Canada!

Shite coverage made it more authentic I guess; felt like I was standing in the same spot trackside and only seeing 150m of each race run.
  • 14 3
I like how the spectators are free to be normal.

Nice to see Cathro back on a race bike! Especially after his crash.

I need a face to face interview after his run. Want to hear that "pedaled my arse off" voice.... Wink
  • 9 0
 Sick mik top 10 son!
  • 5 0
I was about to say in the speed hip article that Jackson Goldstone makes up for his lack of high end speed with style for days but apparently he has speed too.
  • 3 0
So Jackson Goldstone would have been around the 25-30th position if he was racing with the seniors ............ junior racers are coming and I am not sure the cycling world is ready for just how awesome they are going to be! Vali though is the tip of the young talent that has come to the front.

 Under 19 women 1st. Phoebe Gale: 3:15.456
Would have been top 10 in elite
  • 11 0
U17 women 1st would have been 5th in elite
  • 7 0
 Jackson for the win
  • 4 0
And he would’ve finished high 20’s in Elite Men as well. Great start in back to back races
  • 7 1
@lastminutetech: feel like Trek dropped the ball not putting him on a team

 Solid result!

What is up, with not showing SPLITS? Like they have a 1:30ish split but viewers see nothing at all until late into 2min or not at all until finish line?. Half the fun is bitting my nails while someone is green, and knowing they are on the edge of a win.
  • 5 0
 No Commencal riders?

 Theo Erlangsen was out there.

Anyone know what kind of timing equipment is used, same as world cups?
  • 2 0
I heard its just 2 5th graders - one at the start and one at the finish - with a long string and cups tied at each end. Kid up top tells kid at the finish when the racer starts, and kid at the finish starts counting, "one alligator, two alligator, ...."
