Wtf is the point of an e-XC race anyways? Get this garbage off of this mountain biking website.

The inspiration for e bike racing comes from the primary motivation to ride e bikes in the first place: They are faster and more fun. Not everybody appreciates it but some people are into it and enjoy it. Look at the speed they are carrying in the flat sections:

@DoubleCrownAddict: Faster and more fun? Faster yes, but more fun.? I've ridden ebikes. They are not more fun, in my opinion. Be careful of sweeping generalizations.

@DoubleCrownAddict: depends on what you call fun. Motors are not fun for me.

Show me on the doll where this article hurt you....

 @DoubleCrownAddict:

They are faster uphill.
If you wanna ride ‘em fast on fairly flat courses like here in The Netherlands you have to tune the hell out of ‘em....

At least the majority of Ebike riders seem to be out enjoying the sport and not crying on the internet about something that has zero impact on their lives.......Shut up and go ride your bikes, regardless off propulsion system.

@Stent76: if I had more crayons I'd explain it to you.

I was going to follow this series but I switched over to the world paint drying championships.

Unless these races include a series of climbs that would be virtually impossible on a regular bike (without mad skills) and a no carry / push rule then what is the point. - better still if the number and nature of the climbs mean that the last one will be on a battery that's virtually empty...

On an e bike you are riding at higher speeds most of the time so nearly everything becomes more dependent upon technical skills. This is why some non E bike pros train on e bikes at times, getting used to the higher speeds makes them better riders.

@DoubleCrownAddict: I think you are the equivalent of what snowflake liberals call right wing posters: Russian bot.

@DoubleCrownAddict: Bro I think you gotta change your username to E Bike Addict.. because that's all you comment about.. Also shoving e-bikes down unwilling peoples throats is not going to help your case....

@goldencycle: I do have a regular bike that I rarely ride anymore so I'm not an e bike addict. I'm also not forcing it down anybody's throats, just pointing out the advantages.

These comments are Hilarious. Can we get a trans person in the women’s field stat to add fuel to the fire?!

A total of 23 people representing a total of 9 countries in a WORLD cup race. Seems a little premature.

I opened this to see the comments. As a 30+ yr mbiker I will never be interested in these electric powered 2 wheeled vehicles competing in anything other then battery longevity for commuting and basic transportation uses. I have weaned myself from motor powered racing long ago. I do see me riding one someday somewhere but as single track junkie I will push up a hill I can’t climb until I can’t walk the bike up. I like that hard trails (distance, vertical and technically difficult) do not have much traffic on them because they are difficult to ride. That is what has been the real attraction/addiction, the climb and the decent. I will no longer ride if it gets to the point of being busy with abled bodies riding motorized vehicles on the trails meant for bicycles. Corps will always be pushing product $$ sales as corps always do as there priority is growth and profit more then cycling itself.

What’s the format of this racing? Please tell me it’s not just an XC race? Yawn.

Filter or not, people are gonna hate. Electric bikes are not MTB's, they just arent. And really, who gives a fxxk about how fast you can climb a bit of trail??? Going down is always whats its been about.

Any one of those dudes would kick your ass on a 10 year old 26" xc bike.

The only name I recognize there is Melanie Pugin. She's been very competitive in WC DH racing and I doubt she is out of shape now.
