Look at stage 1 & 3. Richie flatted. Not that Sam isn’t talented but all of these guys are. 19 seconds without context. (I know the SH fanboys will downvote me into oblivion.)

@kdiff: yes, I am one of said Sam Hill fanboys but I won't down-vote you. That said, you can't keep taking it away from Sam when he wins "because Richie got a flat" or because "Graves snapped his frame in half". Consider that maybe Richie was pushing too hard and smashed that tire into one too many sharp edges rocks causing the flat. Sam is fast, smooth, smart and right now, the fastest enduro rider on the planet.

@kdiff: upvote for you from a Sam Hill fan. Richie might have taken it but Sam ran a smart race. Seems he's playing the "long game", a remark he made last year.
  • 10 1
@kdiff: Sam was what, 2 seconds back on Rude on those two stages? No disrespect to Rude, but Sam was right with him and knows how to ride a controlled but fast race.
  • 5 3
@kdiff: I am with you. Richie is back. Sit back and enjoy the show!
  • 1 0
@gooutsidetoday: Sam Hill 1st or 2nd on every single stage.

God damn that man is effortlessly fast. He's the king.
  • 2 1
@humoroususername: he's a legend for a reason! But don't dismiss rude. Sam Hill rides consistently good every time. But when Richie is on his game, he is unbeatable
  • 4 0
2nd day - Richie 5th, 10th and 2nd vs Sam 2nd, 1st and 1st. I think it's clear Sam beat Richie even if the flat tire didn't happen.

shawn neer in 6th place, dang.
  • 2 0
I can on to say the same thing. First year full blast EWS after watching him race and ride BME last year the game has stepped up. Or the top guy on the BME are on par with the best in the world. Take your pick either way
  • 11 1
One of the most underrated American riders right now.
  • 3 1
yep, had chance to ride with him and dude is a magician in loose corners. Fukkin pumped for ol’ Beer!
  • 2 2
So hyped for neer right now, him and ropelato are the most stylish racers out
  • 2 4
@Onetrakcmind: Oh come on, Ratboy is without equal. And I say that as a huge Ropelato fan.
  • 22 2
Damn Rude was on pace! Go Sam!
  • 9 0
Rude was just 1/2 second faster than Hill on stage 1, and 1 second faster on the final stage. Crazy close!
  • 9 1
@Vulhelm: Hill rides so clean and smart that the guy rarely flats/mechanicals. Add in his freakish ability to pick lines that not only look/feel fast, but are fast and you basically have the perfect Enduro rider.

F**k racing against that guy.
  • 14 0
@jclnv: raced against Hill in a West Aus gravity enduro a year ago. He put 52 seconds into my time over a 3min 30 stage...
Definitely f*ck racing against that guy.
  • 8 0
@samjobson: Makes no sense does it?

Remember when he used to take all those inventive lines in a 3min DH? Now the guy has a half an hours worth of those lines to take!
  • 4 3
Rude wins 2 of 3 stages and ends the day in 126th place. I’m not a Brit, but I think this defines “gutted”. @Vulhelm:
  • 15 2
Richie Rude looking good. 1st on 2 out of 3 stages. Must have had a mechanical on the long one. Too bad he will not be able to recover from that :/
  • 9 1
 Richie got a front flat
  • 13 1
@richardsouthernextreme: so much for Crush Core
  • 3 2
Sam "King of Hills" looking to start off with a bang, much respect!
  • 6 2
@Otago: cushcore is a lil overrated - I think RR only runs it in the rear.

When you rip DH casings on the front yer pinned!
  • 4 2
@Grosey: Rude only running EXOs by the looks from the pics in the bike checks earlier in the week. That'd be the downfall, rather than the Cushcore. Sounds crazy for him to run just EXOs in race runs tho, but its what was pictured earlier. Rude also had a separate Crash as well.
  • 3 0
@Otago: He flatted early in the stage but kept rolling on it for quite a while, I was taking photos at a rock garden and noticed it. By then Sam had already passed him.
  • 1 1
@Otago: I believe he only runs Cush core in the back
  • 1 0
@aushred: nah, dh casings with cushcore. Just goes to show how fast he is hitting shit!
  • 1 0
@Otago: I take that back I was incorrect
  • 1 0
@Teej687t: did he change for racing from practice? I know that was his combo last year
  • 2 1

Dh casing and cushcore f/r ...
  • 2 1
@Lagr1980: looks like exo to me on picture rear and front
  • 2 1
@ybsurf: it says dh casing in small print. no chance they would run anything less there
  • 1 0
@Obeh: yeah see it no DD casing
  • 13 1
Ok 19 seconds, cool, but Ravanel has almost a MINUTE on Isabeau, that is enormous. Even Bex Baraona, in 4th, is nearly 2.5 minutes behind, what a spread.

Flat pedals and inside lines,Damn Sam! 19 seconds on the first day is a good margin!!
  • 8 1
Good job canyon enduro team, your fifth on the individual results. Team effort is the still not going to beat CR.

 Ines Thoma*

Ravanel's new bike and kit looks so good. Really stylish, which is something you don't normally see in mountain biking if we're honest. Kind of like a 70s GT car inspired cut and colour. Very nice!

Holy crap the season is on! Gonna be a sick battle at the top!
  • 4 2
So is Sam Hill using only tubeless tires in the so call stupid ust rims and in MAVIC wheels,or something else ,and in flat pedals really?there must be something going on ,talent?skill?wise?or maybe just luck :-))),go Sam just brake them down
  • 3 0
They guy is just freakishly smooth. When have you seen him smash through a section? His riding style is the opposite of Rudes.
  • 2 1
@jclnv: friend of mine raced against Sam at an event in Indonesia when he was still with specialized. He said Sam rode so smoothly he almost looked slow. He was going for the win too because he got beaten the previous year by the national champ. And in a section where they were all avoiding a bunch of slick roots Sam just went straight for it and let the back end slide around.

Rude gonna be in mix this year again! Can anyone make a wheel/tire that can handle his bashing?
  • 2 1
 That'll be his downfall.
  • 2 0
The biggest improvement MTB needs. Tires that dont puncture.
  • 3 1
 SAM MOFO'N HILL!!!
  • 3 2
There's a whole team racing against the women and still can't beat them?
  • 1 1
@stikmanglaspell: They must have fixed the typo. It had the Canyon Factory Racing Team in 5th for the women's category.
  • 1 0
