After one day of racing at the Enduro World Series in Lo Barnechea it's last year's champions Sam Hill and Cecile Ravanel taking strong leads into tomorrow.
Men's Overall Day 1
1st. Sam HILL (28:46.91) 2nd. Adrien DAILLY (+0:19.20) 3rd. Martin MAES (+0:24.82) 4th. Robin WALLNER (+0:37.47) 5th. Jesse MELAMED (+0:39.32)
Look at stage 1 & 3. Richie flatted. Not that Sam isn’t talented but all of these guys are. 19 seconds without context. (I know the SH fanboys will downvote me into oblivion.)
@kdiff: yes, I am one of said Sam Hill fanboys but I won't down-vote you. That said, you can't keep taking it away from Sam when he wins "because Richie got a flat" or because "Graves snapped his frame in half". Consider that maybe Richie was pushing too hard and smashed that tire into one too many sharp edges rocks causing the flat. Sam is fast, smooth, smart and right now, the fastest enduro rider on the planet.
@kdiff: upvote for you from a Sam Hill fan. Richie might have taken it but Sam ran a smart race. Seems he's playing the "long game", a remark he made last year.
@kdiff: Sam was what, 2 seconds back on Rude on those two stages? No disrespect to Rude, but Sam was right with him and knows how to ride a controlled but fast race.
@humoroususername: he's a legend for a reason! But don't dismiss rude. Sam Hill rides consistently good every time. But when Richie is on his game, he is unbeatable
I can on to say the same thing. First year full blast EWS after watching him race and ride BME last year the game has stepped up. Or the top guy on the BME are on par with the best in the world. Take your pick either way
@Vulhelm: Hill rides so clean and smart that the guy rarely flats/mechanicals. Add in his freakish ability to pick lines that not only look/feel fast, but are fast and you basically have the perfect Enduro rider.
@jclnv: raced against Hill in a West Aus gravity enduro a year ago. He put 52 seconds into my time over a 3min 30 stage... Definitely f*ck racing against that guy.
@Grosey: Rude only running EXOs by the looks from the pics in the bike checks earlier in the week. That'd be the downfall, rather than the Cushcore. Sounds crazy for him to run just EXOs in race runs tho, but its what was pictured earlier. Rude also had a separate Crash as well.
@Otago: He flatted early in the stage but kept rolling on it for quite a while, I was taking photos at a rock garden and noticed it. By then Sam had already passed him.
Ok 19 seconds, cool, but Ravanel has almost a MINUTE on Isabeau, that is enormous. Even Bex Baraona, in 4th, is nearly 2.5 minutes behind, what a spread.
It may be my web browser or settings, but I can't see any ladies results in that scroll down window, can you. After the mens, I get a couple of empty pages. Can you see the results?
Ravanel's new bike and kit looks so good. Really stylish, which is something you don't normally see in mountain biking if we're honest.
Kind of like a 70s GT car inspired cut and colour. Very nice!
So is Sam Hill using only tubeless tires in the so call stupid ust rims and in MAVIC wheels,or something else ,and in flat pedals really?there must be something going on ,talent?skill?wise?or maybe just luck :-))),go Sam just brake them down
@jclnv: friend of mine raced against Sam at an event in Indonesia when he was still with specialized. He said Sam rode so smoothly he almost looked slow. He was going for the win too because he got beaten the previous year by the national champ. And in a section where they were all avoiding a bunch of slick roots Sam just went straight for it and let the back end slide around.
God damn that man is effortlessly fast. He's the king.
F**k racing against that guy.
Definitely f*ck racing against that guy.
Remember when he used to take all those inventive lines in a 3min DH? Now the guy has a half an hours worth of those lines to take!
When you rip DH casings on the front yer pinned!
Dh casing and cushcore f/r ...
