Strobel is holding it down in 16th on flat pedals!
  • 1 0
Impressive on flats! Is he the only flat pedal rider out there?
  • 8 11
Don't get these comments. Just how much time do you think clipless pedals are supposed to be worth on the downhills? If he thought he'd be faster on clipless, he'd use 'em.
  • 11 1
@AllMountin: apparently a lot because they are near unanimous among pro racers across every discipline
  • 5 4
@Jimmy0: They're looking for that last fraction of a second, which could be the difference in placement at that level. Having spent years on both, I can tell you that the difference in time between pedal types would be immeasurable for a normal rider. It's not the handicap you portray it to be.
  • 6 2
There's more difference between flats and clipless than just pedalling. According to GMBN, for casual cranking, flats are more effective by a hair. It's about being connected to the bike.
  • 2 0
@panaphonic: panaphonic: I think it's more about your feet staying exactly where you want them. The risk of slipping a pedal at high speed through technical terrain can lose time at best, a nasty crash at worst. Plus flat pedals are wider and more likely to catch something on a tight or technical trail.
  • 1 0
For me it is about being centered over the bike, without worrying about losing a pedal. At least on something with less than 6" of travel. On flats I find myself hanging on the back a bit. Then remember that Hill (and Brendog in his Specialized days) used pedals with very long pins

Rude sure seems to be the real deal! Proving his versatility and consistency like a true champ. I do kinda wonder what he'd be doing on the world cup scene...

Not giving the others a chance...that's just rude.
  • 4 0
Blenki had a 2nd in the first stage then a 42nd(!) in the second? He must have crashed or had a mechanical.

Had that not happened I'm convinced he'd be a bit higher.
