Photos and Results: Crankworx Whistler - Fat Tire Crit

Aug 8, 2015
by Pinkbike Staff

Crankworx started today with the Fat Tire Crit, held in the village next to the iconic Olympic rings. Racing was pretty straightforward: 20 minutes on the rivet, plus 3 laps for the women; 25 minutes on the rivet plus five laps for the men. Cash Primes were offered throughout the crit as incentive to go hard, plus the chase moto could cut slower racers out of the mix at any moment, so it was in the racer's benefit to stay as close to the front as possible.

Andreane Lanthier Nadeau--aka Alm--getting the hole shot not too shabby after training 7 hours today for the EWS.
ALN leads out the ladies early on.

Berkenpas with a flyer off the front that eventually turned into a solo affair.
  Jean Ann pulled away...

Berkenpas savorig the win.
and never looked back. Taking the Fat Tire Crit for the second year in a row.

Hmmm theres a dude in a red bull lid behind us.. should we worry Nope--eyes front and ignore that guy.
T-shirt, cut off jeans, borrowed bike, but wait, a Redbull Helmet. Did we have a ringer in the mix?

Fat Tire Crit racing in full effect wall to wall racing from the bunch.
It was a strong field in the mens with a dozen riders holding position for the lead group.

Gone... Getting pulled sucks usually but when you ar this deep in the hurt locker it s nothing but sweet relief.
If you weren't strong enough, Elladee was ready to pull you from the Crit.

Canning with yet another monster pull.
The final five gave it their all.

Canning taking yet another pull on the front.
It was tight right into the last lap.

Moberg with the win. Maybe Canning went too deep on his pulls
