Talk about some lackluster coverage for the Canadian DH series this year...
  • 18 0
 Yep, terrible.
  • 17 0
What about all the racers that are Outside of the Pro categories?
  • 30 0
Couldnt be more disappointed - ZERO coverage from the event all weekend. PB you can do better than this - BRUUUUUUTAL!

This was a jam-packed week. 3 races within like 7 days. If they weren't riding/filming, they were driving. How about we all have a little bit of patience and wait for all the videos to be edited and published.

@leon-forfar: Sure, post event coverage is great. It wouldn't be much to offer a link to the training timing and the results of the qualification. PB is my go to for all things mountain bike related (as I am sure is the case for anyone reading this) and the lack of coverage is a disservice to all those involved in putting off a great event and for the riders who work their asses off to compete.

@szayer: Not to mention the series itself had a great video summary of the Fernie race with Tippie hosting. They released the video a week ago, and not a single re-share from PB.

@mammal: maybe Outside is worried if they cover busy Canadian events they can't drive the narrative of "top 10 mountain bike towns you never heard of" article.
  • 5 0
Hopeful it wasn’t due to outside influence
  • 1 0
 @bgoldstone: thanks !
  • 1 0
10000%. Disappointing. Congrats to those who raced and those who made it happen.
  • 4 0
@szayer: PB only cares about americans and the USD
  • 1 0
 @leon-forfar: well said!
  • 2 1
@mikedegen: there is no new Americans racing, the support is so poor. Canadians can travel the world, but not yankee’s. And Pinkbike is a Canadian thing!
  • 1 0
@truehipster: Yeah PB is Canadian but they are leaning over to the American side more and more every year.
  • 40 1
Pinkbike must be too busy making 'How to' videos to cover any racing in Canada. Disappointing.
  • 22 1
Too focused on XC at the olympics. Sad... Same goes for US champs. Hardly any coverage at all.
  • 7 0
@dmock157: ya, I was really bummed that nothing was covered at the US nats
  • 4 1
Outside is looking for ROI...the DH community is small from a relative perspective. It will only get worse.
  • 2 0
And it gets posted by one of their UK guys lol
  • 2 0
 @nvranka: DH racing sells trailbikes.
  • 2 0
 @atrokz: true, good point
  • 37 0
Pinkbike #fail. Epic race and yet zero Pinkbike coverage.
  • 19 0
It had an unbelievable turnout this year. Incredible ridership in a "dying" discipline. Amazing organization and effort from Dunbar and volunteers. They deserved far more coverage.
  • 2 3
@j-t-g: I'm sure the videos and everything are coming. 3 races in 7 days with longish drives between each event; I don't blame them for not having the official videos edited and uploaded yet. PLENTY of social media stuff was going on during the events.
  • 9 0
@leon-forfar: long drive? Fernie to Pano is 3 hrs, Pano to Golden 2 hrs. Didn't even see a pink bike banner at Pano.
Was no promotion before the races either. Pink Bike failure! Now they are a large corporation, say good bye to local race coverage.
  • 1 0
@d-man: yeah I gotta agree on that one.
  • 7 0
@leon-forfar: Vital has a great edited slide show and interviews up already. An So-cal MTB website has better Canadian DH coverage than the biggest Canadian MTB website. Brutal.
  • 3 0
@leon-forfar: 100% agree that the race organizers (HELL YA DUNBAR AND EXLEY) had zero time on their hands to also manage media presence, because they were doing ALL the race stuff - but surely 1 pb staffer could have scrolled FB and come up with a post for each race. Total PB failure, not a dunbar/race series failure.
  • 5 0
@leon-forfar: to be clear I make no complaint against anyone at Dunbar, any race organizer, or volunteer for the event. I am strictly referring to the fact that it appears that Pinkbike did not cover an IMO important downhill race with over 300 participants in their own province.
  • 2 0
@j-t-g @TheBrosCloset @acolette Yeah I totally misread/ misunderstood the complaints. PB definitely could have been there providing more "live" coverage. It better be one hell of a recap video lol.

Crazy the pace Jackson has been keeping. Battling with the elites as a first year junior. I had always figured he was going the freeride route but he is killer between the tape too.
  • 23 1
I hope Jackson Goldstone doesn't get valihölled so he is all under the same pressure when turning Elite too...let them be teeneagers.
it is so sad hearing Vali saying she didn't have the same fun on the bike anymore.
  • 2 0
 @Fufi7: absolutely.
  • 5 0
@Fufi7: Pro DH is no joke - it's a job and they know what they're getting into. She will be fine.
  • 1 0
 Its outstanding
  • 21 0
Vital has a full slide show on the Canadian national! Pinkbike get your act together. You guys are dropping the ball in regards to Canadian racing content!
  • 3 0
 And interviews
  • 4 0
Outside isn't a Canadian company. I hope PB doesn't completely lose that quirky Canadian flavor that made them so great in the first place
  • 4 0
Tippie was announcing and out for the entire race series as well, all PB needed to do was to send 1 person with a camera and they would have had plenty of content.
  • 18 5
Here’s another thing PINKBIKE. There were some professional al photographers that make a living taking pictures. Yet you used Finns social media pic instead of supporting others in the industry. Seriously, SHAME ON YOU.
  • 1 2
 Outsiders don’t care! Cucks
  • 2 1
I've noticed PB reposting instagram a lot recently. Do they get a Kickback?
  • 4 0
@dflano: no, they get free images to publish...
  • 10 0
We have been loyal subscribers/followers since the beginning. How is it that you barely support Canadian DH racing? Not to mention your inaccurate reporting when you do. What’s with you guys? How do you not know what’s going on when you guys are the leaders of the largest MTB website. It’s just sad
  • 11 0
Nice work not even mentioning the first time the adaptive category was included in the championship. Seriously that's some pathetic coverage. Thanks @bgoldstone for linking the actual "full" results!
  • 5 0
Super stoked to see the adaptive guys out there smashing some sick DH laps!!! Some of the nicest people on the planet with some really cool stories. I would love to see more coverage on those riders as individuals.
  • 9 0
Wait... Nationals was this weekend? Sure I missed the memo but I also didn't see many about it. Weird. Anyways.... Canada has a stacked group of elite riders this year. Pretty awesome to see. The future Canadian MTB racing is very bright. Well done kids. Jackson.... Dude is on tear this year. Stoked for him.
  • 7 1
The coverage of these races ( yes there were 3 but some only raced the last one ) is terrible. Im starting to think that Pinkbike only wants you to know certain info and their reporting seems to benefit certain racers, so disappointing. so make sure you get the facts. The real warriors were the ones that raced the whole series, in my books anyways..
  • 3 0
Their is a massive difference between race coverage in Canada versus Europe and that's reflected in the overall results in the world cup and world championships. Local, provincial and national race coverage should be a priority for Pink Bike.
  • 6 0
 Good work Casey!
  • 4 0
I wish we could see Casey between the tape more often! Wherever she shows up, she's always leaving with a solid result.
  • 3 0
Elliot Jamieson was 3rd in Elite. Jackson was racing Junior Ex but had the 3rd fastest time of the day. 9 of the top 25 overall were Junior Expert
  • 3 0
Let's not forget that Rheeder was out there killing it too. So stoked to see him in another genre of MTB competing. Such a refreshing perspective from him. Love that guy!
  • 4 0
I didn't even know there was national level dh racing happening in Canada this summer……
  • 2 0
Exactly. Where was the story that it was back on. It was a total last minute push from Dunbar to make it happen and pinkbike didn't even make a peep. Nothing. I'd have raced of I knew it was happening in time. They just don't care about Canada anymore. They haven't even had Canadian MSRP's on most bike/parts tests and reviews. Bullshit deal.
  • 3 0
Perhaps if the Canadian Nationals was rebranded 'Hardline' there would have been some coverage.
  • 1 0
no massive sponsor with the dollar, no coverage welcome to the future of PB.
  • 3 0
Damn, Jackson is gonna be fast af.
  • 2 0
Better coverage of Braytons Nukeproof than the awesome Dunbar Summer series whats the deal?
  • 1 0
nice to see rheeder giving it a shot. does anyone know whether he had an issue or whether he just cruised?
  • 2 0
its a race, why would you cruise?
  • 1 0
 He crashed in finals
  • 1 0
@baileygs: The course was completely chewed up by the time those, last on the course, Pro elite men came down. So kudos to them for making it down in one piece!
  • 1 2
@bikesandbeers: Well, for example like Genon did at Hardlines
  • 2 1
Is this the new Pinkbike- announce the final results of a race by posting the winners?
Spoil-er?
  • 5 0
No video coverage, so how can you have spoliers?
  • 1 0
Scrolled through all of the results just to find that only Candians competed.
