 How do xc riders from Canada and Scandinavian countries deal with their half year of bitter winter?
  • 6 1
 They ride in BC
  • 1 0
 @bikerbarrett: bc gets lots of snow. The island and sunshine coast can be year round sometimes but not always.

 @mrkkbb: Don't I know that. Won't be long before our annual influx of Snow Birds. Take Off Hoser! Aye!

 @makripper: true but if you base out of Victoria it's dry enough you can grind out road miles and mountain bike pretty much every day of the winter, barely any snow. Good for XC, I think that's where Laurie and Emily spent a bunch of time last winter since they couldn't go to Arizona.

 @gramboh: some years. Yes. If you don't mind the freezing cold and rain. I lived there for 4 years. Lol @ dry enough

 @makripper: @gramboh: I have spent most of my life on the island, it is the best place in Canada for year round riding. You can count on about 11 months of good DH riding, about the same for xc and even road riding.

You have to enjoy rain though, I don't mean tolerate, I mean enjoy. Like those winter laps where you get wetter from your wheels underneath than from the rain above!

 The best mountain bikers come from places with winter. How many world class mountain bikers come from Texas?
  • 1 0
 @kclw: Aaron Gwin is from dry Southern California.
  • 2 2
 @extratalldirtrider: How has his XC race career been? This was posted on a topic about XC racing not DH racing. But still, you have to admit for the homeland of mountain biking very few world class racers come from california. Particularly when you consider its population.

 @kclw: dude, chill.
