It's so awesome to have someone of Cathro's level giving insight to all things DH racing. When a "how to" video is posted, you know your getting great advice whether you're a beginner or expert rider.

A storming run from Lew Buchanan on (I assume) his enduro bike again. Only a fraction of a second behind Cathro, would have finished 3rd in elites.

Judging by the track looks like a dh bike wasn't required

@jimmythehat: aye true I've ridden most of that track plenty of times on my enduro bike. TBH Lewis could probably beat most people on a BMX at Inners

@johnnyboy11000: but the main question is why is he entered in expert and not elite !

 @kingdick: www.britishcycling.org.uk/mtb/article/mtbst_Mountain-Bike-Category-System-Explained

probably because he raced mainly EWS over the last few years, not ranked highly enough in DH to qualify as elite

"It's not a race". Well done Cathro

Great result for Cathro, glad to hear he made it round that last corner.

Cathro got second, that's awesome! Hope he gets a chance to race in a World Cup round this season.

Weird having a Canadian in third, why was he allowed to race?

Did Ben get any UCI points for this race? Will he be in the world cup start hut anytime soon?
  • 2 0
From the british cycling page it would seem he would get 125 points for this race.... and world cup is 40 points to enter?

Could be wrong though

@speedyjonzalas: That's BC points, not UCI points. I think none of the UK DH races are UCI affiliated. Hence a lot of the the top brits tend to race in Europe instead

@richlong28: ah thats annoying, didn't realise that was the case. Seems strange considering it's a UK national as there can't be many races bigger than that.

 Ryan Dunn?!!!

 What happened to Lewis buchanan?

1st in expert 3rd overall - no idea why he wasn’t in elite category.

Just look on the link at the bottom he’s on a different page

@ShaunR123: I presume he doesn't have the points to race in Elite as he doesnt race as much as he used to

@ShaunR123: its bizarre but I guess fits the rules. The cross over between the Expert and Elite is very muddy at the moment.
