Your post sounds somewhat callous. "The eldest woman or eldest competitor in the field cleans the field by over 4sec.- Congratulations Jill;" would be more appropriate and not so demeaning and brash.
@HeatedRotor: @HeatedRotor: age does slow you down, though.....eventually. there are special humans among us that get to stay near the top for longer than average. Jill is clearly one(Minnaar too)
what these results show really, is how un-competitive Female DH racing really is. you see it in the UCI results too. the men's field is 4 seconds between 1st and 31st, and the women's is 4 sec from 1st to 3rd. Just a function of biological differences mainly, and to a smaller degree that women tend to get into gravity riding much later than men.
@conoat: It was ment as a positive post, many older people in MTB feel down because they aren't as fast as they could've been when younger, but posts like this atleast gives those people encouragement.
Man PB comments always take a good thing and turn it negative or read basic comments and come up with their own context to fuel their lack of... i assume skill in this case?
@HeatedRotor: how was my response negative in any way?
also, being overly positive, to the willful exclusion of reality, is just as(possibly moreso) damaging as being overly negative.
Jill is amazing. there are also extenuation circumstances to this result. that is all.
stop trying to keep people from voicing their opinion, logical explainations or any other insight that potentially rains on your unwarrantedly rosey view of things.
@conoat: That's a good question, maybe stop and ponder that before the next demeaning post about women.
Especially take a pause before posting about legends of the sport like Jill Kintner, who have gotten there through world class talent and exceptional hard work.
@HeatedRotor: Ever think Jill may possibly be reading comments here? Yes i got it when reading it, though You, having posted the first comment referring to mainly her age, could have at least congratulated Her feat at winning. So Yes somewhat callous.
@likeittacky: Can you and Conoat just not be happy for her? instead of picking at someones comment turning it negative. you two have made more of a point of her age than the original comment.
@DylanH93: Yes - like Crankworx, that should actually be a Thing.
