Bernd Winkler, hell of a name. Can be used as a reminder to pack your sunscreen when heading to the nudist beach.

Came here for a Bernd Winkler joke, but I don’t get this one… can you please elaborate. Sincerely,
Whoosh

 Alma should have won GOLD...

Threw it on last night just to have in the background and got more into it that I thought I would. But forreal no disrespect, but Jordy did the same run/tricks every single time. Tire grab and a tbog vs Alma throwing a 360 and a backflip. She def deserved Gold.

@yoimaninja: Alma was the only woman who backflipped the second jump as well. It might not have been clear from the broadcast but as the sun dropped down it was aiming right at the second jump in the latter stages and that caused trouble. I think Scott mentioned it in her post race interview but it made Alma's last lap that much more impressive.

I think the judges have a list of pts they've awarded for certain tricks, and 90pts for that ugly ass tire grab from Jordy was wack from the start. Also it didn't seem like there were any penalties (or bonuses) for doing a trick clean vs sketch. To think a flawless 360 is only 25 pts higher than that ugly tire grab is kind of mind boggling. Alma def should've won.

Lemoine also shouldn't have gotten past Messere IMO. First run he slipped a pedal on the landing of the first jump and still somehow got very high pts. I guess the judges don't care about cleanliness lol

@adamkat: if it were a slopestyle comp, Alma would have 100% crushed everyone with the dialed 3s and flips. But it’s speed and style, and speed seems to carry more weight than the tricks. Jordy didn’t loose a race all night and won by considerable margins every time, and did what she needed on the jumps to get the win. She’s done flips longer than most of the other competitors, but hasn’t had to bust it out. They all know the scoring/judging system, they gotta weigh the risk/reward card and play to their strengths.

 Buchanan DNS ??
  • 1 0
She came up short on a backflip and ate it pretty hard.
  • 1 0
@Atlmark: during training il suppose, as it's a DNS not DNF
  • 1 0
@fracasnoxteam: The DNS probably refers to her 2nd run. She crashed hard in the 1st run, so her opponent went on to the next round when Buchanan couldn't start the 2nd run.

 Goldstone got robbed
