Timed Training Results: Snowshoe World Cup DH #2 2021

Sep 16, 2021
by Alicia Leggett
Jordan Williams keeps it low on course to his first World Cup win.
Jordan Williams took his first junior World Cup win just yesterday, and in timed training he posted a time that was right up there with the big dogs.

The results are in from timed training at the final race of the World Cup DH season. It seems most riders cruised the track or chose to sit out from timed training, but some put down some seriously fast times.

 I know it's totally a trope, but man I'd love to see an American on the podium in Snowshoe.

 @wasea04: not really a trope when they’ve been racing this track for years more than anyone else…

Wish DH was a wider supported and promoted discipline in US cycling

 @wasea04: Aka Let’s f*cking GO DAK!!!
  • 1 1
 @leviatanouroboro: I know it won't console you, but even with such champions/winners, France is not promoting DH either, and there's absolutely no coverage from the medias. It's a shame.
Cheers man!

 @danstonQ: That's true on the media side, but I think from the FFC, DH gets decent support no?

 @Obiwankenoob: I guess you're right Wink

 @Obiwankenoob: Meanwhile, a miracle happened. After my 3rd or 4th mail to Le Monde complaining about the unexistant coverage of DH, the paper finally released an article about it. I can't believe it!!!

 This is the first time I've looked at the speeds in those results tables. I'm always looking at placings and times, but those speeds are pretty bonkers. Especially considering they are average speeds. Makes me wonder what speed I go on the trails (hint: it's probably less than 55mph)
  • 4 0
 It's kilometers. And it's just in the final triple gap or whatever near the end. Definitely not an average speed considering the flat rock gardens here.
  • 1 0
 @lepigpen: aha - thanks!
  • 5 0
 Go Mik, I hope you have the best run off your career!!
  • 3 1
 I believe the speed is measured in KPH not MPH. Still hard to think of averaging / 34.6 MPH down that course. Im not sure anything could average 55.946 MPH.

 How's the weather looking for race day?

 Good to see an American on the top step this time!!

 Wtf is going on with the elite women’s timing.,

 Just a cruiser day. And qualies dont count for points tomorrow.

 I've had it with these tt-deniers
  • 2 0
 Bruni?
  • 1 0
 Will this race be on the same course?
  • 3 0
 1/3 of the course has changed
  • 1 0
 Wouldn’t it be better of qualifying counted?
  • 1 0
 I wonder if ththe so is one of the moments when they don't want the possibility of qualifying deciding the World Cup. I know this issue has been discussed in DH in the past and is brought up in debates about points for F1 qualifying for example. Thinking about it right now, I wouldn't mind if that happens. It's cool that quali counts for something but at the same time it's not do or die for protected riders.
  • 1 0
 Sure I’ve read recently that qualifying at the last race of the season doesn’t award points. It’s just the rules.
  • 1 0
 Always good to know who won practice!
  • 1 1
 What trails are they using for round 2?
  • 2 0
 I think very similar, with a few small tweaks?
  • 2 2
 hoping to see a GOAT in the results

 Didn't he year something in his shoulder?
