Results UCI World Cup DH Leogang - Qualifications 2015

Junior Men:
1st Andrew Crimmins 3:48.653
2nd Laurie Greenland 3:49.943
3rd Jacob Dickson 3:50.514

DHI_MJ_Results_QR (1)

Quick Facts:
- Greenland and Crimmins seemed barely out of breath when they came over the line, not even breaking a sweat!
- Jacob Dickson almost made up an entire second in the last section, crossing the line he said he had a mistake in the woods. Could this be his first world cup win?
- With the top 3 spread over 1.8 seconds, the rest of the field are a further 2.5 seconds back - showing there is a similar gap appearing in the upper echelon of Juniors similar to the Women.
- Henry Fitzgerald comes home in 4th and was held up for most of the bottom section, we'll call big things from this chap on Sunday.

Elite Women:
1st Rachel Atherton
2nd Emmeline Ragot
3rd Tahnee Seagrave

DHI_WE_Results_QR (2)

Quick Facts:
- Live timing causing complete chaos at the finish line.
- Atherton crosses the line seemingly frustrated by her run, but 5 seconds up on 2nd place Ragot.
- Carpenter visibly disappointed by her effort, hopefully she can spring back tomorrow.
- Women's field very spread out with no bunching up at the front, should make for a very exciting race!

Results UCI World Cup DH Leogang - Qualifications 2015

Elite Men:
1st Aaron Gwin 3:35.358
2nd Connor Fearon 3:36.790
3rd Remi Thirion 3:38.259

DHI_ME_Results_QR (1)

Quick Facts:
- Loic Bruni crashes! Fastest at split 1 and not even a second back at split 2, which is where you would expect Gwin to be dominating.
- Gwin shows his dominance again by coming over first. In practice he was hitting every possible tight line - perhaps this is where he found 1.5 seconds?
- BOS Head Engineer Arthur says that unless Remi crashed in the qualifying run he will probably struggle to find those 3 seconds.
- Bernard Kerr crashed in the woods rode a section sat on his top tube, losing 3 seconds he believes.
- Brendan Fairclough makes up an incredible 6 places in the last split!
- Andrew Neethling completely covered in dust and misses out on qualifying. A real shame after looking great in practise.
- And wait for it.......

I like the fact that there are 6 different nationalities represented in the first 7 places. Makes it even more exciting!
  • 10 4
I may be wrong but i think that MTB is the only sport on earth with such a lot of countries represented, and coming from every continent! that's awesome, MTB is a big family across the world!
  • 8 1
It is mostly countries with European descend. Track and field has from almost every country of the world. From chinese hurdlers and sprinters, etiopian long distance runners up to eastern european pole vaulters.
  • 6 1
Narro2 - maybe because it is easier to afford shoes for track and field, than a DH bike. It is only the West, where average man seems to sit on such budget... just a thought... Marcelo Guitierrez is a freak enough for me when it comes to demographics Razz
  • 4 0
yeah, pinche Marcelo!!, i am really rooting for him to be concistent this year, very talented and commited guy, and hopefully that entinces young talented riders to stay away from the pot and alcohol, that´s the other problem in latinamerica man, the very few talented kids that get access to good bikes and start having good results nationally, abuse that little fame they get partying hard and thats when everything starts to fall appart. I am not against partying, its just that if one wants to be a profesional athlete there´s got to be a balance.

Stoked on Gwin obviously, he just a smart racer (kinda like Hill and those inside lines) but I think I'm pulling hardest for brendog to make podium. I want to see that dude on the box on you can tell hes trying hard.
  • 21 1
Would be nicer to have a stream, wouldn't have to be like their full Race coverage. Just a camera of the finish area with live timings.
  • 19 0
Yeah Fearon on a crazy run!!!!
  • 6 0
Friggen awesome! I hope he can put it together tomorrow!!
  • 7 0
Only 1.4 back from Gwin, pretty impressive! I'd love to see him podium
  • 17 0
Well done Connor! Good to see Stevie and Rat up there too!
  • 16 0
Love seeing Jill qualify 5th being a "privateer". Other teams take note.
  • 3 0
When did Jill drop Norco/Norco drop her? I was surprise to read ealier this week she was running privateer...anyone know wjat happened?
  • 3 0
I don't think Norco have a International team. So she had to go in as a privateer. I'm sure she'll have the full support of her sponsors there and friends willing to help her out.
  • 11 0
not being patriotic here, it's just that I've seen the kid at the local races, but a great result from Silas Grandy!!! He was already 7th at the seeding in Lourdes and then crashed hard in finals. And he has way less support than most of the other Juniors.

Nothing wrong with being proud of your country, bro Beer
  • 7 3
"Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind." - Albert Einstein
  • 6 0
Nationalism =/= patriotism. The difference is well deserved pride in ones accomplishments and beliefs of your country vs insecure xenophobic aggression based on fear of other cultures.. I know there is an easily crossed line dividing the two.. But they are not synonymous.

Loic fastest at split one and second at split 2! must of had an off but he's right up there with gwin the machine

  • 7 0
Gwin, quite impressive putting 1.5 secs up on the whole field. Glad to see Smith back in the mix!

"......2 of the top 10 using flat pedals"

and?
  • 5 7
C'mon, I bet if we dig deep enough we can find some soft spot in your nerdity, where you assume some minor component/factor plays a large role, where in fact it doesn't. Everyone has one. (except prof Richard Dawkins, he has no soft spots, he is the most reasonable person on the planet)
  • 7 4
nope, I just don't care what pedals they use. its totally irrelavent to my enjoyment of the sporting spectical
  • 6 0
 keyword: "my".

dont be selfish/arrogant, many other people care about flats vs clipless, its like mustang vs camaro, nike vs adidas, yes there will never be a clear cut no 1, but it keeps life entertaining and we, as entertaining people, like to have lighthearted banter/arguments about it.
why?
because we can.
so take your opinion, and stuff it.

thank you, mgmt.
  • 1 3
Oh well just because some people care about flats vs clipless, carbon vs alu, Canon vs Nikon doesn't mean anything. Whenever I want to express my opinion I am not getting paranoid if I'm going to hurt someone's feelings. I can give it a thought as being an arrogant a-hole does not make the world a better place and definitely won't make me feel better about myself but... As long as internet is concerned, if someone is sensitive then that's his problem.
  • 1 0
nonono the point is why suppress the discussion?

its not hurting anyone, and if anything it is helping the community.
  • 1 0
no one is suppressing the discussion, its just a totaly pointless one. as its a personal choice what you use the that that 2 in te top 10 use flats or 8 in the top 10 use clipless is meaningless. I prefer dark chocolate, the wife prefers milk, one is not better than the other. its clearly not like wheel size Razz
  • 8 1
 Yeah!! COnnoorr!
  • 5 1
 YEAH CONNAH!
  • 5 0
A good result for young Aussies! Stoked to have Fearon in 2nd and crimmins getting top quai for the jnrs!

  • 5 0
Thanks, BOS head engineer. I was waiting with baited breath for him/her to predict the race outcome.
  • 7 0
 Eliot Jackson?
  • 2 0
Good question. Don't see him anywhere in the results.
  • 3 0
rumors he totalled himself in whistler a few weeks back. rumor of a biiiig crash.
  • 6 0
 Go Brendog!!!
  • 2 0
May as well ask here, what's up with the Syndicate riders not having their team name under their name in the UCI results, is it something to do with the "not a trade team" thing? What is the "not a trade team" thing anyway?
  • 6 0
Their costumes didn't meet the UCI team regulations, so officially they are not a team.
  • 2 0
They all have different kit sponsors, so not a trade team.
  • 7 0
Why did the first 3 womens times come up then only refreshes the juniors over and over?!
  • 4 0
The UCI timing system is having a couple of glitches. Hopefully they ( Tissot) sort it soon.
  • 1 0
Not a race goes by without some glitch in the timings, be it qualis or race split times..
  • 3 0
Nice to see a couple of privateers in the top 10. Someone should sponsor them. Oh, and get it, Stevie!
  • 3 0
anybody know what the weather is like right now in leogang?
  • 7 0
It's sunny and hot with only a few clouds in the sky.
  • 2 0
 It's supposed to change though.
  • 4 1
there are always problems with andrew neethling it's incredible
  • 4 0
So true - him and Hannah, so capable to throw down some great runs, but are constantly plagued by bad luck. Really wanted them to have a great year.
  • 2 1
Anybody know where bruni crashed? He would have won last year if he hadn't crashed on the right hander after the waterfall rut section.
  • 2 0
Fairclough will podium this weekend. A bold prediction but you heard it here first.
  • 3 1
 Gwin will take the overall!!!!
  • 1 0
Why was Josh Bryce allowed to wear a GoPro in his run? Thought they were banned by the UCI...
  • 2 0
 Is qualifying not streamed anywhere?
  • 1 0
I was wondering the same... :/
  • 1 0
 No, just finals I'm afraid.
  • 4 4
They forgot to say that finn Iles would be 4th in Junior with his time of 5:51 for the opening run...

And he's not even junior this year. Ha ha!
  • 1 0
Loic 1st at split 1, 2nd at split 2 and 15 seconds back? crash in last section I guess.
  • 1 0
 2 crashes
  • 6 0
Loic has to stop crashing. If he does that, he will crush it.
  • 1 0
Only .07 difference between Gwin and Bruni after the first 2 splits. Should be real interesting Sunday.
  • 4 0
Anybody can crash but Bruni seems to be making a habit of having "issues". I think Gwin or Thirion get this win.
  • 2 0
 Very nice qualification sheet
  • 1 0
Yeah nice, Tissot Timing finally joins the rest of us in 2015.
  • 1 0
Did Bruni really crash or is this a seeding play for psychological or weather reasons?
  • 1 0
I see by the pic that its Fearon on flat pedals...but who's the other of the top 10 that was on flats? Brendog?
  • 3 0
 Go Bruniiii!!!!!
  • 2 0
maybe was good for him to crash on qualis, he might feel less pressure dropping in earlier. (even tho that trick didn't work for peaty on world champs)
  • 3 0
 whats up wit neko?
