@L0rdTom:@L0rdTom: he got confused... I told him he was being an ass when he called us all high, stoners, drinks, lazy, etc and insisted we be fired in every article we posted from Mont St Anne.
All because we spelled one riders name wrong and forgot an e at the end of a word somewhere.
also the speed and style was very disapoiting. that pump track was so boring.
anyway the Slopestyle track is always by far the best and Garbanzo is amazing, the trails from EWS was the best...
I was different, fast. Most of the riders liked it. Sort of like Red Bull Straight Line Rhythm thing with moto. Good for the audience and remote viewers .
I was there lastnight, the track was a huge disappointment. There wasn't enough corners. Because of this all the times were hundredths of a second difference between them. While that makes for some close finishes, it takes away the chance of making mistakes or the ability to make up time, like in the women's final, that was won on the first race. And then on the big screen they're showing all the past clips from other crankworx pumptrack events, it wasn't even comparable.
When the beeps start the gate is dropping so there's no way to anticipate the drop. Some riders prefer to watch for the light, others prefer to focus on the first obstacle and go on the beep. BMXers have the advantage of knowing how to maximize momentum when the gate drops but with no chain, there's no first pedal snap.
Isn't this a chainless event? As a long time bmx racer, without a chain on your bike, you don't "snap" at all. Maybe you get your body weight moving forwards somewhat but it's all the same on the gate. Yeah, bmxers rule, haha.
Did anyone else notice there was zero upsets in the first round with the men? The higher quali rider won every single time! With the women there was one, Joey Gough. Kinda surprising to not see any others.
Who did Joey Gough upset? She's a badass and stylish rider that used to be a kickass racer, you know she was racing World Cup 4x about 10 years ago, she's not exactly and unknown!
@PhillipJ: so why is there a cadence in 4X? I wish it wasn't even in BMX. I want to see the fastest rider win, not just the person who has the cadence down to the millisecond.
Forgive my ignorance but what are you guys referring to by "cadence" at the start? The starts tonight definitely looked different than the rest of crankworx, with a bunch of racers wobbling their front tire a bunch on the roll in.
@Toryt7: it is the set of beeps that go off in the leadup to the moment the gate drops. If you watch a BMX race start you'll clearly see the riders bodies moving up and forwards moments before the gate drops. That's why if there's a malfunction and the gate doesn't drop, the riders fall over the gate.
@AlanMcCrindle: the beeps are still the same. They call it 'random', but it isn't. I was racing BMX when they introduced random starts. As long as there is any sort of forewarning that the gate is about to drop, riders will anticipate the drop and start moving. Watch the proof:
Needles is killing it on the commentary. Hope to hear more of him.
Needles to say you're all right.
All because we spelled one riders name wrong and forgot an e at the end of a word somewhere.
Kind of like the post above.
You don't have the excuse of loosing your chain or getting a flat
