Thank you so much Sam Hill, for shredding a whole second+ faster than your peers. He's always been the biggest threat on the Mtn. Glad to see him put all together again. Rocking flat pedals and shorts too, that's some real DH shit!
Yet people will continue to believe clips are faster and they need carbon and the lightest kit on the market to win.
Ride what your comfortable on, its the rider who smokes the field not the parts.
Tracy Hannahs enduro bike was stolen from her while going for a swim!....?.....come on you f*cken low life, I hope you get busted and if not now, sometime in your future you dumb idiot karma will have its revenge.
So stoked for Sam. Been cheering this guy on for over ten years. There was a point I thought he might never win another with the depth of talent there is now and how many times he has been close. After meeting him in cairns this year and seeing how down to earth he is it just makes it so good to see him win after all the injuries he has been thru. To see him fight his way back from injury and win with a stacked field was awsome. It's the best sport in the world.
Sam Fucking Thunder From Down Under Hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only am I stoked for his win, but stoked because he did it on a single pivot, non carbon anything...which means true to everything...skill means everything, a fancy carbon 15 thousand dollar Specialized Demo will not make you win a W.C. race alone!
So stoked for Sam such a long time coming.
Gotta hand it to Gee too, most people wouldn't have gone near a bike, let alone raced it to a WC top 10 with an injury like that!
WHAM BAM! FUUUUUAAACK YEEEE!! This is the race a lot of fans been hoping for, surely I was not the only one screaming of joy. You could see how taken he was by the moment.
Pretty bad post race interview tough, the standard questions felt a bit boring in regards to what a big thing this win was to Sam and the fans.
You could see the interviewer's mic shaking like crazy, I'm pretty sure he had no idea how to even speak because he was trying to contain his overwhelming excitement as well haha!
I thought the interview was classic, a more laid back man you will not find, even had the coolness to avoid swearing on the live feed, he was shitting himself waiting the remaining riders
Samuel Hill. In my opinion the greatest technical track rider on the planet. I agree with Rob Warner, Sam typifies what downhill is for a lot of people. So happy to see him take the win at MSA.
One very proud Aussie here. And what a fortnight/2 weeks for Australian MTBing. So stoked for Sam for getting on that top step again. I thought I was excited to see Jared win the EWS .... has nothing on this!!!
Actually what I love most besides Sam Hill winning is...Specialized and Santa Cruz unless their new over priced carbon everything bikes for this race, and Sam wins on nothing carbon, and a single pivot. So again, skill is everything, not the over priced carbon bike these bike companies are trying to make you buy promising you'll be a better rider!
Peaty says it best.
Sam fricken Hill!!!! Give him the crown.
Back!
Congrats Sam, you deserve this, great result for DH and for the loyal fans that have continued to believe in you, thanks man!
WOW!!!!! That is all I can say! Sadly, I didnt watch the race (was busy riding my bike to work!!) but WOW!!! Been a long time between drinks but Sam Hill for the win, on flats (who said you need to be clipped in to be successful in cycling??) As for the Hill doubters out there, bagging his decision to leave the big S for CRC/Nukeproof and stating "he will never win another WC DH again" (and the guys back even further when he left Iron Horse to go to the big S) he has proved you all wrong!!
what's interesting actually is that Sam has ridden all of his bikes to a world championship win.. i think it's about time Nukeproof becomes world champion.
Has anyone noticed that racing is becoming more awesome now there's so much competition for first place? Sam Hill proving that he still has what it takes while Ratboy and Hart are showing us they can be consistently fast. Is there anything not to like in such a result?
Indeed but those 4 riders are so damn talented anyway. Those new steeds are both gorgeous DH weapons.
That said in this new bike match you could possibly argue that Santa Cruz won with a close margin thanks to a one position difference if you add Mont Sainte-Anne's final top 10 standings - lowest added score takes the win:
What's interesting is that both companies have different philosophies and each of them have a specific design approach resulting in different bikes that both perform at the very top and push the limits of our sport.
The best part in that global story is that we all benefit from those technological advances when we buy new bikes.
Yea, I see it as Santa Cruz and Specialized are selling you over priced bikes you obviously don't need when a half the price single pivot, aluminum non carbon anything bike beat both theirs. Skill wins.
being such a dick? he's the one having a good time while atrocities are commited outside. lol sorry for insulting israel because they will kill hundreds innocent today,i will make them feel bad.these guys are fascists
No need for a personal attack on someone for what their country is doing. My country is embroiled in conflicts around the world, does that mean I stand up and agree with it, no. If he had posted a comment saying something related to it then maybe your comment would have been justified. Otherwise, you are being a dick.
leftist opinions?are you living in utopia? not even gonna comment on that braindead characterization.i'm shocked to see how desensitized people are at this time. a genocide is going on in his backyard and this guy is here occupied on cheering for his favorite biker. i thought we cyclists were better. the whole internet needs to get its ass up,live up to its value and condemn these terrible acts, given the chance!
I do not condone the actions from both sides, I believe there is no place for violence in the modern world. Im not overly ecstatic about whats going on but there is no need to take it out on a fellow biker just because his country is at war. He isnt in charge, hes just another biker dude who happens to live in israel. Pinkbike is a place to escape life and see what other bikers up to, if you feel so against it and want to discuss it, post in the forum, they have a place for social discussions. In the meantime lets just leave it at that. And let it be known that sam, the king is back.
Fine ..., so I will stand outside your house and scream at your family and when that doesn't get rid of you I will burn your house down and then I will promise to eliminate you and when you come out to challenge me I will cry about how you are a bully and when you go back home I will throw a rock at your head and hide behind my infant son and basically make your life intolerable ( not withstanding we used to be friends and neighbours).... And you will get angry and since nobody will help you and my family and friends are coming over to help me fight you , when you finally retaliate I will call you the aggressor and then you will set fire to my house etc.... Will anyone win here?... Not likely.... I guess when someone treats you like an enemy it doesn't matter?
I fucking love pinkbike activism. Attacking a Sam Hill fan on the internet just saved countless Palestinian babies. Thanks for making the world a better place.
keep living your easy life. but let others take some things seriously.i was talking to that israeli guy not any idiot with a keyboard . unfortunately as conformists you dislike anybody who expresses disagreement and choose to hide my reply. "oh look at that angry dude is he nuts?!" of course that makes me happy as i know that im not likeable to idiots. third person opinions i didnt ask for any.why dont you guys mind your own business(maybe try do something useful like CARING for something) and let the person i was talking to reply to me if he has to? you wont see any palestinians in pinkbike unfortunately. they have other priorities u know.
yeah mr. session, well i guess being a first world citizen that doesnt care about anything and gets in the middle of conversations to get attention is known to be a cure to many problems.in my first reply i was being sarcasting. nobody had to get involved.see,we just wasted space
You're adorable. What does your "caring" influence? How many Palestinians have you saved from "atrocities"? Why haven't you joined Hamas instead of sitting here on pinkbike being a forum warrior while "genocide" is occurring? Get out there and dig some tunnels and solve some "problems".
OI OI OIIIIII Sam Hill is a legend!!!!! Its not everyday you see Sam shed emotion, the lines he takes, cutting corners and his all round creativity is on another level and its SO good to see him back on top. This man pushed the limits of DH and i his Nukeproof really does suit his style of riding!
I am stoked for Sam - he was clearly the most aggressive on the course today, and his line choices were just soooo Sam Hill. I don't care much for his stoic (media) personality, but who cares? Great rider - great determination - great win!
But why are people so stoked for flat pedals? Does that validate your own preferences in some way? Who cares what pedals? Ride what makes you feel comfortable. I suck equally on flats or clips. Ohhhhh wait, I get it - real free-riders ride flats, racers and XC types clip in. What evs. Congrats on your pedal choice vindication! Rest easy now...
Yeah, that did come off worse than I meant it. I was trying to be funny. Didn't work. Can't take it back. Neg prop away! Still stoked for Hill. Great run - outrageous line choices.
I don't think it's fair to say "from down under" Sam Hill is known to be a beast, everyone knows he has it in him. It has just taken him a little while to get it dialed again. It's not like he just popped out of nowhere lol. But super stoked he won, and almost just as excited to see Troy Bronsan on the podium of so many this year.
i never realised that before haha, i thought something was up with the stream on this one and was thinking that the whole thing was late or something lol!
Nope. Apparently only the Kona team are still on 26ers if I heard right. Too bad Fearon didn't race, no doubt he'd have gone well here or at the very least been entertaining.
I've never heard the exact definition of gutted, but judging by the context in which I've seen it used I'd say it means very disappointed, whereas pissed off (at least in yank terms) means very angry. Clearly not the same thing. The US equivalent would be more along the lines of "really bummed", or something like that.
yeah man thats a pretty good translation. although if you were to say you had been bummed in england you could quite easily be mistaken for meaning something entirely different from what you intended....
Yeah, I find that most people pay little to no attention to context. For instance, I've never heard someone use "been bummed" as a verb before, but based on the way you've said it I'm inclined to think it might mean the same thing as buggered. If so, then I must remember to say gutted if I am ever in the U.K. and I was feeling very disappointed about something.
Flat pedals...check
Aluminum frame...check
26" Wheels...check
I'm fairly certain that this man just destroyed some marketing hype
The race only could have been better if Peaty and Ed Masters podiumed as well
JK
Hill is an animal. Rough track and he could win on any one of the curret dh bikes.
Wonder I he dusted off an old iron house Sunday how'd he do?
And how tough is Gee Atherton!
How great is this season shaping up?!... No one has won twice... who on earth is going to win the World Champs?!!!
That said in this new bike match you could possibly argue that Santa Cruz won with a close margin thanks to a one position difference if you add Mont Sainte-Anne's final top 10 standings - lowest added score takes the win:
Santa Cruz Syndicate: Ratboy Bryceland 2nd + Greg Minnaar 7th = 9
&
Specialized: Troy Brosnan 4th + Gwin 6th = 10
What's interesting is that both companies have different philosophies and each of them have a specific design approach resulting in different bikes that both perform at the very top and push the limits of our sport.
The best part in that global story is that we all benefit from those technological advances when we buy new bikes.

if u want to talk politics u can send me a private message.
in pinkbike we talk about bicycles.

Also, another horrible produced video event by RedBull. By far the worst of the season. Pretty sure they use a high school A/V club to do this stuff.
