Loving how consistant Bryceland has been riding this season. Always good to see those who seem to really enjoy themselves on a bike put in good results also.
  • 14 0
on a new bike, too! Well done, Ratty! Seems the new wheels are working for him.
  • 18 0
Points are tight at the mo. If I'm not mistaken, if ratboy comes first tomorrow, regardless of were Brosnan and gwin come, he will be leading te overall? This is such an exciting season. The overall title is still open to many and any one of them could do it.
Last round will be intense!

congrats Ratboy! its funny how all u die-hard 26" advocates are suddenly quiet, but you'll still take that wheel size to your graves. ok, neg props roll in...
  • 10 13
That's what is awesome about DH: if someone is riding consistently well you don't have a bunch of weenies claiming that doping has something to do with it. Yeah, I am a xc/road dweeb also. Cyclingnews.com aka the hen house! Long live pinkbike!
  • 19 0
@sicsoma - what, because a racer who was already doing well on a 26er is still doing well now that he's on a 27.5?
  • 22 3
@sicsoma That's a pretty ridiculous straw man there. If I was racing DH, especially on the vast majority of the tracks now I'd ride 650b without even thinking about it. Same goes for if I was racing Enduro. Most testing shows riders are a few seconds faster on the slightly bigger wheels, but if I'm riding just for fun I still think the 26" wheels are a better fit for me personally. Who cares which wheel size people ride if it works for them? If I want to ride on 26" wheels till I die and people buy enough 26" wheel bikes to keep companies producing them then we have more variety to choose from and variety is the spice of life. Someone doing well racing the 650b wheel size doesn't invalidate a persons preference for riding 26" wheels nor has it shut anyone up.

Wheel size aside, I'm glad to see ratboy shaking things up on the podium.
  • 3 1
DH! DH! DH! I absolutely love downhill and my girlfriend hates me!!
  • 11 0
Girlfriends come and go but dh is forever lol
  • 6 0
Poor Eliot Jackson. Running 14th in both splits then flatting right before the end. Total bummer for him, I want to see him near the podium!
  • 6 1
Imagine if I had a name like Jimmy Recard.....
  • 2 1
BBQ with the boys to watch race day in Dorset and cheer on the rat!! Sewer rat style

  • 18 2
I'm gutted for Stevie that he is out. I really wanted to see him crush it again this year. Last years race finish when he crossed the line in first was just awesome.
  • 1 0
What's up with steve. Why isn't he racing?
  • 4 0
He's got a bum ankle.. Hope he has a speedy and full recovery!
  • 4 0
last years run from stevie was the most exciting thing I have ever seen, hands down!
  • 5 0
Minus Gwin's no tire run right??? ha!
  • 8 1
Gwins no tire run was awesome but Stevie coming down last with the rain that started after Gee set the best time was the biggest emotional roller coaster I have ever had watching a WC. I jumped out of my chair when he crossed the finish.

Also it was arguably the craziest and loudest "look at the time" Sir Rob Warner has ever let fly. Absolutely amazing race, I have watched that run over and over since on youtube and still get goosebumps.

I'd be happy to see Hart, Hill, or Brendog take it all, of them are overdue for a win.
  • 1 0
I saw gwins run live from the finish area, was more of a party with everybody cheering him on!
  • 1 0
2 out of three aint bad!
  • 11 1
Manon is on FIRE.... Bummed to see Tahnee and Myriam with DNFs, hope it's just flats/other harmless mechanicals...
  • 1 0
Are Tahnee and Mryiam protected? Not sure how far down the order that goes for the women, top 5 overall, top 10 maybe? Any idea?
  • 2 1
Both are protected. (The little 'P' to the right of their rank is what to look for.)
  • 1 2
Myriam is prequalified. Tahnee is not.
  • 4 0
 Tahnee IS Prequalified
  • 2 0
My bad, I missed the second page.
  • 8 1
Holy crap - Josh Bryceland sitting in 1st after 12 riders, awesome!! Hope he throws down a fast run during finals too, would be sick to see him on the podium again!

  • 5 0
Looks like we have a battle between the new Spesh Demo and the Santa Cruz V-10. Noice!
  • 3 0
Stevie posted on his fb page that he had fractured his good ankle. He doesn't need surgery but is heading home for recovery. Sounds minor but will take him out for a few more races.
  • 3 0
Gutted for Stevie, best he writes this year off and fully recovers. On the upside... RATBOY! He is on a roll!
  • 4 0
 josh bryceland in first Smile
  • 4 0
an extra 50pts for my fantasy team Smile thank you very much josh! something told me you had it in you this year!
  • 8 6
interesting that Danny Hart and Sam Hill were both faster than Bryceland's time in timed training yesterday. Were track conditions wet today?
  • 21 6
could just be because timed training doesn't count for shit whereas this is actually worth some points
  • 6 9
That is interesting, probably rained pretty good. Timsim your comment doesn't make sense, it's suddenly qualies and everyone decides to go slower or something? Yeah real smart.
  • 4 0
yeah timsim07 i know timed training doesn't count for anything but there times were actually faster which is strange as you would imagine them to be slower than quails. thats why i was asking about what track conditions were like.
  • 5 2
farry i think you are missing some punctuation. i had to read that three times to figure out what you where saying.
  • 2 2
Umm, I think, and I'm pretty sure he means that Bryceland wasn't really going flat out yesterday! Not that the others slowed down! Sheesh!
  • 6 0
Sam Hill and Danny Hart both got a 4:19 in timed training yesterday and the fastest time today was a 4:19. I was just saying this seems strange as normally times are faster in the qualification runs.
  • 2 0
He's saying that both Hills and Harts times from pratice was faster than Brycelands qualifier time. They are were going faster yesterday than anyone did today..
  • 3 0
Sorry guys i fucked up. Miss-read the original comment. That is really weird though, I'd be quite interested to find out what happened there.
  • 3 0
It was fuckn wet today we had mega storm yesterday night, and a little shower in the afternoon... cheers
  • 2 0
Thanks guigui333. I hope tomorrow the tracks would be in best condition for all the riders!
  • 1 0
little storm in the forecast 40% chance in the afternoon. Top qualifiers will probably run a wet track... I Highly doubt the track will be dry by tommorow.... Just to give you an idea: www.pinkbike.com/video/373594

  • 1 0
 wet
  • 1 0
 really wet, muddy
  • 1 0
Anyone know what happened to Eliot Jackson? He was 14th through split 2 and ended up not qualifying. Was it a mechanical or crash?
  • 1 0
He got a flat 30 seconds from the finish.
  • 1 0
It rained very hard on the top half of the course right before the start. There was no rain on the bottom half of the course.
  • 2 0
Stevie commented on his fb page that he fractured the good ankle... No surgery this round but he is headed home to recover.
  • 3 2
Top 4 women separated by 29 secs Top 31 men separated by 18 secs Pretty standard in terms of disappointing depth of the field.
  • 12 0
There were over 200 males competing and only 40 women (which is a huge field for ladies, seems like normally it's ~20)... maybe you should be focusing on getting more women into the sport if you want to deepen the field? Just a thought. Smile
  • 1 0
ed master ride the pumptrack ride after the qualification. thlse bergamont hayes rider are the true spirit of dh biking. ed doing manual with flip flop

The womens results is a tad hard to read
  • 3 0
Tis a bit. Good to see Keline Bagoo in 2nd tho. Shes one of my favorite riders.
  • 1 0
Am I reading that womens top 4 results right? 24 seconds between third and forth? Did it start raining or something?
  • 1 0
no, they are just that much faster.
  • 1 0
with the women, positions 12-15 are the closest of the group, but almost a full minute off the pace... just a fluke?
  • 1 0
Macdonald Dale Cole and Fearon all badly off the pace. I forget - are top 20 overall protected or just top 15?
  • 1 0
Don't know about the other boys but Fearon flatted in quali.
  • 2 0
the "P" next to the name on the list means protected
  • 1 0
How is there that much disparity in the Pro Women's field? Tracey Hannah 30 seconds back in 4th place?!?
  • 2 0
Gonna be cheering for Ratboy tomorrow...
  • 1 0
Looks like many of the top riders didn't push too hard during the first sector, saving it for sunday.
  • 1 0
It was very wet for the top riders in the first sector.
  • 3 2
Why so much speed out of Great Britain. What is it there? Not really a lot of mountains or a lot of people.
  • 10 0
Awesome racing scene , year round riding , there is no riding season as such here, tracks are tech , rarely does any thing get " fixed " regarding braking bumps and shit.

But still it doesn't really make sense !
  • 3 0
We don't have many pike parks available and even fewer with an uplift service. If you want to ride at places with uplifts regularly the best way to do that is by racing. So everyone races
  • 4 0
Dare I say it, bikeparks don't make downhillers. Britain has lots of short track local downhill that isn't well manicured but is tight, loose and technical, not to mention there's plenty of wet weather practise and different terrain types: sand, chalk rock, mud, rocks, roots, loam, flint etc etc. The whole country is a downhill training ground; in Oz you have generally have only 1 or 2 local'ish tracks and they are the same dirt type etc, the country is much further spaced apart. (I grew up in England)
  • 2 0
We have big balls. And brave ladies!
  • 2 0
England have a larger population than Canada still, its a very densely populated country with mountain biking obsessed citizens who like getting loose in all weather conditions. RATBOY FOR THE WIN
  • 2 0
Blenki still top 10, go Blenki!!!
  • 5 2

I must be stupid, but how the hell do I view the results thru this Scribd crap without it asking me to pay?
  • 1 0
isnt that always how it is?
  • 1 0
Its a official UCI release why does pinkbike have to be sleazy and hook up with a subscription service? Its pathetic.
Here is an example of how to not make it a f*ckaround to view free information: dirtmountainbike.com/news/msaqualifyingresults.html#!btALxD
  • 3 1
Not a bad result for Mexican Female Champ Lorena Dromundo... :-)
