Got a feeling he's gonna take this one. Suits him, fast, slippery, and minimal pedaling.

Can't think of a better season of DH in recent years. Nothing more exciting than having 5 or 6 different riders that could take the win. So many of these guys are at the top of their game. Having said that, be stoked for Hill to take this one. The man is on his way back to the top.
  • 3 0
I agree. The racing this year has been phenomenal, it's been a breakout year for three or four riders (Manon, Josh, Troy, Blenki, and the return of Sam Hill), and having a brand new track for this last race will make it a spectacle for sure. I am going to be glued to my computer this weekend.
  • 7 0
To be fair, Blenki has been having similar seasons for a while, last year he back to back podiumed an EWS and Fort William which I still think is absolutely epic.
  • 2 0
I don't really think 2014 could be considered a breakout year for Blenki, considering he won the World Cup at Schladming in 2008, and was 3rd overall in the World Cup in 2010. But yeah, this season has been the best in a loooong time!
  • 3 1
...and return of the gwinner. He raised the bar, was caught/surpassed, and has caught back to all but rb, whom raised the bar very recently again. Good stuff!
  • 18 2
hill and brendog 1,2 would be sick! excited to see the racing!!
  • 18 2
 brendog for the podium man!!!!!
  • 1 0
 Couldn't agree more!
  • 11 1
12 in the top 25 men, 3 in top 5 for the women, 2 in the top 5 juniors. The Brits are stomping it!! Let's hope they can carry this on all weekend!
  • 10 0
 HILL FOR THE KILL!!!
  • 5 0
I just love Josh's attitude, like so laid back and easy going, nothing seems to faze him.. loves to party come win or not.. his riding is just a lesson in the art of DH seemingly not pushing hard, but coming up faster in the splits than anyone else. With Peaty as a mentor i suppose it was obvious he would turn out the way he has :-) He will be there come the finish, hopefully in top spot, and deservedly so, if not then he'll laugh it off, have a few drinks, and be back on his bike the next day........
  • 4 0
If he wins the overall he might be off the bike and on the beer for more than just the night. And deservedly so, he's a legend for all the reasons that you said!
  • 1 0
That would be a party ! and one i'd pay to sit in the corner of ;-)
  • 4 0
Steep, gnarly, natural, no pedaling, shit loads of obscure line choices that those two will thrive on. Most of the tracks this year have been one liners most of the way down, so they go against Hills and Hart's unique abilities I guess.
  • 8 0
And Remy Thirion, he will take interesting lines for sure!
  • 3 0
Yeah, Remy took some crazy lines lat year (french cup), impressive to watch in the roots !
  • 4 0
But how does this timed training raeally work? Brosnan and Gwin are like 5-6 min back? I guess it is allowed to stop mid course and go pick up some mushrooms and extra scope some lines....can anyone explain please? Smile
  • 5 0
It's just training with the clock running so the riders can get an idea of how fast they're going. But if you look at previous timed training stats you'll see Gwin almost never puts in a full run during training.
  • 6 1
It's just practice, but they time you using the official timing gear. If you're interested in knowing how fast you can go, ride it like a race-lap. If you're playing things close to your chest, slow down and don't let everybody and their brother know what you're capable of. Because it doesn't count for anything, some guys will keep it slow to reduce the risk of injury, other guys will stop halfway down and scope out a new line, and some guys will let it all hang out to see what the course feels like at speed before they have to qualify.

With points as close as they are, nobody will hold back in tomorrow's qualifying, as a couple extra points for a pole position could be the difference between a championship and a #2 plate.
  • 5 0
the organizers also use it to test their equipment, I heard.
  • 1 0
 Thank you guys! Smile
  • 3 0
Hill for the win ! don't know if he has a chance at the overall, but if Sam does Hill take that too!!! Perfect course for him steep, off camber, slippery and wide turns. Hill all the way!
  • 6 1
I really do hope this is the year of the Rat!
  • 7 1
 GB riders dominating
  • 4 0
RAT ATTACK!!!!! He WILL take the overall. The end
  • 3 0
Cant wait for qualies tomorrow. I like this track because its got some tech and speed so it really anyones game. C'mon Gwin!
  • 3 0
good to see josh and sam up there
  • 5 3
that would be a great result on Saturday, bryceland win, gee second, hill third and then Simmonds in 4th Big Grin
  • 3 0
Even with that much hair he dose not slow down!
  • 2 0
So much for the 4 minute track. These guys a killing it! I think this is gonna be the race of the year!
  • 1 0
Well, it was 4:02 for Rachel. ;-)
  • 2 0
And she will no doubt crush that as well after a few more runs!
  • 2 0
COME ON GB!!!!!!!! So good to see so many British riders on the tops spots!
  • 1 0
10 gbr in the top twenty, what else do the boys have to do to get some TV time! sod badminton, cricket etc we're not even that good at a lot of other sports (exception of Motorsport ) a win needs at least a mention in the sports headlines.
  • 2 0
Proof that Ratboy used his brakes today... A very little bit... And very quickly...

  • 5 3
Oh man oh man....what happened to Gwin?
  • 6 4
No one tries in times training
  • 6 2
I'm sure there is a wee bit of effort involoved
  • 2 3
Is it probably related to the fact that ''this is a real DH'' track? What makes this track so different than the others? I still dont understand the comments saying that this track is perfect for hill and hart....can someone explain?
  • 1 0
@Narro2: It has to do with the characteristics of a track. Hill and Hart have previously excelled in similar tracks.
  • 5 0
Each rider has a unique style to their riding, this track suits Hill and Hart's riding style very well, Sam Hill made a name for himself riding "impossible" lines on sketchy tracks and putting huge gaps on the field, Hart has broken the laws of physics on slippery tracks a couple times to win. Don't put much stock in Gwin being so far back, times practice doesn't count, even though this isn't a perfect track for Gwin, I'll bet his race time is right up there with Hill, Hart, Ratboy, etc.
  • 3 0
Gwin never goes full bore during timed training, he usually stops and scopes new lines midrun.
  • 2 0
Yeah I agree. If you go back to Champery when Hart enialatated the rest of the field. Gwinn was more or less level on every split until his bars caught the catch netting. Don't right him off if it rains !
  • 3 0
Its obvious the Spesh boys are working on line choice.
  • 2 0
Looks like Le Rat is peakin' like a Chinese duck again...
  • 1 0
So exited, nervous just cant wait!! Prediction is Hart to win and Ratboy to take the overall
  • 3 0
 Go MIK!
  • 3 0
 You can do it Emmeline!
  • 1 0
whats the deal with the overall?? is it whoever wins wins the overall between batboy gain and troy?
  • 1 0
Once qualifying is done you'll be able to work it out, Gwin isn't as close to the rat as troy so he might have to beat him by more than one spot to take it.
  • 1 0
Solid start for #whoisneilstewart. Must be that new go-faster Fox kit FMD are rockin.
