In addition to his contest schedule, Darren also mentioned he's in the initial stages of adding another event to the tour stop on Vancouver's Mount Seymour that he would be spearheading along with his annual "Bearclaw Invitational." The Claw is currently down in Utah working with event organizers to scout a new location for next year's Rampage, and is in the early conceptual stages for embarking on a sequel to "Where the Trail Ends."

Huzzah! What an awesome rider - there has been a disturbance in the force until now - welcome back!

Yes! Hope to see you compete in Rampage 2014. May the Force be with you!

he should just focus on being nice. haha. he takes riding too serious

10 years since nwd update.i walk through the empty streets trying to think of something else but my path always leads to the end of the trail. i stare at the screen for hours and try to summon the lord. i watch other younger studs vids but it is no good. i flame rodies in their forums and try to resist the nazi mods but it is all meaningless. the end is near.i then usually watch some old nwd vods and cry myself to sleep.

Fack broman! didnt realize it was that bad, everybody is sending healing waves ur way.

@moth423, Please tell me your sarcastic. The Claw is one of the nicest and most sympathetic riders out there.

I met him at rampage and he was pretty rude. No patience for fans. He takes his riding very seriously. I'd have beennrude too if I wasn't able to compete in rampage too, tho. But I've heard of him being rude at highland too. Maybe I'm just too much of a hack to understand. Haha.
  • 3 0
im sure if he had some time to sit a talk to anyone, he would, and rampage is no place to talk to anyone trying to beat that monster, we've watched him battle that one with little success, being a legend he is we expect him to win and thats gotta be tonnes of pressure on him.
  • 1 0
lawl yeah right I remember claw said winning isn't the most important thing in the world. Tbo every rider who you haven't met remain to be a mystery, but it's what they show on the videos that leave their image to the public. Spreading rumors of a rider being rude, yeah..haha.gl with changing their reputation this way.

Great to see him stay positive through the recovery. I have been out since September battling a Jones fracture, I love seeing videos like this. Really helps keep the spark alive knowing I will be back on the bike with lots of hard work.

This is the story all Canadians are telling, six months of nothing! This winter has been so long and painful!

Dude, come to Vancouver Island. I took 2 weeks off and plugged through questionable snow rides for 2 weeks, but other than that I rode the entire winter.

Maybe I need to man up, I live in snowy alberta, next year I will build a snow bike, no excuses!

His 360ies are legendary as is his Kranked segment with Super-T !!!! I am still working on my 360ies but I am at the very beginning. Every time I am loosing confidence or giving up I watch him ride and fall and stand up again :-) Huge inspiration! Thanx Darren and healing vibes to you! At least your family could enjoy you beeing more often at home :-D but I understand it sucks not be able to do what you like...

If anybody actually knows Darren, ask him to look into and / or contact Dr Stuart McGill at U of Waterloo in Ontario. He is also available through backfitpro.com

As a leading authority on lower back disorders he might be able to help DB out to prevent any further surgeries.

From one LBP sufferer to another.....

That was the most lucid interview I've seen in a long time. Theres a lot at stake for a pro rider who suddenly finds that he cant ride for the better part of a year. You can see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. No matter what the future holds, everybody knows that this man will succeed and come out on top.

Remember his one footer at the first Red Bull Rampage? Fu*king legend, he's gotten me pumped to get out and ride as much any of the greats.
  • 2 0
I'm pretty sure he didn't compete at the first Rampage in 2001.

A sequel to 'Where the trail ends'? So the trail didn't end!

 The trail never ends!

Every tail ends, but new ones begin,……….. the search for those is what never ends.

Hahahaaa!! Now that is one corny, self important sequence of posts Wink

I had a bulging disc myself. I honestly find it crazy that a Dr. told him to do nothing in order for it to heal! That is literally the complete opposite of what is necessary for it to heal naturally! It was a lot of work, but I healed naturally within 3 months. Unbelievable! Glad to see you back. Never trust a doctor that tells you to do nothing in order to heal, it's complete bull.

easy to say having not seen the reports and x-rays yourself, the same injuries vary quite a bit from person to person.
  • 1 0
I know that it sounded harsh. With only a year left studying Physical Therapy, it would be beneficial to see the MRI. All people's bodies do handle injuries differently. I can also say with confidence that injuries do not heal themselves quickly, and properly without a lot of work.
  • 2 0
Im with you on this dualsuspensiondave........weird anyone would be told to sit on a couch for 3 months for a back injury especially something as minor as a disc problem. We used to do this 2 to 3 decades ago......Must have been something more than a disc injury but even fractures you need to maintain core strength and cardio respiratory fitness. Maybe the claw is not telling all which is fair enough but it is kind of wrong to give an erroneous impression since we are all so impressionable when it comes to our biking heroes-of which he is one of mine. The trail ends got my daughter finally in the right head space to learn to ride......such a great vid.

Absolutely. Darren Berrecloth is a true legend. He is the one that really got me into riding. Much respect, and there may be more to it. Can't wait to see you shredding this season Darren!
  • 3 1
Mr. Berrecloth, You have been a legend in this sport since I can remember. I truly wish you well on your recovery and look forward to seeing some new edits with you ripping trails and throwing steez around everywhere you go.

Stoked to see Darren back. That sucks about the back. Anyone with back problems or just minor pain should check out foundation training by dr Eric goodman. I've been doing it for a year and haven't had any pain since, and my flexibility has never been better.

The Claw is a legend. I'm have a similar issue with my back after fracturing it back on the moto tracks. Been a few months an the recovery is going slowly good, but still some mild pain. About to see the doc soon, pray its nothing serious don't what I'd do if they tell me days of riding are over. Thanks for this videos the claw is the reason I got into biking and its helps me stay positive through this downtime.

Mountain biking changed for me when I first saw his segment in NWD 3...this has got to have been nearly 10 years ago, still my hero! Stoked to see his new company global epix up and running now, what I wouldn't give to go on a trip with this guy as guide!

DB is an absolute Legend and rightly so! It is refreshing to hear such an honest and mature approach to recovery from serious injury rather than the selfish and immature "life is short, f*ck the doctors" balls that have been on PB lately from a small minority. Injuries are tough and there's no getting around it- got to recover hard and be as strong as possible for the future. All the best Darren!!!
  • 1 0
It sucks you had to learn the hard way and sit around for months, probably because the Doctor told you to - they told me the same but I wish i knew Darren because I would've told ya it's a waste of time - I've learnt you have to keep moving! Glad ya all good again - looking forward to seeing you out on the track again Dude!

Glad to hear you're on the mend. I can appreciate wanting to heal without surgery. Sorry it didn't work out. Hope you were able to pull something from that time off. Heal fast and stay safe.

Glad to see he is doing better. Now the psychological aspect comes into play and the older you get the harder it gets but the Claw has been there before. He will prevail. Can't wait to see you ride again Darren.

The claw is the most iconic rider of new school ride. Always pushing up freestyle with mother nature. Is good to see him ready.
