Nov 4, 2014
by Flying Metal

Just before leaving to the Red Bull Rampage, Ramon Hunziker returned to the Swiss Alps for one last time this summer. After struggling with unaccommodating conditions in the first episodes, the weather and terrain couldn't have worked out better. Ramon is ready for Utah! Will the riding experience on the stony terrain help him compete at the Red Bull Rampage? Decide for yourself in the fourth and last episode of Ride the Alps.

The scenery in the Bernese was simply breathtaking. Ramon riding in front of the famous Eiger, M├Ânch and Jungfrau Mountains

Backpacking the bike and hiking down has never been the plan. But some sections were just too steep and exposed to ride

During this season, a lot of new venues have been discovered. But some of them will be kept in mind for a longer time like the Schilthorn area

That's rad! I climbed up (and then back down again) the Schilthorn a few weeks ago. At the shale part shown in the photos and the first part of the video, I was really jonesin for a bike. Below that as the "trail" (very loose term in places) got bouldery, not so much. There are some areas along that trail that would not be fun on a bike. Once on the valley floor above the Rotstockh├╝tte, I ran into a Swiss hunter who had killed a "Guymes", a mountain goat of sorts.

Oh, and for those that don't know, the area they rode down is named "Rote Hard", dropping West off the Schilthorn. By the time I got back to Murren on foot, I was already more than two hours of walking in the dark. But hey, it's an adventure!

Massively gorgeous guys!
