I always think I did something rad and then I look at the video my friend was taking and my dreams just die. Well, that's what iMovie was made for (The "speed up" feature is very handy).
How many hours of riding do you think his bikes last for before completely disintegrating under him? He's so strong and rides with such intent like he's trying to shred through to the center of the earth! Love it, he's one bad ass northeast ripper!
@hetfield1: probably a little of both. He's definitely a big dude in pictures but standing next to the other guys he's definitely gonna look like a beast.
@briceps: I met him last year at an ECS enduro race Killington I think was or Mt. Snow. Standing next to him he is definitely just and average dude as far a size. Fitness however, thats a different story all together. I was definitely giddy like a school girl meeting the best MTBer on the planet.
Big strong boy thats for sure! For me Rennie was/is the strongest looking rider around. Big naturally strong red head! Him and kovaric used to just destroy sh*t! Animals.
@moutnbiker: Let's see him ride outside of enduro racing and then we will see... although I wouldn't be surprised if he killed it just as hard like Kyle Strait, Fairclough, Gee Atherton, Cedric, etc. I wish there were more edits of Richie posted up, so much fun watching him destroy.
@scott-townes: I'd have to say he would be just as fast if not faster than most WC DHers. My personal opinion is that Enduro is mare difficult than DH based on the facts that 1. Enduro races get less time to preride the tracks. 2. There are up to 7 courses they must ride and memorize vs 1 in DH. 3. Enduro is based on combined times and not just 1 fast run. 4. Enduro races have to encompass a verity of skills in order to do extremely well. Just my 2 cents
@moutnbiker: My post has nothing to do with comparing enduro to DH. I have no idea how you people got that from my post. There are more types of riding to master outside of enduro and DH, haha.
On other videos I've seen of Rude (including the ones with Kelley), he seemed more of a masher/muscle type rider. This video shows I was totally wrong in my impression. His fine skills are obvious, and he has plenty of style to boot.
Something tells me that all elite riders MUST be like this (and diminishes my chances of joining their ranks... lol!).
You are definitely right. The average world cup XC rider is likely better on the downhills than anyone you know, and likewise the EWS and DHers are fitter.
@bmck: woah woah... average XC rider? I know allot of mates that are whistler bums that could show a few people a thing or two going down the mountain....
I have only seen EWS footage of him riding and he obviously looks like a very strong rider. This video catches something different -- he has massive style and flow. I was so impressed with both his riding and this video. I prefer these clips where you can hear the dirt and the freewheel. I also think that any World Cup or Enduro World Series racer is probably so much better than we would guess.
I believe it was Yoann Barelli, who is uber talented himself, that referred to Rude as ****ing nuts in an interview. I must admit the same impression of Rude, but this blew me away. It's always that way, though. I love watching WC DH, but an edit like Bulldog and Blenki at Te Ranga far better showcases the precision, speed, and skill than the live stream ever will.
great video , leaves you pumped to go rip some trails
while watching this i couldn't stop wondering what he would have done in DH if he hadn't switched, he was junior world champ and left it there, would be great to see him race a wc, i think he would be top 20
let me just watch it again...

Wound up on the lift with him at Mountain Creek during the Pro GRT qualifier in May...Such a Calm, Cool, Laid back dude. Quiet until you talk to him a bit, Then he is super nice and helpful. Came back to my truck later to see he is parked right next to me...Marsh guards as mud flaps on his GTI! Now that's some style in itself!
Question about sound on these videos. Some shots look like they were taken with a drone which would sound like a hornets nest with the rotors whizzing about. Do they mount a microphone on the bike and sync up the audio to the video later or is it like TV where they have someone with a keyboard filled with bike noises and they create a soundtrack that sounds credible when you watch it, but isn't actually real??
No its real, just like they don't add in the sounds of rocks clinking around with nothing else being picked up in movies. They add mics to the rocks.
I'm sorry for being sarcastic, of course the sounds are edited.
@raybao: Why would they drop Keene? Sure he doesn't get that many podiums anymore but he's become an icon of the sport and everyone wants whatever he's wearing/riding
I ride Mountain Creek a lot and some of those rocky sections he went through are scary and of course he rode through like nothing! 1:35 when he clears that rainbow feature is a lot scarier than it looks!
dude holy shit. I've seen small snippets on IG and stuff of Richie tearing it up like this, but this full length video was sick. Talk about some serious precision, style, and power. He's fulfilling his duties with Yeti, and loving it. But when and if he gets on a team brand that has a big WC DH presence, if he chooses to race DH, I think he will be a winner very soon. No question. I want to see him there
Richie is not only a human bullet, but can style for miles too. Every time i watch one of his vids i wonder why his bike looks so small, I know he is built like a tank but is he tall or does he just prefer a smaller bike???
Finally a video of Rude without Pamela Anderson... I mean Cody Kelley. That kid is so androgynous that it hurts. And he does the same reverse whip move EVERY time.
That's one of our new Aggressor tires. Richie and Cody have been running them all season as a rear tire, paired with a Minion DHF up front. Both with the DoubleDown construction.
didn't you see that tree move out of his way?
"mmmmm sandwich. nom nom nom. mmmm more bike."
I wonder how big he really is, he could just be average sized and the rest of the EWS guys are tiny.
My vote goes to ACC for best MTBer of course

@gcman47: Yes, I understand he was riding in NJ, but my point was he is from Redding, CT.
Oh & the color co-ordination, I sooo dig it.
Good to know that he is not "just" fast but bloody stylish aus well
