This trail lies somewhere deep in the woods and exists to keep mountain biking fun through a weird mix of slopestyle, DH, new-school, and old-school features. If you don't have what you want to ride and can't find it, build it! Thanks to Rand Marino and Dave Munoa for filming, and to Ben Van Afterparty and Andy Fitzgerrell for the additional images. We would also like to thank Kenda, 5-10, and Park City Bike Demos for supporting this video.

@yakattack: Very cool! Does this trail stay around or is it built for the video shoot and dismantled?

@smithcreek: it stays around but it's super secret and hidden

@AdustytrunkMonkey: I haven't heard about canyons closing for bikes. Do you have more info?
  • 2 0
Yeah it’s done done. No more canyons bike park.
  • 2 1
@dcdavid12: was this information released somewhere? First I'm hearing of it, but would be a huge bummer if true. I loved the park. I did hear they were moving to the PC side but last year it was just rumors.

@dcdavid12: wow just called and confirmed. thanks a lot Vail, another stellar move in the name of $$

@LuvAZ: a business making a decision in the name of $.... absurd!
  • 2 0
It is a well known fact that Vail Resorts is the anti fun firm. You cant even ski fast without losing your pass. Police on the slopes? Only in America.
  • 3 0
@utahben: i understand it. I dont think it is the right decision. The park offered something unique in UT.
  • 2 0
@Boardlife69: Vail wants high class clients, the kind that tip well and book extended vacation rentals... not a bunch of punk shredders causing a ruckus.
  • 2 2
Looks like 14 year olds built that.... How long till it collapses?

@Stinky-Dee: Its already been around for 3-4 years so.... yeah you might want to get those eyes checked.

As for the people ripping on Vail, they have plenty of resorts with bike parks. The Canyons bike park was an absolute joke. Vail is making the right decision to close a bike park that's so horribly designed that you have to take 3 lifts to ride their DH run. The PC side will eventually have a bike park.

@scott-townes: i get it, ppl get spoiled and jaded, but the bike park was still tons o fun. Drop kick was always a riot and it was only 1 lift. Those guys worked really hard to keep things going and building new stuff. Sorry u had to take a couple o lifts.

@scott-townes: Canyons wasn't perfect but it was pretty fun and probably the best park in Utah. Vail hasn't done much for bike parks in Colorado.

@LuvAZ: Its not about being spoiled, its about management at the Canyons having zero clue what they're doing. The layout was horrendous. Its funny you can only reference a single trail that's not a beginner run and can be lapped by a single lift ride. It has nothing to do with who builds/maintains the trails so I'm not sure why you're referencing those people.

Beginner/intermediate riders or those with minimal experience with bike parks such as yourself may have a high opinion of the Canyon's bike park but it was terrible. Vail is making the right call by abandoning this atrocity and starting something new.
  • 7 0
@scott-townes: you're right, way better having no park and no plans to build anything new. but i guess an intermediate like me can't understand that equation.
  • 4 0
@scott-townes: please tell us about your extensive experience with bike parks
  • 2 0
@cmcrawfo: Yeah but the best bike park in town is at Deer Valley interestingly enough. Deer Valley is the epitome of high class clientele and exclusive pricing (ie they want $400 for a bike park season pass for a pretty mediocre park). The decision over at the canyons was probably made for reasons other than "punk shredders causing a ruckus."

@LuvAZ: ...... They're moving it to the PC side......... apparently you can't understand.....

 Amazing trail!

Can we get an article about Gorge Road Jumps being knocked down!?
  • 6 0
 wtf? seriously?
  • 12 2
Ah eclectic. I read 'electric'. Scrolled directly to comments to revel in ebike flaming.
  • 4 1
I think you mean flaming ebikes

Sick trail. Feel sorry for the guy that rides right foot forward, that hip and the wallride are both opposite for him, bad times!!
  • 6 3
 Aren't most right foot forward?
  • 4 2
@Flowcheckers: if most people are right handed, then no
  • 2 0
 @Flowcheckers: yeah I reckon so.
  • 8 0
@Flowcheckers: Oh no! Another one of those polls.......
  • 3 2
Guys, if you take a 1/2 pedal stroke, your other foot will be forward...Never understood why people would ride with the same foot forward all the time. I switch constantly, depending on which way I want to whip.
  • 1 1
Most ppl are most comfortable left foot forward
  • 2 0
@tetonlarry: This is indeed how physics works, however everyone has a dominant foot, hand etc. If you can use both, that's cool, but rare.
  • 1 0
@BryceBorlick: Opposite in my world. Coming from BMX, most riders will rotate anti-clockwise and therefor run right foot forward. I think out of the 5 or 6 guys I ride DH with that came from little bikes, ALL of us ride right foot forward. Always presumed it's a right hand/right foot kinda deal?
  • 1 0
for what it's worth i'm right handed but left footed. i ride snowboards regular, but i ride bikes goofy. idk man.
  • 1 0
 @jtayabji: there's always one.... Haha
  • 3 0
Respect! It’s great to see people building what they want to ride instead of waiting tor other people to build it for them and whining about it.
  • 4 0
Ben Van Afterparty. That is a sick name. lol
  • 3 1
THIS is what mountain biking should be! Future! The most inspiring things I've ever seen are creative builds.
