Sam Hill's 'Grave Digger' Nukeproof Mega - EWS Finale Ligure 2016
Let s just take a moment to fully take in Sam Hill s insane paint job on his Nukeproof Mega we posted a full bike check earlier this season .

How full enduro has Sam Hill gone How about bush guards deep. While many may have dismissed them as simply French cheating guards talking to a few riders they do offer some interesting benefits. For instance some riders are currently compromising on bar width to keep their hands out of harm s way on track whereas with these you can still run a full-width bar and keep your pinkies safe.

Kona needs to make reintroduce Dee Lux versions of all their bikes.
  • 11 0
 With adjustable chainstays for sure!
  • 31 3
Ugh... I wish you could edit comments. Make introduce? Lol

@jsnfschr: Didn't even get your typo right on your reply lol

Loving those classic paint schemes on Kona. Visually appealing

@lehott: I gotta say that my desert tan CRDL 153 is the only paint job I've ever truly loved on a Kona. Love the bikes but always felt a bit indifferent to the color schemes.
  • 3 1
I had two different Kona's when they originally did the flame paint jobs....broke both frames but to this day some of my favorite looking bikes with all the customizing I added to them

100% agree, especially with the classic paint and logo. But, I assumed that's what the "DL" stood for in the new model's names.

Sam has got some mega megas!

@madmon: Nah, the Ferrari one mate! Wink

@madmon: an official Sam Hill replica just came up for sale on FB here in Oz.

@Kiwijohn42: That raw alloy one 'looks like a pole'

@Kiwijohn42: wish I had some dough I really like Nukeproof bikes the last 5 years and want one

That raw Mega always wins in my book.
  • 4 0
For sure man, and with that MegNeg can it just looks burly AF
  • 11 0
Miranda Millers Kona Process looks stunning.

I think the problem with replicas is that I can't ride them anywhere near like they're supposed to be ridden! I've seen some cheap Sam Hill raw factory megas about but would just be too embarrassed to turn up to the trails on one. Who else rides with hand guards as well? I need to care less....

For me, from a strictly aesthetic point of view, that blue and yellow Cube wins this round. Simple blocks of bold colours. Nothing to confuse the eye. Beautiful. Also, if you're going to pick four colours, it's tough to go wrong with blue, yellow, black, and orange (with apologies to anyone who is blue-yellow colour blond).

I like the Irish flag version of it. Matches the fork lowers so nicely.
  • 1 0
Oh, oops, stupid typo there on my part: colour *blind*.
  • 1 0
@Lanebobane: also looks good, for sure!
  • 1 0
Just say no to two tone paint jobs.

Saw one of the green/gold limited edition Worx models Nukeproof ran on sale (brand new) for i think about £3500.

Wasn't lioking for a bike at the time but that was bargain of the decade for whoever picked it up. I think full rrp was abkut £5k, which was still insane value considering it was spec'd as closely to Sam's race bike as they could. £3.5k for a near factory race spec bike is mind boggling.

Whish i'd gone for it in hindsight. Hell, paintings sell for more and that bike was much more a work of art. Could've just kept in in the living room, smiling at it wistfully.

pfft can still ride it AND put it in the living room as art. Dirty bike is a happy bike.

For me - Kona! Just a ton respect for those bikes! Bomb proof in my experience. Now back to the retro branding! I miss the days of pushing a Stinky the top and bombing down! That was how it really started for me. I’d would have done it on any bike but Kona was the 1st and probably the last. Wish I had a new one! Where’s Robbie B? Dave Watson? John Cowan? RIP Carlin Dunne. Miss those guys and the videos that inspired my riding today! 48yrs old and just love this sport! Hope Miranda and Conner kill it for Kona!
  • 2 0
Geez i cant believe nobody mentioned those cubes running a 2x in 2017 and 2018... that dude in front of the hope van was running 1x in 2015 and it looks like a ten speed!

As an older rider.. great to see purple anodized jewelry again on high end mtn bikes from I9, Hope, Wolftooth, etc . I still have a large box of Kooka, Deity (modern), Profile, etc that I need to dust off.

Sam Hill's 'Grave Digger' Nukeproof Mega head tube paint job reminds me of a Kona hot from 1997. The bike I wished I owned back in the day.
  • 2 0
pick one??? are they crazy - those rigs are a cross between works of arts and porno
  • 1 0
If they released that Canyon Strive with those colors I'd buy one instant. Brands should offer more special paintings instead of the classic one or two-tone colors.
  • 1 0
Every bike with a red Lyric would have looked better without a red Lyrik. Except Isabeau's Carbine- that one is ruined by yellow Mavic hubs.
  • 1 1
Interesting that what might look cool on a DH build just looks lurid or tacky on an enduro bike. Sam Hill has ridden some nice ones, especially that green/gold model.
  • 1 0
Millers bike is really nice. So hers is rad as are all the Cube paint jobs especially Gregs Ligure 2018. Thats hot!
  • 1 1
I would love to have my own custom paint done. Probably out of my price range though. How much are you looking at for an original design with a couple of colours?
  • 2 1
It would be far cheaper to wrap it if you’re looking to use solid colours. Just make a sure you do a better job than the one done on the Cube.
  • 1 0
For the more well known UK painters you’re looking at a minimum of £400-£500 last time I looked, for a design as detailed as some of these I think you’d be looking at a lot more than that
  • 1 1
@Macky1710: My father had a petrol tank done at Dream Machine maybe 20 years ago, and it was close to £300 I seem to recall.
  • 2 0
The raw mega is my favourite by far

Isabeau Courdurier's Prototype Intense looks like a modern aluminum Santa Cruz :/
  • 2 0
What abou the "Day of the Dead" theme by Sam Hill?
  • 1 0
Looks like Isabeau"s Intense prototype has Santa Cruz's new lower VPP suspension. Cool.
  • 1 0
Martin Maes' GT Force looks outstanding. I'd love to know what that green color is.

there's something wonderfully charming about some Italian streets.

Isa's Intense Tracer look great... Generally I find Intense look bland.
  • 1 0
The top tube on the Sunn makes my knees terrified.
  • 1 0
I like the hand guards !
  • 4 5
Anyone else surprised that the Konas were from 2019? Tube shapes and colorways scream 2015
  • 11 0
These were one off old skool Kona paint jobs intended specifically as a throwback to classic mid 2000s Kona style.
  • 2 2
 I thought the same thing.
  • 3 0
@getschwifty: The Stab flames were from 1998
